About this ebook

This book comes from a man who has walked with God in pastoral ministry for over five decades. In it Pastor Joseph Khohlisa Dube reflects on ministry and wishes if he were to begin over. Who doesn't feel that way when looking at things we have done in the past? Every profession is dynamic and begs the need for retooling. Truth be told many times

This book is dedicated to all young pastors serving in God’s Vineyard, to those who intend to join the Gospel Ministry, and to church members who value and cherish their church membership.

    Acknowledgements

Firstly, I thank God deeply for affording me forty-two years of His precious time in the gospel ministry.

Secondly, I thank my dear wife, Penina Dube, who has been a true helper in gospel ministry and during the writing this book.

Thirdly, I thank my five children—Sibongile, Forward, Londiwe, Patience, and Dorcas—whom God gave as part of my parental development.

Fourthly, Lastly, I thank those whom I rubbed shoulders with during my entire ministry.

    Preface

I have had the honor of reading the manuscript of Pastor Joseph K. Dube’s book. The title, If I were to do it again, is fascinating because all of us feel that way when we reflect on where we have been.

The book is a light read, allowing the reader to focus on words of wisdom from a tested servant of God. The book also has the advantage of being small and portable, thus allowing one to carry as a constant reminder of the pitfalls and landmines to be aware of and to avoid.

Here is a book that all young pastors should read as they begin their ministry. I recommend this book as a primer for the first-year theology students, particularly those who plan to serve God in African contexts. It is a must read for those who are beginning their ministerial assignment.

Personally, I have been blessed by Pastor Joseph K. Dube’s reflections on many areas of ministry. I too wish I could begin again.
