    Dear diary,

It has been weeks since the zombie virus has been released on the world, and I find myself hunting the undead. Once again, I am having zombie brains and eggs for breakfast. I know you are thinking, "How are you not infected eating zombie brains? Well, when the brains are out of the skull and put over heat, the infection dies, so therefore we can get away with eating their brains but only fresh zombie brains. Anything older than a week is no good. I really do need to find some real meat; the brains are okay as they taste like spam. Maybe when I am done, I will check on my little bro and see if he is still human. I would really hate to make him my breakfast, at least his brains. But I know he is still human; if anyone can stay human, it would be him as he has watched much zombie movies, and studied—lol. Till next time, diary.

    Dear diary,

I went over and checked on my little bro; he is still human. (I knew he would be.) When I got over there, he was making Chinese food. I was puzzled at first and then it dawned on me; there was less cats there than before. I guess he found something different. I will stick with zombie brains and eggs. I hope Becky don’t find out what they are eating; he might become the new meat himself. I say, Good morning, little bro.

He looks up and says, Hey, big sis, how are you and your family?

    I said, We are surviving.

Little bro asked if I was hungry. I said, No, thanks I just ate.

    He asked, You sure?

    I said, Yep.

Becky comes out from the back and says, Hi, Merlene, it is good to see you are still alive.

And I said, It is good to see that you guys are alive too, but I need to get back to my family but I will be back later.

Well it’s almost time for me to go hunting. I think I will go ask my little bro if he would like to come. Maybe we can find some real food. I quietly walk back over to my little bro’s, keeping my guard up for zombies. There has not been too many in the neighborhood and what there is of them you can easily get by. I get into my little bro’s house and asked him if he wanted to go hunt food for our families. He said, But of course I will, and between you and me, I don know how much longer I can hide the fact that we are eating cats from Becky.

I am excited that my little bro is going with me; he always has my back. We’re going to try to make it to Roseburg. There’s nothing left here in Myrtle Creek, but we can stop by Ray’s and check it out.

    Dear diary,

I have talked my little brother into moving our families in together into the house down the street before we go hunting. It has a rather nice shop, and they would be safer together while we hunt. With a nice shop like that, we could make better zombie slaying weapons and make strategic plans to keep our families safe. My little bro and I are now heading down to the house to clear the property of any unwanted creatures before moving our families into the house. As we go to get into my jeep, the dogs start to bark. We look around and see nothing, but now they are really going crazy. The next thing we know, the dogs break their chains and go racing under my jeep where there was a legless zombie crawling toward my little bro. They caught the zombie before it reached my little bro. Thank God my dogs are persistent and broke their chains, or I might not have a little bro. I decided to take one dog with us and the other one inside the house to protect our families. For some reason, the zombie virus does not affect all animals. We made it to the house. I put my .45 in its holster and picked up my double-headed ax as my little bro put his hunting knife in it’s sleeve and grabbed his shotgun. I asked him why he has such a big gun. He said, Because I’m not as good of a shot as you, so I need a bigger gun. That way, I know I will hit what I am aiming at.

I laughed. I am going to leave my dog in my Jeep till we check out the shop. I will go in first while my little bro has my back; he likes it that way being that I am the better shot. I open the back door, which leads into the kitchen, and right away, there is a female zombie and it looked like she was in the middle of cooking dinner when the virus took over her body. She sees me and comes running at me with a meat cleaver so I grabbed my ax and swing at her, and about that time, my little bro trips into me so I missed and hit the counter. Good thing he had his shotgun ready and pulled the trigger, or I might not be human for very much longer. I looked at him and said thanks and we continued on to the hallway. I opened the first door, and it was a bathroom as I walked in; the door across from the bathroom came flying open and a teenage zombie came out at my little bro, so I grabbed my .45 and shot just him in time as a legless zombie grabbed my legs, making me fall to the floor. I yelled at my little bro to hand me his knife. As he did, I stabbed her in the head. Then I got up and used my ax to take off her head. There were two more rooms to check down the hall. They are both bedrooms, and they are cleared time to take the dead bodies outside.

As we were dragging the bodies from the hall, we passed the living room and my little bro screamed like a little girl. So I grabbed my .45 and ran for the living room. I looked around and saw nothing at first, but then I noticed on the far wall above the boarded up fireplace was a stuffed white owl. He said, Sorry, but I am not afraid of white owls. I am afraid of the WOO.

I asked, What is the WOO?

He said, White Owl Organization. Then he said, Yes, it is about people in Alaska who got abducted by aliens but before they were abducted they saw a white owl.

I said, You’re lucky that there is not an alien invasion too.

He said, If there was, maybe they would abduct the zombies.

I said, Why, so we could have zombie alien? Come, let’s get these bodies out of here so we can finish checking out the property. We now have all the bodies in a pile out in the yard read to burn, but first we have to check out the shop.

So I get my dog out, and we head for the shop. We enter from a side door; it looks like an office. We were both amazed, and we walk over to a door off to the side. It is a bathroom. Nothing here, so we moved on to the bigger part of the shop. As we open the door, we see this military vehicle. I was like, Wow, nice. it looks like someone started to zombify it already.

My little bro was like, Yeah, but where is that someone?

Then all of a sudden, my dog goes behind the vehicle barking, and soon we hear her attacking something, so we go running to see what it was and all she had was a zombie raccoon. The next thing I know, my little bro screams, Can I get a some help here please?

As I turned around, I see a zombie in the back of this vehicle trying to bite my little bro, so I told him to duck as I swung my ax, taking off the zombie’s head. I said, I guess we found that someone.

We looked around the shop and see that it is full of tools; there are all kinds of welders and craftsmen tools. I told my little bro, Royal is going to love this shop, so let’s finish here and get our families.

    Dear diary,

We finished checking out the property and burning the bodies. Now it is time to move our families down here where it is safer. First trip is Becky and her boys. As we were going down to the new place, I asked Becky if she might like to go hunting with me one of these times. Little bro is always saying how much of a better shot she is than him. She said no, even though that is true; she needs to stay and zombify the house the best she could and that it takes more brains and thinking than Lucas can do.

I said, Okay, Royal, rather stay and fix up things and make new weapons too instead of zombie hunting.

We both laughed. We get our families moved safely to the new place. As we get ready to leave and look for food, Royal heads for the shop to check it out. I told my little bro that I would like to go to Canyonville after our hunting to check on my daughter and son-in-law. He said, That’s cool, and on our way to go hunting we should check out St. Vincent de Paul’s and pick up some things like the chemical suits and some metal, and just to check and see if there is anything we might need.

    I said, Great idea.

    Dear diary,

We are heading to St. Vincent de Paul’s to check for supplies, but first we will stop a Ray’s. The streets had some abandoned cars and some cars still had bodies in them. We had to go around a few, but we made it to Ray’s. The parking lot had a few cars in it and a few zombies. We parked as close to the doors as possible and got out slowly shutting the doors as quietly as possible. I get around to the doors for the store and pry them open, when we noticed a zombie walking toward us. My little bro slowly crept up behind it and cut its throat with his knife to the point of cutting its head off, but he did not stop there. He stomped on its head. He started to brag when he slipped in the blood and landed on the zombie and got covered in zombie guts. It was hard to control my laughter. We continued into the store. Most of the shelves were bare and the cold stuff was hot or warm. What could spoil did, and as we made our way to the meat department, we could smell the rotting fish and other meats and the look of it was even worse. The mold and the maggots. We were getting ready to head toward the bread aisle when my little bro noticed a group of five zombies in the next aisle down. He moved by them without them noticing him, but when I tried, they all came at me. Some grabbed my ax and I swung it around, taking heads off of two of them. As my little bro grabbed a leg off a nearby shelf using it as a bat taking the head off a third zombie, the other two zombies we tripped into one of the freezers and locked them in there. We did not find much at Ray’s so we went back to my Jeep when my dog started growling at my little bro and would not let him in.

He was like, What is her problem?

I said, She don’t like zombies and you smell like one.

He said, Oh, and took his shirt off and wipe the rest of his body with the wipes left out for the carts and then got in that is when my dog licked him in the face.

My little bro looked at me and said, That must have been able to get by the zombies and you were not.

I said, Yep, you figured out how to get by zombies without being detected all by accident.

He said, Yep, now let’s go to St. Vinny’s and get me some different clothes.

The roads are still littered with abandoned cars and bodies, but we made it to St. Vinny’s. We entered from the side door because the front door has a bell on it, and we did not want to let any zombies know that we were there. I slowly walk up to the door and unlock it. There are a couple of zombies in the clothes area. I look to see if there is any chemical suits hanging, but there is none. My little bro said there is a lot down in the dungeon but we need to get some other things first, like some clean pants for my little bro.

As he walks over to the men’s pants, he sees his sister-in-law on kneeling over a body with a bloody heel in her hand hitting the body over and over. He walks up to her and touches her shoulder, startling her to the point of her almost hitting him with the high heel. She looked at him and said, I had to kill him. They bit him and he came after me.

My little bro looked at the mangled body and noticed it was her boyfriend Mike. He looked at her and said it was for the best then asked her is she would like to come with us. Her sister would love to see her. She said that she would love to see her sister too, but she needed to get home and check on her kids and mom.

He told her, Okay, but you be careful going home.

She said, I will, and tell my sister that it is good to know that she is alive and that I love her, and she left.

I walked over to see who he was talking to and saw Christy leaving. I looked at him and said, I guess he don’t want to go with us.

My little bro said, No, she needs to check on her kids and mom.

I looked down and asked, Who is that?

My little bro said, It is Mike, and yes, Christy did it.

I said, You have to do what you have to do to survive. Now let’s go find more things we could use, and headed up the ramp.

My little bro was like, Yes, let’s get to the dungeon and get some chemical suits.

As we get closer to the swinging doors, we could hear zombie grunts. We look in the back and see Barb steaming clothes—well, attempting to steam clothes. The steamer was not on, and a closer look, we noticed
