Prologue
Lillian looked out of the window, wondering what in the world had happened.
As her fifth birthday approached, so many dramatic life changes had taken place that her small, but highly intelligent, brain could simply not process the situation.
She looked out on a parking lot, but there were no cars.
She saw buildings, but no children.
There was grass that appeared the same as had been in her backyard, so long ago. However, she could not walk on it due to the vicious little burrs that hurt her paws.
It was all so confusing.
Lillian, silky terrier was bred simply to produce revenue. But at birth, she had a very slight defect, which made her un-breed-able.
What happened after that is a little heartbreaking, a lot hopeful, and a way to look at things from a dog’s point of view.
Year 1 – 2018 – Life as a Puppy
Lillian Grace Chamberlain was born on February 14, 2018, in Central Alabama as part of a litter of purebred silky terrier puppies. She didn’t know she was part of a puppy mill.
Her mother’s only purpose was to have lots of puppies. As soon as Lillian and her littermates were weaned, they were taken away from their mother.
Around three months of age, Lillian was put up for sale with an asking price of $2500. One by one her littermates were sold. Nobody took Lillian. Finally, after living for several weeks with no mother or siblings in a tiny kennel, fairly neglected, except for food and water, a nice older couple purchased her for the price of $1000.
These were very nice people. Lillian loved them so much. They taught her how to be housetrained, and how to sit on her cookie mat
to get treats in the kitchen.
The man was kind and patient with his wife being loving and gentle. She was not as attached to Lillian Grace as the man
