    Introduction: Wisdom’s Way

Colossians 2:3 (NKJV) in whom (Jesus) are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

The Hebrew concept of wisdom is so much more than just knowing information. It is the art or craft of living well in God’s earth. In the Bible, the first place the word wisdom is used is to describe a craftsman, not an intellectual.

Exodus 28:3 (NKJV) So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.

Two truths must be established in your heart to fuel your lifelong pursuit of wisdom. First, all of God’s wisdom is in you in the person of Jesus.  Intimacy with Him will release the wisdom of God in the fear of the Lord.  Secondly, wisdom must be sought after with wholehearted devotion.

Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV) A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,

We must attain the wisdom that is Jesus. Paul encourages us to pray and ask for the wisdom that flows from intimacy with Jesus.

Ephesians 1:17 (NKJV) that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

Start your daily journey on Wisdom’s Way with a prayer.  I recommend praying James 1:5 back to the Father.

James 1:5-6 (NKJV) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. [6] But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

Here's a sample of praying the Bible back to God:

Father God, today I come humbly before You to grow in wisdom and the knowledge of You.  I ask boldly and believe that You will give me wisdom because you promised that You would. I ask in faith in the name of Jesus. Amen

Every day I will give you the entire text of the chapter in the New Kings James Version. Read it! Don’t skip over His word to get to mine.  If you would prefer a different translation, feel free to read in your translation of choice. Read it slowly, listening to the voice of Holy Spirit in your heart.  Next, read the daily devotional entry to get another perspective of the chapter.

REMEMBER: Just because you see some insights that are different than mine doesn’t mean that either one of us is necessarily wrong – just different. The Scriptures are so deep that no one person could ever plumb the depths of their wisdom.

I’m excited that you are on this journey in wisdom’s way. As you take time to daily pursue Jesus in the book of Proverbs, I pray that the wisdom of God will flow into you.  I bless you with His presence that will strengthen you in the inner man and make you contagious with His joy and peace!

    Day 1

    Proverbs Chapter One

Proverbs 1:1-33 (NKJV) The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: [2] To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, [3] To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity; [4] To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion— [5] A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, [6] To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles. [7] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. [8] My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother; [9] For they will be a graceful ornament on your head, And chains about your neck. [10] My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. [11] If they say, Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; [12] Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, like those who go down to the Pit; [13] We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil; [14] Cast in your lot among us, Let us all have one purse— [15] My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; [16] For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood. [17] Surely, in vain the net is spread In the sight of any bird; [18] But they lie in wait for their own blood, They lurk secretly for their own lives. [19] So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners. [20] Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. [21] She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: [22] "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge. [23] Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will
