This book is dedicated to the many people who have walked with me on my pathway through life over the years. This is dedicated to the people who have enabled me to be who I am by their gifts of talent and time as well as patience. It is also dedicated to my family who have given me a sense of pride and respect that enables me to understand the true meaning of life: experiencing happiness and inspiring others to Think BIG!
Preface
In today’s world, demands never seem to stabilize. Someone wants something yesterday or reports are not explicit enough. Problems and challenges occur most often at times when a positive word or a best practice would be more readily acceptable. Still, it is vital to press onward and use the stumbling blocks of life as educational stepping stones on how to respond versus react to life’s curiosity with our psyche.
Over my career and life, I have had my share of challenges and triumphs. Both have presented unique opportunities for my learning pleasure. Despite the challenges, I have found that having a guiding principle to usher in the day, the week or cascade through the month always seemed to provide that extra incentive to realize that what was happening good or bad was simply life playing its course.
The thoughts presented in this book reflect in a large part an approach to each day of each month with some room to reflect and digest your individual situation. As I discovered, reflection brings reality into action. When action is enabled and direction is sound, there is virtually no challenge that you face where a solution can not be reached.
My sincere hope is that this book will enable you to get something accomplished. You see, I feel the end of the book is really the beginning. It’s the beginning because what you do or do not do next will have great impact on your future.
There is a story told of two men on a journey who found themselves stopping at a home along the way for directions and also water. After knocking on the door, they found no one at home. Thirsty, they decided to get themselves a drink from the well. As they rounded the house, they discovered that the only water available came from an old hand pump.
One man grabbed the handle and pushed it as hard as he could. His hard work produced no water. He told his friend that the pump must be broken. His friend who was more informed regarding these types of pumps knew that it had to be primed
before it would work. He informed his disgusted friend to keep pumping and the water would come. His doubtful friend pumped and pumped but soon began to tire. He was ready to stop when his fellow traveler yelled again that he must keep pumping. As he completed his final two pumps, water came and they were able to quench their thirst. Had he stopped, all that hard work would have been wasted.
The same is true in life. Our business and personal activities can become very tiring. We strive to win at every encounter but it just does not always work out that way. Frustration can set in and cause us stress, confusion and self-doubt. In the end, we often discover that things do indeed go
