About this ebook

It's Autumn. Is there a better time to fall in love?

Imari Haines has had it with the gossip. The whole town is acting like she's their very own Runaway Bride. A plus-size, black version of Julia Roberts that left a perfectly nice boy at the altar. Her family is no exception. Her mother won't stop making passive-aggressive comments.

Exhausted by this charged atmosphere, a boss that doesn't appreciate her, and the never-ending town rumors, Imari makes a bold decision. Come autumn, she moves to Appeley (a small town in Hill Country) and never looks back. In Appeley, for the first time ever, Imari feels welcome, happy, and unapologetically herself. She tries new things, makes brand-new friends and, while attending the fall apple festival, she accidentally bumps into a very familiar face…

Cassidy Martinez was her childhood best friend and partner in crime. Now, she has grown into a stunning, confident woman, and Imari can't help noticing.

Should she take a risk? Can the two of them pick up where they left off, or is being friends not going to be enough this time around?

An F/F Black BBW Sapphic Romance featuring plus-size main characters, a small town, autumn themes, butches and studs, motorcycle rides, coffeeshops, childhood friends-to-lovers romance, and tons of found family feels.

To Starr, the one who lights the way for me, and to my beloved mother who always knew I would get here.

    Foreword

Fall Into You was supposed to be a simple story of Black queer love and fat acceptance. It was a story that although deeply personal to me, was simply a shot of happiness in an otherwise dark place. This book had all the things that I loved wrapped up into a tiny novella.

Looking back, when I had initially outlined this book in an hour with every intention to submit it to an Autumn themed romance anthology; it never occurred to me that 'Fall Into You' would change my life.

A year later, I am overwhelmed and deeply grateful for all the support this book has gotten. 'Fall Into You' has opened so many doors for me and touched so many other lives. In an industry where the common knowledge is that Black fat people on the cover don't sell. The hundreds of readers of 'Fall Into You' have proven them wrong.

It turns out that there is a need for simple cozy Black fat queer romances.

I want to thank all of my readers for taking a chance on my book and for loving Imari and Cassidy as much as I do.

    Chapter One

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,

    Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;

Conspiring with him how to load and bless.

    — To Autumn by John Keats

Imari felt nothing but dread at the sickening familiar ringtone that echoed through her tiny studio apartment. She groaned, disturbing her cat, who lay next to her. Bramble gave a very affronted yowl for messing with him.

    Imari would apologize later.

She hid underneath the warm comfortable duvet, protecting herself against the cool chill of the November morning. Imari waited, biting her lip as the phone rang and rang.

After what seemed like forever, Imari closed her eyes in relief as the phone went suddenly silent. Honestly, she wanted to hide here forever.

Imari winced as very sharp claws dug through her fleece pajama pants.

The phone rang again, and with a tired sigh, Imari threw the covers off of her and, with shaking hands, grabbed her phone. Imari's stomach churned with anxiety as she looked at the display.

    Mom.

Imari closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her fingers paused between the accept or decline button. She bit her lip and tapped on the green button.

You finally answered. Her mother said, sharply.

Imari winced. S-sorry, I was sleeping.

At this time of day? Her mother said, affronted. The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; he will seek at harvest and have nothing.

Of course, her mother would start with the Bible quotes.

    Imari Elizabeth Haines--

Mom? Imari interrupted tiredly. What did you need?

What I need is a daughter who will show more respect for me than telling me three weeks from Thanksgiving that they weren’t coming and in an email, no less!

Imari winced. She knew sending that email was a mistake but it was the only way Imari could tell her mother without being talked into going to yet another painful family dinner. Especially
