About this ebook

Jenna

When I took a job in the middle of nowhere, I never imagined myself falling for a seven-foot green orc, but when I meet Talon, sparks fly. He is everything I didn't know I was missing in my last relationship—caring, thoughtful, and irresistibly attractive.

Talon

I left my clan to learn about humans, but I never expected to find my mate. But she's so tiny and small and human,  I'm scared my instincts will hurt her, that I will hurt her. She's kind and gentle and lovely, and I want to take her like the beast that I am.

Can Jenna and Talon find their way to love despite their differences? Find out in this steamy, fast-paced monster short romance that will leave you breathless.

As I drive up the mountain, I tap the dash to the beat of the pop music. The curves are tight, and my tiny Toyota is huffing and puffing. I glance at the GPS on my phone and scowl at the message from my ex, Keith.

I won’t let myself cry again. Instead, I swipe away the notification. He’s a jerk, and I’m better off without him in my life.

The bars on my phone are disappearing one by one, which makes me smile. My friends and family think I’m insane for leaving the city, but I couldn’t escape fast enough. And it isn’t just because of Keith and his cheating.

I have a degree in biology that I’ve never used, and this job promised a fresh start. Not only would I get to work with the animals I love, but I’d get to do it with a beautiful view. My dad and I spent summers camping up here, and they were some of the best times of my life.

Following the road, I pass through the tiny town of Red Top. I notice a cluster of buildings—including a small coffee shop, a mountain sports supply shop, and a pizzeria—but they are gone in a flash. I’m headed even farther up the mountain and yawn to pop my ears.

I’ll miss my dad, but it isn’t like I’ll be on another planet. I can still call and visit for the holidays although once winter sets in I’m sure travel on the mountain roads will be harder. Right now, the sun is shining, and the weather is warm, but I know that can change quickly up here.

Another ten miles go by before I pull into the small parking lot. I stop my car in the employee part of the lot and climb out. The sign on the big building reads Red Mountain Wildlife Center and Lodge. I turn around, and as far as I can see are trees. It’s beautiful.

I grab my backpack but leave the rest of my stuff in the car before crossing the parking lot and heading in through the double doors. Across from the entrance sits the half-round of a front desk where a woman with red hair greets me with a smile. She’s about my age and her T-shirt is green with Animals deserve love too stamped across it.

Welcome, she says. My name is Lark. How can I help you?

Hi, I’m Jenna Morgan, I say, adjusting my backpack on my shoulder. I’m here to start work today.

Awesome, Lark says, sliding some things around on the desk. Here’s your ID badge and lanyard, and you can go straight to the supervisor’s office. She gestures to the long hallway behind her.

I take the badge and put it around my neck as my stomach churns. I really am doing this. I must have looked apprehensive because
