Elizabeth Bennet opened her eyes and tried to blink the burning sand and salt away. It only took a moment for the heat radiating throughout her skin to take precedence over her eyes, however. She felt as if she had been roasting in the hot sun for days, every inch of her on fire. With every scrap of energy she could muster, Elizabeth lifted herself off of the shore and out of the lapping ocean water to look around. Once her vision cleared, she could finally see that she was on the beach of a completely isolated island.

But she had no memory of how she arrived there.

Elizabeth stood up, scanning the deserted island for any signs of life or civilization, but found nothing. The sun was blazing hot, and she knew she had to find shelter before it set. As she made her way along the beach, she came across a small cave in the rocky cliffs. It was not much, but it was better than nothing.

Elizabeth crawled into the cave and sat down with a heavy sigh. Her body was aching, and her mouth was parched from dehydration. She was thirsty and hungry, with no idea of how long she had been stranded on the island. Scrapes and bruises adorned her body, and she winced as she tried to make herself comfortable on the dirt floor of the cave. Her head throbbed, and she found it hard to concentrate. She tried to remember how she ended up there, but her mind was foggy. She could not recall anything beyond the last moments on the ship after a storm appeared out of nowhere.
