About this ebook
This is not the holiday Elizabeth Bennet expected...
After the tragic passing of her sister, Lydia, Elizabeth Bennet has become the guardian of Lydia's daughter, Helena. With a child and a pleasant (enough) fiancé by her side, Christmas at her childhood home promises to be one filled with joy. However, when she happens upon an old acquaintance, Elizabeth is shocked to find that this season may have a surprise or two in store for her yet.
Fitzwilliam Darcy did not plan to spend his Christmas in Meryton...
Following a series of unexpected and deeply unpleasant events at home, Fitzwilliam Darcy is more than happy to accept an invitation to visit his old friend Charles Bingley at his country home for Christmas. He is looking forward to rest, relaxation, and most of all... quiet. But when he arrives, he is quickly swept up into the holiday revelry of the Bennet family, Charles's in-laws. What starts as nuisance slowly turns into a pleasing distraction, especially when he is in the company of Elizabeth Bennet, a woman he once could hardly tolerate. But what has changed?
Can two former enemies with little in common find friendship and perhaps, love, this holiday season?
'A Curious Christmas Circumstance' is a 'Pride and Prejudice' variation filled with holiday romance, twists, and of course, a HEA for ODC!

CHAPTER 1
ELIZABETH
E lizabeth Bennet, please come collect this child from under my feet!
Mrs. Bennet was in the Longbourn kitchen, trying to assist their housekeeper, Mrs. Hill, as they prepared supper for Christmas Eve. This would be their first holiday together as a family since dear Lydia’s untimely passing the summer before. Their mother seemed determined to avoid any trace of sadness, especially for the sake of Lydia’s little daughter, Helena.
When Lydia and her husband George Wickham died in a carriage accident, it fell to Elizabeth to take on Helena’s care. As Elizabeth was meant to marry Wendell Davis in the new year, it seemed only natural that Helena become Elizabeth’s ward. Jane and Charles were expecting their first child in the spring, Mary moved to America the year before, and Kitty could not be trusted to tend to anyone but herself. Elizabeth welcomed the opportunity to care for her niece, whom she loved dearly.
Wendell, on the other hand, was still adjusting to the idea of being a father to another man’s child.
Elizabeth was engaged in hanging garland with her father and could not get to the kitchen.
Wendell, dear, could you find Helena before she drives mama mad?
Wendell, who was reading a paper in the corner, looked up with disinterest. I will be on the lookout for her. I am sure Mrs. Hill has matters well in hand.
Unfortunately, it became clear that Mrs. Hill did not. When Mrs. Bennet had recruited the housekeeper to assist her in the kitchen; they both ceased to
