About the Author
Introduction
Every day, we are bombarded with newscasts informing us about the crisis state we are in nationally and worldwide. Unbelievable episodes occur daily in our schools, multitudes of workers are losing their jobs, and the government seems to be wastefully spending our tax dollars with no apparent thought for the future of the planet.
One side of the issue believes that it has all the answers while the other side demands that their ideas be heard. In the end, it often sounds more like criticism than an actual desire for true resolution. Both sides resist compromise, and ultimately, objectives are rarely met. And one side or the other tips the scales dangerously to unbalanced levels. We debate among ourselves, but once again, these debates rarely result in proactive change for the better.
I ask myself, Can I really have an influence on what goes on in so-called higher places?
Is there anything I can really do to make a difference? I suppose we could all band together to revolt, picket city hall and the statehouse, and cry out for more change. I could write to my congressmen and women and demand that they do something about this! Actually, I'm sure that this is already being done. In fact, I see it being done on the news.
If you're like me, there's little time left over in your already busy life for pioneering actual change. My typical day begins with feeding my pets, cleaning up after them, mentally planning healthy meals, trying to fit a workout into my schedule, getting myself organized for the workday, running errands, paying bills, catching the news, washing my face, and then falling into bed! My weekends are spent cleaning up the house and doing laundry for the coming week just to start the process all over again! And maybe, just maybe, I'll get to read a magazine or sit around for a few hours to relax. There are those times when I really want to get out there and make a difference, but common sense kicks in and reminds me I simply don't have the time.
Maybe if I were single with absolutely no other commitments and needed something to occupy my time—maybe then I'd join in and let my voice be heard. Or if I had the justice
or activist
archetype in my makeup, maybe I'd get out there and do it anyway, adding it to my already filled-to-capacity plate, and make a difference! I'd love to, but I'm just too tired.
The point of this little book is to show and hopefully give enough food for thought that there is another way to make a difference. Actually, it's the only real way to make a difference. When you change your mind about the world rather than try to change the world, your perception changes, and surprisingly, so does the outcome. This is a world of perceptions rather than set-in-stone reality, and therefore, perception makes reality. If we only realize that our thoughts and what goes on inside our minds actually creates the way we perceive the world, amazing changes will actually begin to take place.
What is really astonishing is the idea that the billions and billions of us on planet Earth all share the same mind. Isn't that a crazy concept? How can that be? We are all inside our own heads, thinking our own private thoughts, living inside our own bodies, and interacting with one another in a myriad of ways, but we all have the same mind. Think about that for just a second. What would it be like if we actually knew what that meant? The minds of all who have been, all who are now, and all who have yet to be are just one mind that has projected itself over and over again into physical bodies. Why? Why would we do that? Why would I do that? It's crazy, right? Yes, it is. It's insane, but that's just what we're doing. And we don't know it.
Our temporal mind simply cannot fathom this insane thought. If we could fathom it, we'd surely stop doing it immediately and return to sanity. We'd surely return to the oneness of God and His incomprehensible loving arms, where we are ever safe and ever loved; it's where we have not one worry, not one injustice, and not one ounce of pain.
The only way to ease up on ourselves and quit worrying about life and what is going on out there is to recognize our connectedness, our true self, our oneness with God. Our
mind is the mind of God, and the truth about every situation in life is there in the one mind we all share. We can't hear God if we are listening to the ego, our insane partner who has it all wrong. The ego speaks loudly in our minds, telling us we must get revenge for the dastardly deed that
