About this ebook

WHAT IS YOUR TRUTH?
Truth is the Word of God (the Bible), which tells us the will of God. God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth. To be saved is a requirement to get into heaven. Understanding the truth is a requirement to renew your mind, to be transformed, to receive spiritual revelation, and to activate the power of God in your life. Acquiring an understanding of the truth allows you as a Christian to build a relationship with God, his son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
What Is Your Truth? will challenge you to evaluate your mindset, your spiritual growth, your obedience to God, and your walk as a disciple.
The objectives of What Is Your Truth? are the following:

* Help Christians learn who they are in Christ.

* Encourage all Christians to discover the truth, which is the only way to obtain victory and deliverance from the flesh, the world, and the devil.

* Encourage all Christians to apply the principles from the Word of God to everyday living.

I pray that What Is Your Truth? will set you free from deception and allow the Word of God to become rooted in your heart.

Special thanks to my pastors, Phil and Barbara Privette of Victory Life Church located in Hampton, Virginia. They are preaching the uncompromised Word of God and living a godly lifestyle. I love you guys and I appreciate all that you do.

    Introduction

I attended church as a child up until around the age of twelve. My family and I attended the Church of Lord Jesus Christ located on Liberty Street in Norfolk, Virginia. This church believed that females should have their heads covered, wear cotton stockings and long dresses. Females could not wear pants. This church believed that members should not listen to worldly music or watch television. Growing up, children made fun of the way I dressed. My parents attended church often and took their children with them. There were times when church started at 7:00 p.m. and did not let out until the sun was rising.

There was a split in our church, and my mother chose to leave the church and go with an elder who started his church. Once his church dissolved, we never went to church again. Even though my family and I were exposed to church, we did not renew our minds and we were not obedient to the Word of God. We did not pray or read the Bible together as a family. We did not put our hope and expectations in God. We did not know our authority as believers. From my viewpoint, I could feel the presence of God during church services, but I could not see the power of God working in our lives. I did not see joy, peace, healing, love, deliverance, or prosperity working in our lives. My family and I continued to battle against and be overcome by the flesh, the world, the devil, and generational curses.

I walked through Victory Life Church doors at the age of thirty-five. A coworker invited me to attend an event called Family and Friends Day which consist of a cookout and games held on the grounds of Victory Life Church. This coworker did not explain to me that I had to attend church services before the festivities, or I probably would not have accepted the invitation. Nevertheless, I was moved to go back to Victory Life Church, and I have been a member for seventeen years.

When I first got saved, I had no idea what to expect. I just knew that I looked the same and I felt the same. I just made a decision that I would continue to attend church even though I had no idea what was going on around me—why everyone was so animated, what the scriptures meant that I kept hearing, and why everyone wanted to hug me. I attended every Sunday, and then I started attending on Wednesdays. I was faithful until things started to change—I was no longer a spectator. I was participating, lifting my hands, worshiping, and enjoying being in the presence of God. I then started to let go of some things in my life that I knew were wrong. I then began to recover from some disappointments in my life. I developed a desire to learn more; however, I was struggling to understand the Bible. Pastor Privette announced that he wanted the church body to read recommended books and chapters from the Bible each month. I faithfully kept up with my reading assignments for the month. Plus I prayed that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, would give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him and that the eyes of my understanding would be enlightened (Ephesians 1:17–18 KJV). Also, I started creating an atmosphere of praise, worship, and prayer in my home as well as in my car by spending time with my heavenly Father. I then began my journey by learning who I am in Christ, renewing my mind and learning my calling.

I decided to write this book to help other Christians with their journey. As a Christian, you have to make choices. You cannot
