Prologue

EVERYONE I KNOW IS thinking it that I am a simple guy. That is not true. I am a man who does not want to obey it’s school rules and laws of the town. I love breaking rules, and falling in love with my whole heart, Adam.

From childhood, I wanted to live a happy life where I can be happier In my wildest dreams, I have not thought o meeting a man of my life. It made me choose him or my family. I was sure that I am not going to be happy without him. Caroline (Carol)

AT THE THIRD PERSON’S POV:

It happened at the end of the summer.

It’s simple August evening was not the same as every year. It was the same beautiful but not the same when meteors started falling down. That was a truly beautiful night. That exactly the same thing was thought of by a dark-haired boy. He was walking down the street in the evening. He has dark hair and beautiful blue eyes. Some of people have said that you can see the sea in them. He also thought that meteors could bring dreams to reality.

AT THE SAME TIME

AT ADAM’S POV::

Yesterday was a truly beautiful night! Adam thought. I think I am not the only one who has thought of a wish at that time.

My dream was simple, and it was to find a girl who I could love. I want a woman who could be my whole world. I will start a twelve grade in September, and I should consider trial exams. Still, I am mostly thinking about myself and finding my future girlfriend. I want to fall in love. I want to fall in love and do not think about anything else, just a girl close to me. I thought and kept walking.

I was walking down the cliff, and down the cliff were a small beach and sea. I was not sure if that was a river. I have never have dared to cross to the other side.

What even is there? I thought. I started running down the cliff to see whoever was lying down there. When I almost reached the sand, I saw that this creature also had a human shape. A human!

When I realized that creature was a human. I started running faster than before. When I got closer, I realized that person was a girl. She was lying on the sand. I have noticed that she also has dark hair and wears dark clothes. I also have noticed a blue star tattoo on her shoulder.

Miss, is everything alright? I asked. I noticed she was still unconscious, so I placed a small perfume bottle close to her nose. I was always carrying it around since I was unsure when I might need it.

I saw how she started to wake up, and I sighed in relief.

Where am I? Who are you? she asked, and I could tell she was scared of me.

I am Adam. What is your name? I asked." You are at a beach.

I am Caroline, she said. How did I get here? she asked again.

I found you here unconscious. So I used some of my perfume to wake you up, I said.

Thank you for helping me, she said and smiled.

She looks so pretty. She might be my age. I must ask her about it.

What is your age? I muttered. I hadn’t thought at that moment that she might hear me.

I am eighteen, a woman said. "Why are you asking?

I am also eighteen, I said and smiled," I was curious about it.

Can you help me? she asked.

What do you need? I asked.

I want to find a tax phone. I want to call my parents, she said.

I can give you mine, I said.

I took out the phone from my pocket and gave it to her. I watched how she wrote down her parent’s phone number and talked with her for a few mins.

Thank you, she said and returned my phone. Soon my parents will come and take me home, Caroline smiled.

If you don’t mind me asking, I was wondering how did you get here in the first place? I asked.

I was watching a meteor rain close by. I think that I tripped and fell down, Caroline said, I probably lost my consciousness, and you found me, she finished talking, and I nodded.

That is so weird, I said.

What is weird? she asked, confused.

It is strange that until me nobody has found you, I said.

It’s my parent’s friend’s house, so nobody goes here, Caroline said," I now kind of got curious about how you got here in the first place.

A downhill close to the fence is not that tall, so I climbed it over, I said.

While talking, I noticed that the coat on her wrist was ripped off.

Are you okay? I asked and pointed there.

It is nothing. I am sure that it will heal soon, Caroline said. My parents are here, she said.

I looked in the distance and saw a car arriving.

Are we are going to meet again? I asked.

I am not sure. Goodbye, she said and sat in the car.

I watched how the car took her away.

Goodbye, I said and smiled.

I hope that I will meet you again. It was pleasant meeting, you, Caroline.

It was some time after we met, and I was thinking about her from time to time until we have met for the second time.

AFTER SOME TIME

AT ADAM’S POV:

Hi everyone, my name is Adam. I am seventeen, and I live in a Syrium. I am soon going to be eighteen. You are wrong if you think I live inside of the star. I live in a town that got this type of name. All of these townspeople almost know other people since we never go outside our town walls. If we wanted to talk to other townspeople, that would be impossible since all the town has a big stone fence covered in electricity. Also, the fence is protected by the town’s security. Nobody knows the correct reason for that fence. Still, the most believable reason is that it protects us from other townspeople and their dangerous illnesses. Because of that, there is a possibility that Syrium town is the only one on the continent.

Since our town was made by a star name, our town is separated into seven categories. White, brown, red, purple, green, and grey. People’s separation into categories happens at the end of twelve grade. It always happens in test form. After the tests, is the choosing ceremony. It is a ceremony, where all of the students have to choose in front of important people in the town. It is happening because your skills are the most important thing in the town or society. All students must know their skills, or they won’t be accepted by society. That is why this test is so important. Also, our town has a phrase that almost became law in this town. A skills are more important than life, but they never are essential as a family . It means that if you got your family friction, you must choose that place, or you won’t be accepted in society. It is rare to see someone with different section skills, but it sometimes happens.

I am a smart student, so I would be chosen for the grey section. In the worst case, I won’t be taken to the purple section. It is called an unteachable one since it has people who do not fit into any frictions. Let me tell you about other sections.

WHITE - It usually has biophysics or biochemists. They are people who use their physics, biology, or chemistry skills to make medicine and stuff like that. They can all of them to use in practice. Because of them, our town has food firms and medicine. And other things that I am not going to mention at this moment. We call them Bio-chemo-physics or BCHF, or science fiction.

BROWN - To the brown section usually belongs people who are skilled in fighting, and sports skills. They are also the people who have less amount of fear since they deal with some dangerous situations. I heard that the biggest amount of fears they ever recorded was ten. In their section, fewer fears mean the more better job in that section. Also, their strength is really important, which can make them get kicked out of the purple section. We call them BK or Unfeared ones. Some people call them unfeared fighters, and they are mostly town security.

RED- This section belongs to mathematics, informatics, and geography people. They usually have those skills from a young age, and nobody gets surprised when they get chosen there. Because of them, we got all the computers, equipment, and all the other stuff we might need. We call them Geo-info-mathematics, GIM, or Techo-section. I love them to call Tehno’s for a joke.

GREEN - This section is always closer to the GIM since it has art and drawing people. They can make beautiful drawings and sketches for buildings or just town decorations. They also have music students, so they are pretty chill. We call them TAM tolerance artists.

GREY- This chapter belongs to people with skills in history, ethics, and all god’s stuff. Most people who have these skills become lawyers or people who keep all the laws intact. It’s weird to think, but they are good at their job. It is mostly because they always respect and take care of others. They are called TTV or Truth-laws section. Also, they can be called Truth keepers.

Purple - are people who are not accepted into the other sections. They are considered unteachable. They are called UO - unteachable ones. Nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to go there. There is a good reason for it. 

In the end, you need to understand this: WHITE - BCHF (science), BROWN - BK (fearless), RED - GIM (techno), GREEN - TAM (tolerance/artists), GREY-TTV (truth keepers or truth/law), PURPLE - UO (unteachable ones).

I am from the TTV section, and my parents are from this place. It rarely happens that different section of people gets married. After I finish the test, I will get a section where I will be happy. I miss Caroline, but I hope to meet her again. Tomorrow is our new school year, and everything will be okay.

AFTER SOME TIME

AT THIRD PERSON’S POV:

New year ceremony at Syrium gimnasium went pretty easily. After new year ceremony all students went to their classrooms. After telling schedule teacher made all of students sit down since he had an anouncment to make.

GOOD DAY, STUDENTS. I want all of you to introduce Caroline. She is going to study here for the last two years. I hope that some of you at the end of the year will continue your studies at the best sections of the town. I checked her last marks from her previous school, and I can tell that she is truly a talented student, a teacher said.

Hello, my name is Caroline, she said.

Good day. Nice to meet you, Caroline, all the students said and smiled.

Caroline started to look around the classroom, and it took her not a long time to recognize Adam. Then, finally, she recognized those blue eyes she had seen not long ago.

Adam. Caroline whispered.

Caroline, Adam whispered and smiled a bit.

You know her? One of the classmates asked Adam.

I do not know her. I can not know all of the people who live in this town. I mean, if we would we want to know other people, that would be impossible, Adam said, and others nodded.

It is enough, the teacher said. Find an empty spot and sit down.

Caroline nodded and sat down. She sat down close to the Adam and smiled.

Don’t forget, after a class, shows her around the school, the teacher said, and everyone nodded.

AFTER A LESSON

AT ADAM'S POV:

I could not believe that I had met her again. I walked out of the classroom and saw how she walked closer to me.

Can you show me around school? Caroline asked.

I can, I said and smiled.

It took me about thirty mins to show her around the school.

This is our cafeteria, and I think it’s the last thing that you need to know, I said.

Can you explain me a bit more? Caroline asked.

Sure. That is a cafeteria, we are usually eating here after four lessons. In this room, we have celebrations, and if you use that list you find your lectures and rooms where teachers are lecturing them, I said. Another important thing that every class from eight to twelve takes care of is school and homeroom. One class takes care of school for one week, and then after the week, classes are swapping. Except for the homeroom of course.

I kept talking until I noticed how she started staring into my eyes.

Something is wrong? I asked.

Why are you acting like that? Caroline asked with a bit annoying voice.

You are a new student, and I am showing you around it, I said.

It is not what I am asking! You are acting as nothing had happened, ut we have met a month ago. You became a friend of mine, even though I knew you for a few mins. I do not want to know that I still feel the same, Caroline smiled.

It’s alright, but I do not want others, for now, to know about our relationship, I said.

After a few mins, a school bell invited us to another lesson.

"-

How do you know her? Violet asked. She is well known from school as a person who loves talking about others. It is a reason why others do not trust her as much as before.

Maybe you saved her once? Kim asked. He was the type of classmate who believed in heroes and stuff. I was not disturbed by it.

Maybe she is your secret girlfriend? The one you never told someone about it? Nick asked. He was almost like Violet, who had had many girlfriends.

No, no, and again, no! I said with an annoyed tone. Maybe Carolline just thought I was a different person. I am not the only one Adam in the damn world. Also, in the town, I am not the only person with a dark hair and blue eyes.

I was happy when the school alarm invited us to the last lesson of today. However, I will get tired of answering all of their questions.

AFTER SOME TIME

AT THIRD PERSON’S POV:

After a lecture, she was the one who had to listen to other students talking about her and Adam.

What sector you come here from? Kim asked.

I will tell you later, Caroline said and smiled.

Why did you decide to attend this school? Alex asked.

My parents moved here, Caroline said.

Are you Adam’s girlfriend? Violet asked.

No, I am not, Caroline said.

How you are so strong? Alex asked.

I trained, Caroline said and smiled.

Caroline kept answering their questions, but there seemed no end to their questions.

I think that is enough for today, Caroline said.

After their talk, Caroline talked to Adam for a while and walked back home. So that is how I ended the school day in the Syrium gymnasium.

AFTER SOME TIME

AT THIRD PERSON’S POV:

Other school days went easily, and no one noticed how fast the day before exams went.

In the first week happened, a few homeroom meetings. In those few meetings, students had to choose their jobs at school. It was important to keep everything stable since everyone knew their tasks. The gymnasium has five different school levels, so eight students had to keep everything in the proper order. Like keep students from running around and things like that. All students were separated into groups of two or three. Nobody was so happy, Adam and Caroline, who wanted to spend more time together. All important positions in the classroom were decided by voting. All of the classmates knew each other from other grades, so it was an easy thing to do. Alex became the class representative, and Rose became his helper. Other students got tasks knowing their abilities.

Other students have to do hall-checking duty and clean homeroom. In my class are twenty-six students, so knowing duties are quite important."

AFTER CLASSES

AT THIRD PERSON’S POV:

After classes ended, Adam saw how Caroline talked with other girls and classmates since she needed to find a library. Adam noticed that she suddenly got sadder, so he walked closer.

What happened? Adam asked.

I was looking for one book, but nobody seems to be having it. The library does not have one, so I am looking for another one, Caroline said and sighed.

I think that I can help you since I have a library at home. We can check there, Adam said.

I checked in a library, so this idea sounds good to me, Caroline said and smiled.

I could take you to my home, or I can bring it to you tomorrow, Adam said.

We can go to your place, Caroline said and smiled," I going to grab my coat, and we can go.

Alright, Adam said.

See you soon, Caroline said and walked off,

AFTER A BIT OF TIME

AT ADAM'S POV:

I waited for Caroline, and then we started walking in my home direction.

I like this school, Caroline said.

I like it too, but more I can not wait for choosing the day, I said.

I am also waiting for this day, since it almost chooses our future, Caroline said.

You are right, but first, we must pass exams and wait for soon to happen holiday, I said.

I think that you are right. First, we must do what is ahead of us, then we can think about our future, Caroline said.
