~~~~~ PG Excerpt ~~~~~
“Come to me.” The voice was a bare whisper, but it struck a chord in Daniel’s soul.
He turned. On the other side of the pool, a girl lay naked on a bed of moss. No. Not a girl. A woman. And such a woman Daniel had not seen in all his life. There could not be two of her. Not in Wales. Not in Europe. Not in all the world. Her skin seemed to capture the light of the moon. Capture it, and then emit it as a soft, lambent glow like silver through marble, a pearlescent sheen that at once revealed and hid the glorious, shadowed curves of her body. Her hair was a flowing river of platinum blonde. Her eyes, an emerald green like the first grass of spring.
“Come to me,” she repeated, pink lips shaping the words. Her body stirred, arms and legs shifting in invitation. Daniel’s mouth went dry. It was hard to focus on the woman’s face rather than her firm, milk-white breasts. Or the incredible curve of her rump, made for a man’s hand. Or the way those impossibly delicate legs led, inevitably, to the cleft between them, already glinting with womanly dew in the moonlight.
He took a step. Then another. Water rose around his ankles, his shins, his thighs, though it did nothing to cool the fiery ache in his groin. He waded across the pool, its stony, pebbly bottom firm under his feet. The water rose to his chest and then began to sink again. When he emerged, dripping, it was to find himself as naked as she, his clothes magically vanished. Those green eyes surveyed him, and Daniel suddenly wished, quite fiercely, that he had availed himself more often of the exercise equipment in the campus physical education center. He didn’t have a gut to suck in, thank Christ, but a set of washboard abs would have been welcome. And maybe biceps that looked like they could lift something heavier than a textbook. An engine block, for instance.
“Come to me,” the woman repeated, and now she was on her back, her arms stretched over her head, her entire body displayed in blatant, wanton invitation.
“I’m here,” he whispered.
Her hand reached out. Unwittingly, he took it. Her fingers were cool.
“Not yet. But soon, you will be. Now wake.
“Wake.
“Wake.”
~~~~~

“Sir?” A hand shook his shoulder. “You need to wake up.”

Daniel started violently, twitching and striking his temple against the side of the cabin. “Ow! Shit!” He rubbed his head, blinking blearily. “What?”

The stewardess backed away, one hand covering her mouth. Not Kate. Another one, older, with a matronly look about her. “We’ve landed, sir.” Her eyes glinted in suppressed amusement. “Welcome to Wales.”

    Chapter One

    Wales? Daniel Morgan stared at his laptop. Why do I have to go to Wales?

    The silver-haired man on his screen frowned severely. Because those are the conditions of your great-aunt’s bequest, Mr. Morgan, he said, his English accented with the lilt of Wales. He paused for what Daniel was sure was a carefully timed moment. If you do not feel this is possible, then we will have no choice but to offer the estate to the next person on the list. We’ve done it before, when the heir did not wish to visit their ancestral home. He shuffled papers. In this case, your cousin Bradley would receive the bequest.

    Brad? Daniel’s jaw set. He and his cousin had been close, once. But that was years ago. From everything he had heard recently, the guy had turned into a grade-A asshole.

    The estate, will, of course, pay for your transportation to Wales, lawyer Jones added smoothly. We are aware that airplane travel from the United States is not cheap.

    Daniel sighed and rubbed the sides of his nose. He’d read stories about people’s good fortune - a long-lost relative passing away and leaving someone a pile of cash. But in his case, the reclusive great-aunt who he had never met lived across the damn Atlantic Ocean. Instead of money that would help him pay down his student loans, he had apparently inherited nothing more than a cottage and a tract of undeveloped land. And he couldn’t even take title to it until he had visited the damn place.

    But it was June. His senior year wouldn’t start for another two months and more. And at the very least he could snag a free European vacation out of it. He looked around his dingy apartment, a few blocks away from the main campus at Southern Illinois University, and grimaced. Even in the bright sunshine of a summer morning, it looked run-down and seedy.

    He blinked, and realized that while he had been woolgathering, he had left the lawyer waiting for his answer.

    Well, hell. Why not? What’s the worst that could happen?

    Sure, he said at last. It sounds interesting. I’ve always wanted to see where my grandparents came from.

    Excellent. The older man beamed. Please allow my office to arrange transportation. He made a note on an old-fashioned legal pad. What day do you intend to leave for Wales?

    Daniel frowned. It was summer, which meant his schedule was wide open, without any classes or exams to worry about. He had a part-time job, of course. But he didn’t think Mama Juliana’s would go out of business if he missed a week or two. Other delivery drivers could pick up the slack. Some might even be grateful for the extra cash. Today’s Tuesday. I’ll need a day or two to pack and to make my arrangements. Would Thursday work for you?

    It’s not myself you have to satisfy in order to inherit, Mr. Morgan. Jones made another note on his pad. But I’m sure Thursday will be acceptable. I have your e-mail address and other contact information. Please keep an eye out for the airline tickets. I should have them to you within the hour. If you do not see them by, say… He looked up, obviously converting time zones in his head. "Noon, your time, please contact my office.

    Oh. And don’t rent a car when you arrive, either. I will arrange transportation from Cardiff to Llanerfyl.

    Llanerfyl? Daniel tried to copy Jones’ pronunciation. But what was lilting and charming in the older man’s mouth came out of his sounding like an evil monster on a Saturday morning cartoon, and he flushed awkwardly.

    Jones smiled. You’ll get the hang of it, lad, he said. Good luck.

    Thanks, Daniel replied with a grimace, and ended the call.

    When the screen went black, he closed the lid of his laptop and looked around the apartment. But there was no one to inform of his good fortune. His two roommates had both gone home for the summer, and would probably only show up for a weekend or two before classes started back up again in August. Not that Daniel would miss Tyler and Griff all that much. He grimaced, looking at a stain on the carpet, an unwelcome reminder of a party last fall. In all honesty, Daniel would have preferred to live alone, to be honest. But the cost of a one-bedroom apartment, even a studio, was too high to justify the cost.

    My student loans are big enough already.

    Briefly, he considered calling his mother. Then he thought better of it. Madeline Sinclair hated every reminder of her ex-husband and his family, even going as far as to urge Daniel to change his name from Morgan back to Sinclair when Daniel was in high school. Lew Morgan had been afflicted with a terminal erection, if Madeline was to be believed, and unable to say no to any woman who wanted to lay the tall, handsome, dark-haired man with the deceptively easy grin. Lew had left his mother when Daniel was barely three, though tracking him down to actually serve divorce papers had taken longer. Lew’s brother Thomas hadn’t lasted much longer in his own marriage, leaving two broken and bitter families behind.

    No, his mother wouldn’t be happy to hear of his good fortune. In fact, she would probably try to talk him out of going to Wales altogether. Though she might take a certain sour satisfaction in learning that her never-do-well husband and his brother were probably dead. Or if not dead, so far off the grid that even a dedicated attorney couldn’t find hide or hair
