    WHO IS BJ PAIGE?

    I

    am Dr. BJ Paige, a top Workforce Development Motivational Speaker who focuses on changing the lives of youth and young adults. I was born in the Nation’s Capital, Washington, DC, and I am a proud native of Prince George’s County, Maryland. I am a proven trailblazer in the field of Workforce Development, where I help people find their career. My passion is to help underserved youth and the returning citizens population, where I am now the first ever Returning Citizens Liaison for Prince George’s County, Maryland. I have tons of accolades to include specializing as a Master Facilitator, Life Coach, National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) member and I am a Veteran of the United States Air Force where I spent my time in Security Forces. I have been recognized as one of the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) 48 Men of Power and also the Greater Washington Community Foundation Emerging Leader Award, the inaugural award of its kind.

    I spent over 12 years serving the people in my community. Here are a few highlights, I was a 2018 candidate for Prince George’s County Council, District 7; I was named Top Forty Under 40 for Prince George’s County; I was honored with The Maryland General Assembly Official Citation Awardee for my Community Commitment; awarded the Citizen of the Year from Omega Psi Phi Fraternity – Gamma Pi Chapter; presented the Real Good People Award WPGC 95.5 and a ton of honors to speak to my work in the community. With my focus on career development in higher education, early in my career, I worked as the Executive Assistant to the Health Sciences Executive Team at Howard University under the guidance of President Wayne A. I. Frederick. I functioned as a Youth Career Consultant for Prince George’s Economic Development Corporation and Youth Business Consultant for the KEYS (Knowledge Equals Youth Success) Program at Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation.

    I have partnered with several civic based programs feeding the underserved, worked with YAP (Youth Advocate Programs); I was the NAACP Youth Council Advisor – Prince George’s County Branch; worked as the Executive Director for Run Hope Work, a nonprofit for at-risk young adults ages 20-24 in Washington, DC’s toughest areas in Ward 7 and Ward 8; Founder of Boys 2 Bowties, a mentor program with emphasis on helping young men grow from adolescence to adulthood; functioned as the DC Metro Director for the Baltimore-DC Metro Building Trades Council; and served as the Associate Director at Flikshop School of Business, where we helped prepare students for life as an entrepreneur in the gig
