Hello, My Name is Bunny! - Matt Bloom

    CHAPTER 1

    LA CÉLÉBRATION DE BUNNY

Hello, my name is Bunny! If you don’t already know me, I’m the three-year-old American tuxedo girl cat with a knack for getting into wild and wacky international adventures. By international, I mean all over the world. And by wild and wacky, I mean . . . well, you’ll see. I happen to be in Paris, France now—at the moment inside a big, old building called the Louvre, which many consider the best museum on Earth!

You may be wondering why I’m whispering and why I’m even in Paris and the Louvre. I’ll explain soon. But I have to be quiet now because the president of France is about to speak.

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for coming, the French president says. "It’s difficult to express how honored I am to be in the presence of such greatness. Greatness on the walls and floors of this museum, and greatness right beside me in the flesh and . . . fur. We’re here this evening to celebrate an individual of undeniable courage, conviction, and decency. After all, how many could have done what she did on that fateful night last month? How many in this country—on the entire planet—could have acted in such a bold, decisive, and selfless manner?"

I’m surveying the huge, art-filled room as the president addresses those gathered before us, several of them holding microphones, others pointing cameras and bright lights at me. And some I know quite well.

How can we repay our friend from far away who saved the day? the president asks, emotion now misting his eyes. "I believe the best we can possibly do is simply give our heartfelt thanks to the petite cat sitting at my feet—the one who not only happens to be Bunny Simmons-Bloom, but also France’s newest hero!"

Yep, that’s me the president just called a hero.

Bunny Simmons-Bloom, the president continues, when all is said and done, this little kitty will undoubtedly be considered one of the most significant figures in French history. Now, before we get to the main event, please direct your attention to twelve-year-old Sophie Dubois, who studies at Conservatoire De Paris music school. The president gestures to a slender, dark-haired girl holding a violin. Sophie read about Bunny’s heroism and asked me if she could perform for her today. How could I refuse? So, without further delay, please welcome Sophie Dubois!

Sophie smiles and starts playing her violin, the lovely music reminding me of fluttering yellow butterflies while transporting me back to what I’m being honored for. I still can’t believe it actually happened; it seems more like a dream. So, get comfortable, Dear Reader, because I’m about to tell you the whole crazy story.

    CHAPTER 2

    OPERATION VIOLETTE

It all started in my Paris apartment, located in an elegant section of the city called the Seventh Arrondissement. That’s where I’ve lived for the past three months, with my human parents, Joan and Robert, who I absolutely adore. If you’ve read my first two books, you’ll know I travel the world more than most cats, having also
