About this ebook

What happens when the love spell you cast to conjure the perfect man comes knocking at your door?

Clarissa's from a long line of self-proclaimed witches, so when her great-aunt leaves her a sprawling eight bedroom McMansion in Manitou Springs—a Colorado mountain town thick with supernatural energy—she creates an occult-themed B&B that will attract visitors from across the country. But first, a soft opening and a girl's weekend where she leads her friends through a spell where they manifest their perfect partner.

Dallas is a nomad, a drifter, a beach bum in the summer, and a ski bum in the winter with a job and a bank account that allows him to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and wherever he wants. He doesn't know what drew him to the paranormal B&B versus an extended stay hotel, but the moment the innkeeper opened the door, he knew he found a place to settle his wandering spirit. Clarissa is like no woman he's ever met, and while her witchy vibes are adorable, he's not sure he believes in witchcraft, but he does believe in her.

She never expected him—the one man he's been dreaming of since she was a teenager—to knock at her door. Picture perfect down to the small scar on his chin and his big hands, he's everything she's asked the goddess to bring her, but when he tells her he's a non-believer, can she trust what's standing in front of her?

    PROLOGUE

We’re gathered in my kitchen—laughing, eating, and drinking on the last night of our girls’ weekend. We’ve had an amazing time christening my newly inherited eight-room B&B in Manitou Springs, Colorado. It’s the perfect time of year for them to visit as the occult is strong in this tiny community, and Halloween is its favorite time of the year.

Last night, we watched witchy movies, did tarot card and palm readings, and drank midnight margaritas. Today, we spent the afternoon at the Emma Crawford festival, had dinner at the Loop—more margaritas—before attending a twilight seance at the cemetery where guides told local ghost stories.

I grab everyone’s attention by handing each of them a notecard and a pen. Ladies, I have the perfect way to end this magickal weekend. I want you to write about all the characteristics of your perfect man. Physical, mental, and even spiritual. Be as specific as you can, but here’s the deal… even if you have someone in mind—an old crush you’ve harbored for years, perhaps—you cannot write his name or any detail that singles him out. For example: If David from high school has nine toes and is the only mechanic in town, you cannot write David with nine toes who fixes my car. Doing so violates his free will and would come back negatively on you tenfold.

Some women cackle. What are we doing, Clarissa?

I smile, grabbing a bundle of sage and sweetgrass from a drawer. We’re casting an attraction spell to bring the perfect man into our lives.

    Really? Sabrina asks.

    That’s awesome, Leonora laughs.

    Hell, yeah! Luna exclaims.

I love this idea. Tricia takes her pen and writes.

Will it work? Stella eyeballs Clarissa.

Of course, it’ll work. All you have to do is open yourself to the possibility of receiving love.

I already have my card filled out. I jotted it down months ago as soon as I started planning this weekend. The women in my life—some of whom I’ve known since I was a kid, some I’ve only known for a few years—deserve happiness.

    They deserve love.

They deserve a man who will treat them like the queen they are.

Fill those cards out and then come to the garden. I spark the sage and sweetgrass with my lighter and cleanse the doorway from the house to the garden, giving my friends a threshold to purify and walk through, before throwing the bundle into the fire pit.

Then I pull my card out of my pocket, rereading the descriptive words I wrote a month ago:

    - Well-endowed

    - Dark hair

    - Gold eyes

    - Chiseled jaw

    - At least one dimple

    - Straight teeth

    - Kissable lips

    - Tall, or taller than me

    - Smart, both book and street. Worldly knowledge is even better.

    - Traveled / adventurous

    - Kind with a great sense of humor

    - Blue-collar successful = down to earth

    - Good with his hands ;)

    - Amazing in bed

    - Well-endowed

Yes—well-endowed made my list twice. I’m not asking for a tripod or anything crazy like that, just enough to fill me and a smidge more. Maybe I’m a hooker, or maybe I know what I want. I feel no shame in desiring a man who will stimulate my body as well as my heart. Hopefully, he’ll stimulate my body over and over again until I can’t take anymore.

One by one, my friends make their way to the garden where the fire pit we sat around last night burns with a hint of sweet sage. I hand each one a pink candle, instructing them to stand in a circle around the pit and hold the candle in their right hand, the notecard in their left. I then walk around the circle with a bottle in my hand, placing one drop of oil on each of their cards.

    What’s this? Diana asks.

Ylang-ylang oil, I say as I put that vial down and grab a second one, giggling as I walk up to Melinda, who raises her brow at me in response.

I’m not going to ask everyone to get topless, but if you don’t want oil on your shirt, move it aside so I can mark your heart. This is rosewood oil, and it’s great for your skin, as well as incantations.

I turn the bottle with my thumb over
