About this ebook
Retells the bible stories in an authentic and modern way, with the aim that the truth of the story is not lost.
Children love to act out these ten Bible story drama's for schools or churches.
Although the characters and conversations have been added for dramatization purposes these scripts still remain true to the original Bible stories.
Children can learn so much about life, it's ups and downs, and how these old characters responded to whatever was throw up in their lives.
A little history:
I was part of a small group of Christians who wanted to start a drama after school's club. I spent a considerable amount of time trawling through the
Internet looking for suitable drama scripts, but none of them seemed to fit what we wanted to achieve.
So, I decided to write my own Bible story drama scripts based on the stories from the Bible.
Five humorous, drama scripts covering these stories:
- 'Abraham's early life when he was called Abram!'
- 'Naomi's very troubled life turns a corner'
- Esther 'Born for Such a Time as This'
- 'Elijah's battle against The Master prophets'
- 'Belshazzar's Feast'
Bible story drama scripts written in a modern, humorous style that children will love to act and become these big characters.

I started on my Faith Journey whilst on my sandwich year from college when I was first invited to a church meeting in Diss, Norfolk by an enthusiastic fellow student, and became a Christian then in 1976. Upon returning to college and right up to the present day, I’ve not been restrained to any one denomination – believing that local Church is always important. Through career moves and life changes this has enabled me to play a part in the Assembly of God Church, Elim, various House Church Groupings, Brethren, Anglican and Baptist Churches. Having taken early retirement after getting three different cancers and two bowel perforations, I spend my time in itinerant preaching, church activities, writing and being a granddad. I am married to Jackie and we live in Cambridgeshire in the UK.

Humorous Bible Story Drama Scripts for Schools, Churches and After School Clubs - Peter Reason
DRAMA: ‘Abraham’s early life when he was called Abram!’
This story is in Genesis 12:1 to 13:18 and covers Abram living in Babylonia where God tells him to go to another country about 3900 years ago. When they get there, to the land known as Canaan, it is in a terrible state because it hasn’t rained for a long time and there is a famine! This seems like a bad place to be sent to, so that is strange that God has sent him there. They decide to move to Egypt to get some food, but unfortunately Abram isn’t truthful to Pharaoh and therefore gets chucked out and they have to go back to Canaan. The land now looks better because it has rained and Abram and his nephew Lot decide to choose where they want to live. Abram, being the eldest should choose first, but he gives the first choice to Lot who is rather selfish and chooses the best land for himself. God then promises to give Abram the whole land and not just the bit he has chosen.

SCENE 1 ‘Abram decides to move to an unknown land’
[ABRAM EMPTY HANDED ENTERS STAGE. SARAI, LOT, SERVANT & RELATIVE ENTER STAGE CARRYING BOXES]
ABRAM: Come on Sarai. Chop, chop! Put those boxes on the wagon!
SARAI: It’s alright for you to keep bossing people around, you’re not carrying anything!
ABRAM: I am 75 years old you know!
SARAI: Yes, and I am your wife! [PAUSE] And I’m not a donkey!
RELATIVE: I’ve never seen so much stuff.
SERVANT: [GRUMPY] If you lived in this household you’d know how much there is.
ABRAM: [POINT AT LOT] Come on Lot, just because you’re my nephew doesn’t mean you can skive off!
LOT: I’m not skiving! There’s too much stuff! And they’re too heavy.
ABRAM: [DESPAIR – SHAKE HEAD] I don’t know what the younger generation is coming to! They spend too much time dreaming and not enough time working.
LOT: You’re the one [POINT AT ABRAM] who has had the dream to leave our homeland and go to another country.
ABRAM: It wasn’t my [POINT] dream. God told me to leave.
SERVANT: God doesn’t speak to me.
RELATIVE: Abram, why do you have to leave?
ABRAM: [DEFENSIVE] Because God said so! [PAUSE] I like it here! Why would I want to move to a country that I know nothing about!
LOT: [JESTING] Because you are running away from something?
ABRAM: [DEFENSIVE] Don’t be silly! I’m not trying to hide anything. God said to me: Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you
SARAI: How can God make you into a great nation. We haven’t even got any children!
SERVANT: Yep, plenty of us servants. but no children!
ABRAM: I know, it all sounds rather daft. But I just believe that God can do the impossible.
RELATIVE: Well, I’m glad I’m not going with you.
SERVANT: Some of us don’t get the choice!
LOT: [PULL A FACE] I hope that I’ve made the right choice to go with you.
SARAI: You’ll be alright with your uncle Abram.
ABRAM: God also said: I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
[PAUSE, SCRATCH HEAD] I really can’t understand the next bit. God said: All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.
LOT: You can’t meet everyone in the world...
SERVANT:...let alone give some sort of blessing to everyone!
SARAI: Abram, I wish you wouldn’t tell everyone. Why can’t you keep it under your hat?
LOT: Yes, perhaps it would be best not to mention it again, it does sound very outrageous!
RELATIVE: If I wasn’t your relative, I would say you are bonkers!
ABRAM: I don’t care what it sounds like. I believe that God has said it and that he will make it happen somehow. We don’t have to understand every detail, just trust him!
SERVANT: Easier said than done!
