About this ebook

This book seeks to explore the spirit of this feeling called peace. In the search for the spiritual underpinnings of peace, there is this understanding that the spirit of a man controls the soul and the body of the man-if the spiritual can be successfully addressed, the soul and the body will directly receive their benefits from the successful exercise.

    Introduction

At one time or the other, one might have heard someone else utter the following:

I am at peace in the matter of my girl marrying his son.

I have peace in my mind concerning that business proposal.

There is peace in my home now.

He has brokered peace with his brothers.

These expressions and many others like them indicate someone’s state of mind or state of affairs at a given point in time. Does the peace issue have a place only in the mind?

Peace is often associated with an absence of agitation, worry, or confusion at a time. Peace is sometimes seen to be evasive or temporal. Some may even see peace as a hype, one emotional fantasy that is sought by the insecure or unstable personality.

Can peace be a constant? Is it possible for someone to say simply, irrespective of circumstances, I have peace in my heart? Or can someone’s peace be furthered or improved upon? Is there a thing called greater peace? Or are there two senses of peace—one that is constant, fundamental, and foundational—and the other that varies with circumstances?

Can one capture the concept of peace, seeing that the perception of peace is as diverse as the many billions of people that are on the face of the earth? Could it be that what exactly constitutes peace to someone may not be considered peace altogether to another?

This book seeks to explore the spirit of this feeling called peace. In the search for the spiritual underpinnings of peace, there is this understanding that the spirit of a man controls the soul and the body of the man—if the spiritual can be successfully addressed, the soul and the body will directly receive their benefits from the successful exercise.

In my first book, Strengthened with All Might, there is the desire to encourage one to know that strength is available to engage in life’s battles; and this strength should be received in order to fulfill tasks, to overcome obstacles, to push on to the winning line. This new book is to guarantee a position of comfort in between the victories over life’s battles. For as one victory in a battle leads to the next battle of life, the believer should possess a state of mind that is unwearied by the battles but is rather fortified and ready for the succeeding battles. Peace makes the believer immoveable in the midst of all the battles.

As is common with my style of exposition, a lot of scriptures will be found in this book, for it is in the Word of God that the greatest strength and peace of the believer lie. As many of the scriptures you can make personal to yourself (either through memorization or, better still, constant confession), I encourage you to pursue with keen interest. Moreover, there is a section given to praying at the end of each chapter. The section is labeled Praying Points because it is an activity section. Give time to pray! The content of each chapter should encourage you to partake in that activity to complete the blessings that God wants to impart to you through the chapter.

It is my sincere belief that as you strive toward the fulfillment of your destiny, you will have and hold your peace all the way. Jesus Christ, the Prince of peace, has given you this assurance: My peace I give unto you!
