Father of Faith - Kwami Broadbelt
Chapter 1
Introduction of Ancestry
After the flood, God Blessed Noah and his three sons. He said unto them, Be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth.
Then God spoke to Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth.
God said, Behold, I will establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you.
These were the descendants of Shem. Shem was 100 years old when he became the father of Arpachshad. Arpachshad at 35 years old became the father of Shelah. Shelah at 30 years old became the father of Eber. When Eber was 34 years old, he became the father of Peley. Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and daughters. When Peley was 30 years old, he became the father of Rem. Peley lived after Rem 209 years and had other sons and daughters. When Rem was 32 years old, he became the father of Serug. Rem lived after he had Serug 207 years and had other sons and daughters. When Serug was 30 years old, he became the father of Nahor. Serug lived 200 years and had other sons and daughters. When Nahor was 29 years old, he became the father of Terah. Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters. After Terah was 70 years old, he became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Now these were the descendants of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor II, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot, Milcah, and Iscah. Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth. Abram and Nahor II both married. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor II’s wife was Milcah; she was the daughter of Haran. Now Sarai was childless; she was not able to conceive. She was what was called barren.
Chapter 2
Good Plan or God’s Plan
Many years had passed. People forgot about the God who created them. They moved down the Euphrates River and built the great trading city of Ur. Ur was a land of many, which the people served many different gods, but the one true God spoke to the one called Abram.
The Lord said, Abram! Abram! Abram!
Abram said, Is that you, God?
The Lord said, Get out of your country from your family and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those whoever curses you. All the people on earth will be blessed through you.
With a concerned, frightened tone, Sarai said, Abram! Why are you out here in the middle of the night?
With a calm, humbled tone, Abram said, Sarai, God has spoken to me. He said to leave my father’s family, my country, and the false gods of Ur behind me.
With an excited tone, he continued, He said to travel to a land that he will show me. There he will make our family a great nation and all the people on the earth will be blessed through me.
Sarai said, "Abram, it will be scary to leave everything and our family behind, but we will trust the Lord God to keep his promises. How do
