    Why Make Cheese?

When I first set out on my journey to becoming more independent, crafts like producing cheese and soap seemed beyond the reach of my limited knowledge. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to use them.

Then, while browsing the neighborhood homebrewing/organic gardening store, I discovered a kit for making mozzarella. I went all out and created my first batch of handmade cheese.

It was fantastic. It was simple, and my wife was impressed (of course, I kept the kit hidden).

I really think that producing cheese is a terrific pastime. It is a rare talent that is popular as a gift or to bring to a party.

This straightforward mozzarella kit spiraled out of control, just like my past DIY endeavors.

The recipes for homemade cheddar cheese, yogurt, cream cheese, ghee, tofu, seitan, homemade equipment, rennet, and cheese cultures are included in this book.

Since producing cheese at home is a terrific hobby, there are many websites and classes available, especially if you have a goat or a cow on your property. However, few introductory seminars cover DIY tools, cultures, and bean-based nondairy products such as tofu.

Don’t assume producing cheese at home is too difficult or expensive; it’s a lot simpler than you may imagine. You could put fresh, homemade cheese on your dinner table tonight with a few very basic materials and tools (that I will show you how to make).

Think about how good it would feel to give someone a homemade gift basket with cheese, wine, and soaps that you made yourself by following the tips in this series.

How To Make Homemade Fresh Mozzarella Cheese

I made 30-minute mozzarella using a Ricki Carroll kit as my very first attempt at making cheese. My wife quickly advised me to purchase the hard cheese kit because the first attempt was so successful (I may have overdone it, and she may regret it because the fridge is now stuffed with experiments that aren’t yet mature enough to try).

I heartily recommend Ricki’s book, Home Cheese Producing: Recipes for 75 Delicious Cheeses, if you want to attempt making cheese at home. I’m the owner, and I believe the recipes are designed to be as straightforward as possible.

Making homemade mozzarella is quite easy, and it tastes fantastic and serves as a great introduction to making cheese at home. I used to believe that producing cheese was exclusively for highly experienced artists and was out of the grasp of regular people until I tried making my own mozzarella.

If you follow the instructions precisely, this is a straightforward recipe that is rather simple
