The one thing that has sustained us is we agreed early in the marriage that we wouldn’t discuss our issues with family or friends, nor would we ever call the law to our home. My wife once mentioned to me that she didn’t get married to get a divorce, that stuck with me. February 18, 2023 will be 33 years married and 35 years total. Marriage is hard work loving someone more than yourself is satisfying.

The Role of I in Commitment
Our spouses see the true depths of our character. Regardless of how much we say we love God, they see our love for God in how we interact with them, speak with them, and love them. Then their behaviors become a reflection of that character. Plainly stated, we are a reflection of our spouse’s behavior and likewise they are a reflection of ours.
~ D. Harris (female)
Often reminisce on what got you all together and revisit some of the places and share the memories with kids and family. Make each other laugh. Share desired activities. (We work out every morning at 4:30am). Know that one mate can’t win all of the battles. Try to be friends first if possible. Keep others out of your business whether it’s good or bad.
~ D. Lewis (male)

About the Authors
A Prayer for your spouse,
This is one of the beautiful and encouraging prayers Wilber sent to his wife Quashaunda when he was working out of state. Take time to think of a beautiful and encouraging prayer to pray over your spouse.
Good morning, Beautiful! Watched the Lakers series last night and fell asleep watching, it was not on purpose! You know I yearn for our telephone time. I need it! Praying this morning for God to continue to use me to continue to keep me leaning on His word. I pray that no distractions steer me away from his leadership. While being led by God I’m able to lead my family in the right direction by staying consistent and disciplined. Allow me to continue leading my family by setting an example. Cover my family Lord, protect them, give them strength to go on with their day-to-day task and keep them safe from any harm. Father, I can’t thank you enough for my beautiful wife, continue to bless her. Bless her hands to be the best esthetician that she can be. Thank you, Lord, for her resilience and her drive. Give her the strength to keep her going so all of our brands and endeavors are successful in Your name. Bless and heal our grandson. Heal his body of any ailments bless Kaydence to be the star that she is. Allow her to be a sponge and learn all she can. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen!

If you are reading this book, then we know that you’re ready to have the healthy and passionate marriage that you desire. However, you can’t seem to make it happen with what you’ve already been doing. You’ve been struggling with finding the strength and confidence to put in the work needed to improve your marriage. Having a blended family can be very difficult to navigate. We’ve experienced this first hand with having two kids outside our marriage and at the time, we had two kids of our own. The scheduling of birthday parties, holiday time, and school functions can be overwhelming. Getting those phone calls in the wee hours of the morning because your sick child needs to go to the ER has happened in our marriage. We also have had to deal with the emotional and financial support the child needs. This can be downright exhausting. It’s always something!
Let’s face it. None of us is a mind reader. However, you expect your spouse to read your mind, and that’s just not fair. Therefore, learn how to communicate your needs and desires effectively to your spouse to avoid unnecessary fights when the need
you have not communicated effectively is not met.
Overwhelming financial burdens placed on one spouse can be a sure way to a divorce. Not having and sticking to a budget is a recipe for disaster. Discover which spouse is more financially responsible and let that person be in control of the finances, so you don’t end up homeless. However, both parties still must work together and contribute financially for the well-being of your household, so the financial
