    PREFACE

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

    ~John 8:32

There have been millions of quotations written and spoken by brilliant minds, capturing wisdom about life and how we can best go about living it. For me, these words from Jesus would be at the very top of the list. In these thirteen words, he is offering a profound insight into ourselves and the great life available to us, though seldom lived by most. His words capture the design woven into our being from millions of years of evolution, through which we are able to resonate with truth and free to live the great life—if only we’re willing to seek and know it. If only we’re willing to seek the truth about what we really need to know about God, ego, and ourselves. If only we’re willing to unlearn so much non-truth we have been taught, and that we have taught ourselves, about each of these entities.

Unfortunately, the ego energy at work in our ego mind often hinders this search for truth, pulling us further away from it. This ego energy prevents us from knowing the truth of what God is, Ego is, and You are. Instead, it leads us in the direction of false beliefs that imprison so many and cause them to act through the darkness, deadness, and inhumanity manifested in everyday life—toward ourselves or others. Truth is a light that is so difficult for many to recognize, along with the freedom it can bring them from a life lived in unrecognized suffering, mere existence, and survival rather than truly living. It is from this place that earthly resurrection can and must take place—when needed. After our earthly resurrection, we can know the great life we’ve been designed by God, Evolution, and the Wisdom of the Ages to know and live. Heaven then is not a future place we go to upon our death and entry into Spirit—here and now becomes an earthly heaven. The Love, Life, and Energy—God Is would not want us to put on hold the opportunity to know the great life. It is here and available to us, if only we know where to look and how to seek it, guided by truth—our beacon to the great life. That is the purpose of this and all of my books, website (egoandspirit.info), and podcasts. Through them all, I aim to point you in the direction of making a tight connection with three Truths that profoundly influence your ability to undertake your earthly resurrection—God, Ego, and You.

The Truth of God, which is the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, preceded humans, human consciousness, and all of the distortions about God fashioned by humans, particularly in the realm of religion. These distortions often present an image of God possessing many human characteristics of a physical, mental, and emotional nature that God doesn’t possess, as God is of the Divine, not the human realm. God doesn’t have physical characteristics or a gender. God doesn’t think in the ways we humans think. God doesn’t feel in the ways we humans feel. So, anger, resentment, frustration, punitiveness, and intolerance—just some of the ways in which God has been portrayed in biblical and religious passages and stories—are false. Some of these distortions are intended to bring people closer to God with the use of fear rather than love, but they actually create distance through the messages of separation, unworthiness, and inequality contained within them that prevent people from experiencing the Divinity within their humanity and the oneness and unity we all share with God.

The Truth of Ego is the survival energy that filters into our ego mind and lays the foundation for forming the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors we use in living our daily lives. This includes the faulty ones, rooted in unhealthy, imbalanced ego energy, that preclude undertaking our earthly resurrection and living the great life we’ve been designed to live by God, Evolution, and the Wisdom of the Ages. Distortions about ego include the idea that ego has an ability to think, can form intentions for us, and is purposefully trying to edge God out of our life—none of which is true, because ego lacks a mind and intellect with which to do any of that. It’s just an energy—a very important energy! In reality, we form thoughts and intentions—not ego—built on the nature of our ego energy.

The Truth of You involves what you’re capable of being through the synergy of your humanity and Divinity: a spiritual being having a human experience, who most people never get to know. This person remains foreign to them because their unhealthy, imbalanced ego energy is getting in the way of facilitating this synergy. Unfortunately, distortions and false truths about their relationship with God prevent many from walking hand in hand with God and experiencing the earthly resurrection they’re capable of bringing about—NOW! Instead, they wait unnecessarily for heaven in the next life.

Some may try to work on these Truths—but only one of them—with limited or temporary success in surmounting the challenges of their life and the deadness they have come to know. Some work mainly or exclusively on their relationship with God. Often they follow the teachings of religious or spiritual leaders with limited or temporary success. In many cases, they return to where they began when the changes or improvements they sought don’t pan out in the way they expected. Often they return to square one because the powerful effects of unhealthy ego energy and the non-truths fashioned from it, including those about God, continue working behind the scenes within their ego mind.

Some attempt to work only on their ego, with little or no success. They’ve bought into a faulty or limited understanding of it obtained from professionals and experts, some of whom are quite famous. Often, this perception of ego holds that it only involves how much power or will people want to exert within their life. Meanwhile, it fails to understand the survival energy that ego is, laying the foundation for additional faulty thoughts and teachings, including lots of myths about ego they buy into. All of this ignorance leads away from knowing the truth about ego and the ability to know their ego energy, the healing they seek, and the transformation into a better person with a more fulfilling life.

Some try to work on only themselves by getting the latest self-help book. Or, they embrace a philosophy or psychological theory that they accept as explaining everything—only to encounter the inevitable holes that life will expose to them. Such approaches are often more like band-aids, lacking the depth needed and failing to get to the root of their humanity—their ego and ego energy. They serve as a soft foundation for getting to know the origins of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are the making of one’s deadness and inhumanity toward themselves, others, or both. From this place, earthly resurrection is unattainable.

You must know all three Truths—the truth about God, Ego, and You—to bring about your earthly resurrection. Success in working on only one of them won’t lead to earthly resurrection. Too much would remain undone, including the unlearning of so much non-truth about God, Ego, and You that you are standing on. You must cultivate a truthful understanding of each of them, the powerful positive impact of the other Truths, and ultimately, the opportunity to experience your earthly resurrection. The secret sauce of a great life and earthly resurrection is truth—about God, Ego, and You.

This truth is simple, straightforward, and available to all. It’s not meant for some and not others. You don’t need a great intellect or high level of education to know it. You don’t need to go somewhere or meet someone else other than yourself to know it. You don’t have to pay large amounts of money in order to know it. Truth within the knowledge of God, Ego, and You, expressed in this book and in my other work, will allow you to bring about your healing and undergo your earthly resurrection—made possible by God, millions of years of evolution, and the Wisdom of the Ages.

The dawn of a new day has begun. Your earthly resurrection and earthly heaven can become your reality. It only remains a fantasy if you keep yourself at a distance from the three Truths discussed in this book—a distance built on miles of false truths, mistruths, and half-truths about God, Ego, and You that have taught you it’s not possible. You were designed to live the great life in all times and in all places—starting here and now. A loving God would not want anything less for all of us. Choose yourself and give what has been given to you by God, Evolution, and the Wisdom of the Ages—Truth.

    Nick Martin

    INTRODUCTION

This book focuses on a very different resurrection from the one you probably think of when you hear this word. It most likely conjures an idea of transitioning from the deadness and death of this physical, earthly, human life to the next life—something many refer to as the afterlife—and returning to being a living entity. I will refer to this as Divine Resurrection, as it rests in the hands of God, not our own. It is a resurrection of the then and there, occurring in a place that humans often call heaven—the one made possible by the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is.

To be honest, I have no idea what form this afterlife will take. And I don’t believe that others who have sought to describe it do either. The limitations of our humanity prevent us from truly knowing what awaits us in our Divine Resurrection. This is no attempt at modesty or humility—just an acknowledgement that God is beyond our full human comprehension. We can be guided by the awareness of what God Is, but we can’t determine the manifestation of the Love, Life, and Energy that are the makings of the afterlife and heaven any more than we could have captured the manifestation of God’s handiwork before the creation of humanity and all of the gifts that we have been given on this planet, since its beginning.

What I can say is that the manifestation of the afterlife will be incredible and beyond our dreams and capacity to imagine. What makes me say that? Just take a look at what has been given to us in this earthly realm. All of the incredible manifestations of life unfolding over millions of years, within Evolution and the Wisdom of the Ages. All of it rooted in the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is. We can see in all of it the Divine Truth that has always been playing out before our eyes—even though we often fail to recognize it. In all of God’s creation, we can see the evidence that life beyond this life will be an incredible continuation of our individual and collective journey that will address all concerns, including concern for our loved ones who have journeyed forth in their Divine Resurrection.

The resurrection I’m calling attention to is our earthly resurrection. You’re likely to be unfamiliar with this concept of resurrection, as the only one you know is the one that involves transitioning beyond this life to the next—Divine Resurrection. Also, until now, your understanding of resurrection has probably been limited to resurrection in the physical sense, in which we arise from the death of our bodies, while failing to recognize that deadness often exists in our mental, emotional, and spiritual being even though we are physically alive—on earth. This deadness can be rooted in our ego energy and manifested in our inhumanity to ourselves or others, which I will have much more to say about later when discussing the Truth of You.

By opening your eyes to the opportunity for earthly resurrection, you can know the great life you are meant to live—here and now, not just then and there! The Love, Life, and Energy—God Is would not place our access to the great life on hold until we die. Neither should you, through ignorance of God, Ego, and You. Earthly resurrection lies directly in your hands, if you commit to getting to know the Truth of what God is, Ego is, and You are. It is a resurrection that can take place in the here and now, not in the there and then of Divine Resurrection. You can bring it about by arising from the deadness of your inhumanity to the lifefulness of your humanity being lived in concert with your Divinity—here on earth.

Many of us are just existing and surviving in their lives. They are the living dead whose quality of life can be summed up as poor, fair, or something I refer to as fake good. They make up the majority of people on earth. The union of their humanity and Divinity is weak or absent. They are not living the great life they were designed to live by the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is. Unhealthy, imbalanced ego energy is standing in the way of this union. For some, it’s a partial separation. We might describe the quality of their life as fair or good. For others, it’s a complete separation. We might describe the quality of their lives as poor. All are capable of undertaking their earthly resurrection but don’t know how. Many are looking to Divine Resurrection as the answer to their prayers.

You may be asking, What does this earthly resurrection look like? or How will I know when it’s happening in my life? The answer is contained in a consciousness I talk about in my book EgoSpiritualism: Awakening to Your Human and Divine Self. If you’re living in the consciousness of egospiritualism, you are experiencing a quality of life that most people are unable to experience in their daily life due to the presence of unhealthy, imbalanced ego energy. You’re at peace with yourself, the people in your life, and the world. You’re motivated by love rather than fear, anger, or guilt in dealing with the demands of life. You’re able to accept yourself unconditionally, even as you grow to be a better, yet still imperfect, person. You’re free of inappropriate expectations of yourself and others, as well as from others. You’re achieving with your potential, recognizing the service in what you’re offering to others, and experiencing a sense of meaning and purpose to your life. You’re able to live fully in the present. This is just some of what takes place during and after one’s earthly resurrection. How are you doing in each of these areas?

If you’re not at peace with yourself, others, and the world, that’s suffering and deadness. If you’re motivated by fear or guilt, rather than love, to get things done in your life, that’s suffering and deadness. If you can only accept and love yourself conditionally, that’s suffering and deadness. If you’re consumed with inappropriate expectations of yourself or others, that’s suffering and deadness. If you’re unable to live fully in the present, that’s suffering and deadness. There is so much unnecessary suffering and deadness that occurs in the ten key life areas I talk about in my work—all of it reflective of survival and existence rather than truly living. All of it rooted in unhealthy, imbalanced ego energy. All of it abnormal when you fully appreciate the design God has given you and the Divinity that has been woven into your humanity.

What I will be sharing with you is likely to be scary for many. This fear is rooted in the sense that the foundation of truth you have been standing on to know God (as well as Ego and You) has been filled with mistruths, half-truths, and even lies fashioned by humans, which lead away from truth. Often they carry us into the deadness of survival and mere existence. Some of this has been fashioned with the assistance of helpers who failed to recognize the limitations and harmfulness of imposing their subjective human thoughts on knowing God, Ego, and You. They are often using the data that fit their understanding, fashioned by what I call their egoscope, and ignoring that which didn’t, or displaying arrogance in failing to have a healthy respect for what they do not know and being unwilling to admit it. But I will not leave you in fear, because the truth about God, Ego, and You is very, very good. Together, these three Truths are the making of your earthly resurrection.

    PART ONE

    The Truth of God

Coming to know the truth about God involves two things that are equally important: knowing what God is, and knowing what God isn’t. Unfortunately, humans in their efforts to understand God have blurred the line between the two, while failing to recognize their human limitations in describing and defining God—then foisting their knowledge upon innocent and ignorant followers who came to view them as experts. Many such people have been clerics.

As a practicing Catholic in my youth, I came to learn many things about God from priests and nuns that I had to unlearn in my young adulthood, when I started thinking for myself rather than letting others do my thinking about God and religion. At that point, I could ask questions about God—not in defiance, but in an effort to earnestly fashion a relationship built upon truth and not the human limitations and ego issues of others. Many of these limitations, rooted in the higher ego power (e.g., need to control the flock) and lower ego flexibility (e.g., need to believe they owned the truth about God) issues of the cleric, left no room for questioning and an insistence on the maintenance of dogma. I had no clue in my younger years that these forces were at work. But, as my understanding of ego grew, the clouds and fog began to clear, allowing me to learn what I needed to learn and unlearn what I needed to unlearn about God.

So, what did I need to learn? I needed to learn that God is brilliantly simple and immediately available to all. That God is what was here before we as humans ever made our appearance on this earthly planet. There was love—not the word, but the unconditional, connective, unlimited, and unburdened force that was playing out in the universe. There was life, constantly being created, all worthy of being equally honored and respected because God was its source of creation and present within all of it. There was energy, allowing for healing and transformation when met with the light of truth and understanding. This energy allowed for unending evolution on both a personal and collective basis—and continues to do so today.

I also needed to learn that the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is was within myself and all beings, and that being it would open the door to a great life. A great life in which I could fully recognize that I had been given the Gift of my life, the Gift of being able to create my life, the Gift of my eternal life, and the Gift of God’s presence within me, at all times and all places. It allowed me to live the best version of my life and myself and was within my hands, giving me the opportunity to experience an earthly resurrection and the great life I was designed to live by God, Evolution, and the Wisdom of the Ages. Yes, God (or whatever word you choose) is very simple, straightforward, and available when you recognize the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, which is within your reach.

I also had to unlearn many ideas connected to God that are not true: the things I had learned about God that were not consistent with the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is. Many of them had been created by people, however well-intentioned, who distorted God in ways that ultimately created distance rather than a conscious connection to God. Many of them were rooted in unhealthy, imbalanced ego energy at work in the ego minds of people, forming their thoughts, feelings, and actions toward God. Many of them were shaped by the ego illusions I talk about in my book EgoSpiritualism: Awakening to Your Human and Divine Self. Such misconceptions include the illusions of separation, unworthiness, inequality, sensing all energy, human order, and human control (I will discuss them further in Chapter 1). We have a great deal to unlearn about God from the stories we’ve been told and the history we’ve heard, which stands in stark contrast to the beautiful simplicity of Divine Truth and the Divine Gifts we’ve been given. Leaving behind the falsehoods you’ve been taught about God will allow you to resonate naturally with the Divinity woven into your humanity by three million years of evolution: the foundation for earthly resurrection.

In Part One of this book, I’m going to ask you to construct a Godscope to better see what I am talking about. This Godscope contains a lens comprised of understanding the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is. This lens can serve as a powerful filter that shows what actually did or did not take place, providing a view into the deep past built upon what was there long before we as a human species ever came into being. Through your Godscope, you can gain a view that has not been contaminated by the limits of human reconstructions fashioned millions and billions of years after the events supposedly occurred. This view does not allow for ego-based illusions that have woven their way into the stories written about God and what did or didn’t take place in the distant past. Much of what has been written and said does not align with the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, you’ll come to recognize. When we are seeing things through our Godscope, we begin to hear Spirit’s voice speaking in our life—a voice that can be heard when we are being the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is and embracing each of the Divine Gifts we have been given. We must allow this voice to be heard and spoken in order to journey to our earthly resurrection.

I’m going to be saying many things that are antithetical to what you may have learned about God within religious teachings, in some important areas. They pertain to teachings about what transpired in the Garden of Eden, original sin, the need to be saved, the existence of hell, and related topics. Each is inconsistent with Divine Truth and only creates distance from it. Each one of these teachings weakens our connection to the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is. Each one of them precludes our earthly resurrection by distancing us from the understanding of the Divine Truth about God and that which dwells within us—our Divinity.

My thoughts about the limitations, inaccuracies, and untruths of ancient stories about God are also rooted in the belief that no human, no matter how inspired, can offer a literal description of what took place millions of years ago. In some respects, humans have come up with metaphors about what actually transpired to make palatable what could not be known or understood by the human mind. Unfortunately, many of these messages were compromised by the distance from the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is contained within them. Remember that not one word about God was ever written by God. For that matter, not one word attributed to Jesus in the Bible was actually written by him. Their presence in the New Testament took form after several decades of events and statements being passed forward via the oral tradition and translated from Aramaic to Hebrew (and later, to English).

But certain historic events did take place and, just like events today, they were being created by the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is. By using the lens of our Godscope, we must look deep into the past, the present, and the future, rather than using a lens built upon the preferences, limitations, and egoic issues of those constructing teachings and messages about God. They were no more qualified than you or me to write and speak about God. Why? Because we all possess the same Divine essence with which to offer spiritually intended messages about God. So, please filter everything I will be sharing with you about untruths connected to God through the awareness that it’s being said through the lens, the reference point, that God Is—Love, Life, and Energy, and that anything about God that falls short of this is lacking in accuracy and truthfulness—mainly due to imbalanced ego energy and seeing God through one’s egoscope, as I will be discussing a great deal in Part Two, The Truth of Ego.

I want to continue this introduction with an extremely important thought: God is not human. This may seem painfully obvious. But look at how often the descriptions of God involve human characteristics, such as assigning God a gender. Look at how we view God as having qualities like favoring some and not others, having feelings of anger or resentment, or deliberately exacting retribution for violating some rule or requirement. I think you get the idea. All of this amounts to turning God into our own image, and whether intentional or unintentional, this distorts and weakens our understanding of God. To put it another way, this is what happens when people are looking at God through their egoscope. That can lead to the formation of lots of non-truths about God when the creators of this non-truth are being influenced by unhealthy ego energy, and don’t know it. Too much or too little ego power, ego flexibility, or ego vulnerability flowing into one’s ego mind are the components of this egoscope. Again, we’ll get into this in more depth in Part Two.

Some may say that these descriptions are just an attempt to help us better understand God through a human frame of reference. Unfortunately, most people aren’t able to keep this abstraction in mind, and they relate to the descriptions of God within a literal and concrete human framework. This becomes the groundwork, often seen in religion and other places, for the right and wrong way to know, understand, and honor God. This, mixed with egoic energy issues, has led to lots of conflict within and between religions across the centuries. Again, they are Exhibit A as to what happens when too much human gets woven into the stories, songs, and messages constructed about God by people.

Humans shouldn’t be in the business of constructing—or even worse, creating—God unknowingly in our own image and likeness, because we’re much more likely to get God wrong than to get God right. Getting God wrong begins when we think about God as a who rather than as a what. The what of God is Love, Life, and Energy: simple, straightforward, and available to anyone who chooses to seek to better know God. This simplicity, straightforwardness, and availability gets lost when people start misconstructing and mis-creating God, often due to egoic issues that fuel their efforts.

One important mistruth about God that we must unlearn is that God does things the way we as humans do them. We often imagine that God sees, hears, touches, feels emotionally, chooses, judges, and thinks the way humans do. The truth is, God doesn’t think, feel, or do anything in the way that we humans do. God’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors emanating from the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is have arisen across billions of years and since the beginning of time, if there was such a thing. Looking at it in that light may allow you to recognize that your ability to experience beautiful scenes, taste delicious food, listen to good music, experience great sex, or run in a forest are the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of God being manifested as a result of the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, across the eons of time. The same goes for all of the incredible nature that surrounds us on this beautiful home called Earth that has been fashioned for us by the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is—a place that will never exist again in another place or time.

Getting God wrong not only happens when we turn God into a human, but also when we make God elusive—another important thing we must unlearn about God. God feels elusive when presented in highly abstract and mystical ways that end up hiding God from us rather than revealing God to us. I remember sitting through many sermons that made God feel more distant rather than connected to me. I now realize that those sermons were often filled with egoic illusions of separateness, unworthiness, and inequality, emanating from the speaker and being passed along to their listeners. These illusions placed God at a great distance from me as I internalized a belief in my unworthiness in relationship to God. As I have come to understand the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, I have come to learn that God would not want me to feel anything other than worthy of God, at all times and in all places.

I have also previously experienced God’s elusiveness when attempting to read books written by spiritual teachers, only to put them down early in the effort. These books held lots of abstractions and complexities, including rules and requirements that I and most people could never grasp or keep completely in focus. They required the capacity to think abstractly, symbolically, and metaphorically all at once, which doesn’t come naturally (or isn’t possible) for most people. Moreover, it’s unnecessary to think at this level in relation to God—it goes beyond the simplicity, straightforwardness, and availability of the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is. These writings and messages made God distant and unknowable—elusive—and left me feeling stupid or lacking in my inability to fully appreciate them. God and Divine Truth are simpler, more available, and easier to get to know than the mental demands of these resources let on. I think this is one of the reasons that many people quit religion that go beyond feeling that the messages don’t resonate with their intuitive sense of their spirituality and Divinity. The messages they hear also make them feel stupid and make God seem unknowable.

If someone—say, a wise man—writes about God in ways that are filled with lots of intelligent-sounding words and phrases (which others often can’t fully understand and appreciate), it doesn’t make for a revelation of God. If anything, it’s the opposite, because God is being made less available, not more so, by the abstractions and mysticism. Many succumb to the false belief that God, and understanding God, requires something beyond the limits of their own intellectual capacity. In some respects, they signal reverence for the greatness of God by finding a wise man or person to build the bridge to their connection to God, serving as a substitute for what they are lacking in their efforts to understand God. But their efforts are based on an illusion, because God would not want anything of the kind. You don’t need a go-between in coming to know Divine Truth. It’s not as complicated as that. Enjoy the stories, songs, and messages that are filled with themes expressing the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, which you may receive in religious settings or from clerics or spiritual teachers. But know them as a complement to your being the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is in your daily life. You don’t need to go anywhere, meet anyone, read any books, spend any money,
