    The Curse of Marie Laveau

    Sarah had always felt like an outsider. She had grown up in Bayou La Batre but never felt like she belonged there. Her mother had died when she was young, and her father had turned to alcohol to cope with his grief. He had become abusive, and Sarah had spent most of her childhood trying to avoid him.

    Sarah had fallen in with the wrong crowd when she was a teenager. She had started using drugs and getting into trouble, leading her down a dangerous path. She had lost friends, family, and even her job.

    Her worst mistake, however, was getting involved with a man who was bad news. He had convinced her to get involved in illegal activities, and before she knew it, she was in over her head. She had gotten arrested and ended up in jail.

    Sarah eventually left Bayou La Batre, hoping to start a new life elsewhere. She had gone to college and gotten a degree in social work. She had wanted to help struggling people as she had been.
