Chapter 1

Where do I want to roam to and fro? And whose soul do I want to devour today?

I’m pondering the answer to those questions as I fall into the cushions of the oxblood leather nailhead sofa and turn on the big screen TV in the lounge in Lucifer’s palace. While I’m glad to finally out from under Raheema’s iron heels, I’m not too eager to get back out there and cause anybody any trouble just yet. I’ve got to find just the right person to torment in order to maintain my position as the most powerful she-demon in All Hell.

The next person I go after has to be big. Someone powerful. Someone who lets the lower level demons in the Legion know who’s still on top. And I’m not gonna be able to do that going after E’steem again. While I still have my issues with her, it’s time to move on to bigger and better foes.

And I know just who I want to go after. But I have to wonder if pursing him would be worth the risk. I’d love to delve deeper into the mystery regarding John Haynes and why he’s public enemy number one in the Legion. From what I read about him in the library, he should be one of us. But if I tried to solve that little mystery it would incur the wrath of The Lord-

My train of thought is broken when my usual partners in crime Vance and Carlotta stroll into the room. As the slender chalk colored boy and willowy blonde dressed in jeans and T-shirts fall into the sofa cushions on either side of me, they greet me with smiles. Hey D, who are we causing trouble for today? Vance asks flopping onto the sofa.

Nobody. I reply.

Nobody? Carlotta says. It’s been a month since The Lord sent Raheema to the Lake of Fire. I thought you’d be itching to get back out there and get back into it with E’steem-"

E’steem is old news. I dismiss as I change the channel.
