Jack Bybee

In 1972, while attempting to escape the negative vibrations of apartheid (South Africa) the author fell very, very, very ill from double pneumonia. So ill that he flatlined. The journey he had anticipated from Africa to Europe did not materialize. A life changing journey was the alternative. Memories of Eternity is based on that journey, a near death experience (NDE).Bybee is resident in Arizona, USA, where he continues exploring life, writing and art. His only hope in writing Memories of Eternity is to help others understand what happens when our spirits reach Death Consciousness. He is available for Interview.www.memoriesofeternity.com

Memories of Eternity Life. Death. Love, then what? (2nd Edition) - Jack Bybee

    Introduction:

Memories of Eternity are what the majority of us do not have, that I am so delighted I, and many other NDErs have, is what I term, memories of Eternity. In fact, that is all that sets the NDEr apart from anyone else, but they are wonderful memories.

The text, as written here, is as if the events of the near-death experience I draw on, happened yesterday. As I told a friend, who remarked on this very issue at brunch recently, …but it did only happen yesterday… as far as I am concerned – I know 1972 is a while ago, and those are the memories I am drawing on – in reality – it feels as fresh and as clear as yesterday. Why is this? The enormous emotional impact that the event has on the persona. For the more emotional the event, the longer lasting the memory of the event.

It will therefore be clear to any reader, that 40 years back is, to many, half a lifetime, if not more. Memories fade. False memories creep in. I can make no excuses for some events that might have been misconstrued. Then again, with something as subjective as the NDE, it is purely as I experienced events – and as I now remember them. So this is how I remember my side of the NDE, the event that changed my life - entirely.

As happens with the creating of any text, the initial premise, in the case of this manuscript, is to help others understand what happens after our physical bodies cease their earthly function – die, that is.

I still cling to the established premise, the goal of this document, but realize that the overall concept that I am familiar with and have researched for years, is purely subjective. Hence, I have had no option but to use my near-death experience (NDE) as example. Where possible, I cite works of the other NDE researchers.

In this context, I had to ask, how can I help the unprepared? Answer: By drawing on my very own unpreparedness, using the secondary research of many NDE researchers, and writing in as helpful manner as possible.

While this manuscript describes concepts of the Afterlife, what others call Heaven, Nirvana, The Other Side, Realm of the Absolute, Death Consciousness, it could only have been created by those who have ‘died’, and yet have returned to ‘life’, this writer included.

The prime focus of this text is to show and hopefully, help, by example, those whose human spirit will, sooner or later, transition to The Other Side, to Death Consciousness.

The over-arching rationale for this text is to help and, as much as possible, to alleviate the fear of death. As altruistic as it may seem, especially to those of the American baby-boom generation, now starting to have end of life concerns. Quite frankly, I am not certain I succeeded. I can only base the text on my Near-Death Experience. No matter how I shuffle the cards, there is no way that I can do primary research, except by basing it on my personal experience, supported where possible by secondary research.

Further, while this subject is 100% subjective, much has been gleaned from research conducted by the founders of IANDS [International Association of Near-Death Studies.

I send each and every one of you, my heartfelt thanks. Thank You everyone in IANDS.

The first few chapters briefly deal with the description of the near-death experience (NDE) then the document details further, I believe, helpful advice on how to deal with the transmutation of the spirit to The Other Side. Highlighted is the ability to understand The Other Side (or Death Consciousness) as a quantum entangled event, as I believe, I experienced.

Why? What was the motivation? Based on my childhood, and upbringing in a Protestant Church in South Africa, there was nothing, even with two most decent pastors, nothing in Christian/Protestant religion, in South Africa, that prepared me for what I found on the Other Side. Nothing.

While, as a teenager, when I started asking questions, within the constraints of apartheid’s rife and rigid censorship, with the Internet still a totally unknown factor, I had to take the church’s word for what happened with spirit transmutation. To say that I was confused when, in spirit, in May 1972, I reached the Other Side, is putting it mildly.

Therefore, this text is an attempt to help, to explain to the reader, what I experienced when my spirit transmuted into Death Consciousness.

Bear in mind, that, here on the earth-plane, in this Realm of the Relative, we  all appear to each other as individuals. Our thoughts, our words, our actions, our emotions are quite different, one from the other. Therefore, it could be, that due to these parameters, a spirit in transmuting might not find a situation exactly as this writer did. In general, however, what is described here, has, through research, been verified.

The possible confusion experienced by the spirit in transition is the major reason for writing this text. It is to help those who, in the not-too-distant future, will land up on The Other Side, as I did, more than a little confused.

It is my fervent hope that you will in some way, benefit from reading this text.

Humbly, I hope I am learning the lessons I returned to learn.

    Jack Bybee, B.A.

To many, many of my friends here in Tucson, who have patiently listened, sometimes questioned, but mostly listened with varying degrees of disbelief, and, in some cases, one or two I recall, even mildly suggesting finding a good psychiatrist (in total friendship, of course) I owe to all my heartfelt Thank You".

To a very dear friend, Rip Lowman, a supporter and one who regularly called to say: Want to talk? I’ll listen. Thank You for listening patiently, for your advice, mostly adhered to, but most valuable of all, for that beer that you insisted on pouring down my throat so regularly. Your help, encouragement and guidance are much appreciated.

To members of IANDS, especially Kenneth Ring (PhD.) who steered me along at many IANDS 'lovefests'; to Bruce Greyson (MD.) for listening, guiding and encouraging me.

While we have never met, my heartfelt thanks to Raymond Moody, (PhD.) for his medical thesis and for publishing The Light Beyond, the text that finally answered so many of my questions.

Last but not least, to Chuck Swedrock of Tucson IANDS for the trip to IANDS Scottsdale, and so much more.

    Thanking you all,

    Jack Bybee,

    Near-death Experiencer."

What Happens When Our Physical Bodies Stop?:

To introduce this rather emotional subject, for a talk I gave recently, here are two infographics I created, starting with the terminally ill patient, as illustrated below [InfoGraphic_I]:

InfoGraphic_ I: The Initiating Events of Spirit Transmutation.

InfoGraphic_II: Stage Two Transmutation via The Tunnel into Death Consciousness.

Explanation of Infographics I and II.

    Patient is terminally ill:

Of course, not all spirits pass on to the Other Side through terminal illness. A person can be in tip-top form, and drown, have sudden cardiac arrest, transition in a vehicle accident; be electrocuted, some unexpected death occurs through shooting, or other such incident. However, it is most often that the spirit transitions when terminally ill.

    Deathbed Vision:

While there are many, many instances of a premonition of forthcoming death, a deathbed vision, will probably only occur, as it did for myself, with the slow process of dying. I believe this is where the expression …being called to the Other Side… originated. In my case, as much as I struggle now, with the enormity of the thought, the Ascended Master, of Jesus, the Christ, a living image, for so it seemed, appeared on the wall of the hospital ward, beckoning, …come, answer the call. (See poem What if…? in the Appendix).

    On Giving Up:

I firmly believe that nothing can occur without spirit’s approval. In my case, I was so tired, so weak, that any attempt at rationalizing, of resisting, was, eventually, pure folly.

In the hospital bed, I now clearly remember, the Angelic Voices calling… and calling: Come Home. You are weary. Come Home.

The Other Side was calling and calling…
