Charlotte L R Kane
I have a degree in Business Management and started writing in 2006 when I was first introduced to fanfiction. From there my passion from writing has been discovered. However, it was only in 2012 that I decided to start writing stories that were not fanfiction and came across the option to have my work published. I started by adapting some of my fanfictions into ‘proper’ pieces of works and published them. From there I have continued my writing journey and expanded my style and genres. Although I prefer to write about the darker sides of life, I love the challenge of exploring situations and genres that I have not done before. For me, writing is about escaping reality. It is freedom. You can create the world, choose who lives and dies, decide if good or evil will prevail. It’s expressing your thoughts and feelings.

AUTHOR NOTE
This is a collection of poetry and short stories that I have written over the years and have decided to collate into an anthology. The stories are short stories, most around 200-250 words each, so they are quick reads. Please enjoy this collection.
BRIGHT GREEN EYES
Those eyes
They are beautiful
Gorgeous even
He could lose himself in those pools
He could happily drown in them
He was mesmerised as he stared into them
They glistened when she smiled
He could see fish swimming in them
How he wished he could swim in those eyes
He would happily swim through those pools for hours Days even
She smiled at him, and his heart beat faster
He could feel himself being sucked into these eyes
His body shimmered as he was transported
He watched his existence disappear
Reappearing in his new home
Those eyes
Those bright green eyes
EVERYTHING
Your skin is like ice
Mine is like fire
You’re all that I want
You’re my heart’s desire
You’re cold to the touch
Your skin is like stone
Feels like electricity
Shooting through all my bones
You are the predator
I am the prey
Seeing you struggle
Kills me everyday
I love you
Even though you’re a monster
But to me, you are everything
That I need
And more
FADING AWAY
My mind is racing
My thoughts are jumbled
My heart beats slower
My body weakens
The darkness takes over
He takes me in his arms
He covers me
Hides me, consumes me
I feel myself falling
My eyes begin to close
My body begins to fade
My heart starts to stop
He smiles down at me
Wraps me in his arms
Pulls me closer
Laughs
I smile as I start to disappear
The hurt, the pain
It goes
I fade away
HOME
Cold. Shiver. Wind
Quiet Nothing moves
No rustling No howling
Darkness Dim light
Light reflects off car windows
Silence The fox sneaks through the grass
Cautious Careful
Ripping Dragging
Cans lay still on the road
The bag is ripped open
Fox leaves Proudly
Screeching Slamming Thudding
Beeping as the door open
Banging as it closes
Thumping as he ascends
Clunking as he fumbles with the key
Clink as metal meets frame
Cha-chunk, cha-chunk, cha-chunk
Horns blare Whizzes by
Silence Darkness
Home
THE HUNTED
I am the predator
You are the prey
I am the hunter
You are the kill
You sustain me
Fill my hunger
Your blood runs through my veins
I feel your heart beating
As I lean closer
I press my lips
Against your neck
Your pulse races
Your breath increases
You become still
Your body stiffens
My lips caress your neck
Feel the blood flowing
My teeth ache, I need to taste
I smell your hair Strawberries
And your body smells of apples
My teeth gently pierces your skin
You gasp but do not move
I bite harder, deeper
Feel your body relaxing against mine
Your blood flows through me
Making me feel alive
I hold you gently as I feed
Feel your body weaken
Hear your thoughts
Share my thoughts
We are one; we feed each other
Without you I am nothing
Without me you are powerless
I slowly retract, the blood seeps
Down your arm
You look but are not scared
There’s no need to be afraid
You know I do not harm
I wipe my mouth
Need to stay clean
For the next process
I open my wrist
My blood seeps
Watch your mouth lower
Wrap around the wound
I hear you drink
Hear each
