About this ebook

All human beings feel the pull to connect with a deeper self where they feel most alive and have a sense of purpose. Angel's Whispers is an important book as it gives both tools to connect with and an intellectual understanding of the deeper self. This inward journey begins when we allow ourselves to be guided and supported by a deeper knowingness of the heart. This reveals the design that nature itself has in store for each of us. Angel's Whispers is a guide of how we can begin to open and use our gifts. Our senses become functional at the more subtle vibrational levels of life, giving us access into Nature's reserves, wherein the Angels and other members of Nature's inner hierarchy live. This book is not just about developing the ability to communicate with the angels; it is about unfolding our true human potential. Angel's Whispers is a guide to return to true seeing and how to move from mind-based seeing to heart-based realization.

The journal pages which became this book would still be collecting dust in some corner of the world where my profession takes me if Phyllis Stuart had not steadfastly supported me and gave shape to this project, and mentored it from an idea into a story to be shared.

I thank my Angel Guardian for her insights, humor, protection and support. We have so much to learn from our angel brothers and sisters. Our angels are like the best of friends who support us in times of need, and revel with us in times of celebration and successes, for ourselves, families and communities.

In loving memory of Apollo, we thank him for introducing us to Jack Frost and the ghost dog story shared in this book.

    Introduction

We all have gifts. Some are large and great, and others are less noticeable, and slip the view of the casual observer. I have one of those. I can see energy around and inside of living things such as trees, animals, and people. I can also see some of the beings who live in the more subtle dimensions.

When I was little, I called this energy around and in everything ‘the sparkles’, as it was shining and sparkling everywhere. Imagine sun shining through a clear blue sky reflecting off microscopic ice crystals revealing a vista of sparkling points of light everywhere. This is what ‘the sparkles’ look like on an average day. Words to describe it today would be prana, chi, life force, or even the Holy Spirit. These particles of energy are found everywhere and in everything in nature.

The importance of this book is not telling you about my personal subtle experiences. The main purpose for writing about them is to simply introduce you to what can take place within the elemental and angelic kingdoms. This gift is not unique to me. More importantly, the concepts and techniques discussed herein can be used by everyone to develop or reestablish ‘true vision’. True vision is my term to describe a level of consciousness where outer mind-based vision and inner heart-based realization work in an integrated way.

We are all interdimensional beings with unlimited possibilities and faculties to share with others in the world. The lack of knowledge about the subtle world and the advanced sensory abilities that develop as we open our awareness to these levels has led us to value the outer world, and all but ignore a much inner universe.

So one of the key goals of this book is to inspire everyone to recognize that they, too, innately have this skill to see and interact with subtle kingdoms of life, as well as other gifts just waiting to be developed! As you read through these pages, you will come to understand that some of these subtle beings help nourish and maintain nature, while others are aligned with human beings assist our advance on our life path. These are our angel guardians.

Angel’s Whispers is multifaceted. I would be happy that you would find it inspirational, but if it were only that, not I would have missed the purpose the book was written. The book is about angels and the subtle worlds in which they live and work, but this only serves as a backdrop to a step-by-step guide about a more full range of human self-development. The development I lay out is what is necessary if you wish to become aware and functionally capable of working on subtle levels of creation. I believe that you will be surprised when you realize how you already use these abilities; and entice you in developing them even more. I believe that you will be surprised when you realize how you already use these abilities; and entice you in developing them even more. To accomplish this, you will need to learn a few new tricks and unlearn a lot more as this seeing I am talking about is not accomplished from our outer-directed mind-based seeing alone. It demands the connection with the flow of an inner silence that can be felt throughout all of nature. Once this flow is established, we as human beings return to a heart-based realization and ‘true vision’. I provide steps and suggest practices to help awaken your attention and consciousness to these inner and outer levels.

What many people overlook is that to make any significant progress on a spiritual or developmental path, the outer life, personality, and consciousness need to be brought into an order, simplicity, and integrity. These are not just words: they are the foundation stones for levels of establishing consciousness from which we become capable of directly perceiving our place and purpose in this world. I think it would be too big of a steps, to say that I teach you how to do this. I reveal some of the steps required and give a number of tools and the underlying reasons they are integral, or critical to follow, if any permanent inner growth will be stabilized in our outer life.

I want you to be aware of the angels, but that is not all. I want all of us to embrace the living presence of life and Pure Consciousness permeating nature itself. You will learn how to tap into this inexhaustible reservoir of life and energy within each of us.

Developing the skill to work within the subtle vibrational frequencies fulfills the promise given to us by ancient masters of all the wisdom traditions. They said that for those who seek first the kingdom of heaven, all that is required to fulfill life on earth will be made available. I believe this is what is meant by the phrase, the ‘descent of heaven on earth’, for all to enjoy.

We shall find peace. We shall hear angels. We shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.

    —Anton Chekov, author

    Chapter 1

    A Gift of Seeing

As we grow up, we begin to be aware of a little voice that whispers to us from somewhere deep inside of ourselves. At first, we are quite surprised to hear this voice. Sometimes it can be so natural to our senses that we even look around to see who is talking to us, yes? Once we realize it is coming from inside of us, we go through a period of wondering if we are losing, or have already lost our minds. After we get over the initial surprise and find that our feet are still squarely planted upon the ground, we begin to relax into the experience and begin to explore the information that comes to us. We remember that these ‘new’ adult inner depths were naturally experienced and lived as a child.

For me, somewhere along the line I realized that this inner voice was the voice of my own soul and deeper self; and on a more fundamental level, I was quite sure that this was how God makes His or Her Presence known to every human being on this planet. Every culture speaks of Mother Earth, and some form of Father God, and I am sure at some point the real answer about divinity will emerge from our own awakened consciousness, or illumined inner knowingness.

My gift of inner sight is one of directed consciousness. This is always available to me, but I notice that this ability is activated by intention to ‘know or understand something’. The intention ‘turns on a light, or opens a connection’ which allows one to access more subtle fabrics of consciousness. It is not unlike a deep Google search into what Nature knows in order to discover a deeper truth about everyday situations that arise. My family called it a ‘second sight’ where things that are ordinarily invisible to the mind and senses, become visible, recognized and known somewhere quietly on the inner screen of consciousness. Some people are more naturally attuned to this experience, and often this ‘gift’ seems to run in a family.

In my family, my Father’s mother had this gift and also had the skills of being a healer. She was born in the ‘old country’, and in her case, it was Sweden. We are a family of five children. I and my four sisters all have inherited parts of this second sight gift, and we each have developed it in our own unique ways. Here is my portion of the story. I hope it inspires you to not only believe in your own gifts, but to use them and share them with others.

From the life circumstances I hear from my clients around the world, I can see that on the surface of life and its circumstances, there are obvious differences between people. Yet under a thin veneer of skin, we all pretty much share the same desires and hopes for our families and ourselves, and our world. We are unique, a little irregular and rough around the edges just like grains of sand; but seen from the perspective of a race, the human race, we blend in to form a great natural beauty like a stretch of a majestic and winding ocean-kissed beach.

We are all inspired by goodness and the overcoming of adversity. We are all shocked by the way the daily events and atrocities are reported by our local TV, newspapers, and on the Internet-based information networks. We seek freedoms and safety for our families and ourselves. We want to share and receive love and respect, and most of us dare to hope and dream about having a meaningful relationship with a partner. We all deeply hope that our life will have a meaningful impact in the world around us.

We all want and even need to feel that we are part of ‘something more’, something bigger and connected with the presence of ‘all-life’. We feel this special presence when we walk in the forests and mountain paths, or when we sit at the seashore. We reflect. We feel a pull, and are inspired to throw off the weights and burdens of the day and reach out and embrace the feeling of being alive again, but in a more profound and simple way. We feel that Nature herself is calling to us and inviting us into an embrace we somehow put aside as we began to grow up and assume mature responsibilities as an adult. We ache to return to a simpler state where we feel most at home.

The world we see around us is huge! The horizons are so far away, the Montana sky is really ‘big sky country’, and the blue Pacific Ocean off the shores of Maui seems to go on past forever. This kind of forever calls to us. It whispers to us. It reminds us of something: something important and somewhat missing in our modern lives nudging us forward into the unknown. We all hear and feel this call and it is our job to respond to it. For some, this call comes in an instant of being touched by love, something divine, or perhaps by an angel, or for those fortunate few, a Master. For others it seems to take an entire lifetime to even begin to make sense of these inward feelings.

There are special places inside our mind, heart, and soul where this call from Nature resonates and is waiting to be explored. This inner adventure is available to everyone and not only reserved for mystics or visionaries. We are all looking for an inner peace, and this journey we are inspired to take is the only one that can bring us the real goods! One just has to initiate the first steps of discovery by turning inward and experience life expand as we move towards the seat of our soul. For 2000 years, Christianity has been inspired by Jesus’s wisdom words that hint at the greatest discovery in any generation that anyone can make:

Neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:21)

So let’s accept the possibility that this is true, and explore what the value and benefit of this would add to our lives. To guide us yet another step, Christ continues by saying

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Mathew 6:33)

What is meant about ‘all these things’ in our human life? I believe he meant everything: from the physical needs to sustain life, to the creative outlets that allow heaven to shine through us, to the service we give to our family and neighbors and even to the supreme realization of God within. The Bible also shares that ‘God helps those who help themselves’, and so our responsibility here on earth is to initiate the contact with the divine:

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Luke 11:9)

We all want and need guidance. We are given a promise here that if we need help in making a decision, or to know what the right thing to do is, all we need to do is ‘ask for the assistance’. We can help the process by not expecting a particular result, but to be open and anticipate everything that heaven alone knows we need to gain mastery over, and insight into any given life situation. Don’t mistake this as a passive or helpless asking. This ‘plea to know’ comes from a heartfelt willingness to also be open and willing to do what is necessary to assist in overcoming the difficulty! The resolve that is made is one of taking full responsibility for our choices and standing up for what is right, no matter what the opposition, or, consequences may bring. Like a child we so naturally want to belong to a family and grow up and in this newly found maturity, and create a life and home on the growing basis of insight, right action, happiness and fulfillment.

Okay! Sounds great! Yet if it was this easy, wouldn’t more people be living, or at least doing this to fulfill their lives and showing by example a quality of life somewhat above the mundane? So, what is going on here? If this is all that I have to do, then in a few weekend seminars or retreats I should be on a first name basis with my soul, and God, right? Well, maybe, but probably not. Great things take great work, development, training, sacrifices, patience and a good sense of humor supported by a clear faith as we enter into the sacred spaces just under the surface of our mind and senses. The Chinese philosopher Confucius captured this wisdom in a short proverb suggesting that

The longest journey begins with the smallest step.

This journey to the kingdom of heaven has its entrance door in the depths, or seat of our soul. It is essential to open this connection in order to give stability to the ever-changing outer world we live in. If we open this door, then each day we wake up and take another small step on our life journey, we feel more purposeful and confident. To reach the depths of the soul, we will need to first pass through the borders of the active and then the silent mind. So when should we start? Kabir, the great thirteenth century mystical poet wrote, and through a Robert Bly translation said,

You have slept for millions and millions of years. Why not wake up this morning?

We need to learn so much in such a short time. Even if we live to be a 100 years old, life passes all too quickly! If you feel this energy, this place inside calling you: do not delay; turn inward and answer the call, today! Make no excuses. If you do little or nothing, then truly nothing will happen of consequence in your life, not to mention the uniting with your inner essence! Your life will be at risk of missing the greatest spiritual advancement of all times, and if you do nothing to initiate this inward experience you may end up watching your life pass you by as you are engulfed by age.

So, what or where is this door that leads to the ‘Kingdom of God within’ experience? It Fortunately, it is already built in deep inside of us. Our life highs, or peak experiences, have all been connected in some way with this inner doorway to spirit. Once you become familiar with the connection process, it is as anticipated and easy as the first dive into the water on summer vacation. Entering through this door brings bliss and a sense of great freedom as our outer mind and senses become infused with an ever-expanding inner consciousness. What is our first step to accomplish this? We start this journey by turning the attention of the mind inwards. This inward journey is something we have done many times, for example: when we are touched by a great natural beauty, something in us just lets go of all other things and comes to a still point, in awe of the experience.

We need a new way of describing the inner journey. Our standard vocabulary tends to keep us on the level of analytical logic about the world, and ignores the inner journey. We do not commonly use many words actively describing the ‘inner experience’. We have phrases like thoughts, or inner thoughts; feelings and inner feelings; and even with the English language having over one million words to express life in full living color, we end up speaking in black and white where we ignore, or simply do not have the words which hint at ‘being or inner being’. Maybe it is because we are a young country, and are eager and successful in developing connections with the outer world, and not the inner worlds.

For help in this area of the inner vocabulary of thought, feeling, intuition and being, we can turn for help from one of the most ancient cultures existing today—India. For over 10,000 years, the culture of India has had extended periods of outer development as a civilization where great scientific, mathematic, and engineering marvels have unfolded. Simultaneously with their outer achievements, their culture strived to develop human consciousness to its fullest values. India has a tradition of teachers who are called ‘Rishis’. The rishis were fully developed men and women who mapped out through direct cognition the most precise map of inner spiritual development. In modern times, our scientists have mapped out the human genome, a most intricate network of genes unique to our species. The Rishis mapped out the human genome of the subtle nervous system and consciousness, and taught techniques that can help every person to develop their human consciousness to its fullest potential. In this book, I will be describing principles and techniques that will help you identify and unfold your ability to begin to experience and work in the subtle dimensions of our physical world.

Everyone has heard the words yoga and meditation, and perhaps has even taken a class, or two in these subjects. There is a great reserve of knowledge contained in the library of Vedic literature in which the knowledge of yoga and meditation was chronicled, and later taught. It is from these resources that we can begin to expand our vocabulary and become aware of new ways of thinking. This is a good start to understand and begin to systematically expand our consciousness and maximize our human potential. In sequential steps, we can open and tune our human awareness to the breadth of consciousness that Nature itself uses to create and sustain the universe.

As the integration between inner and outer consciousness unfolds, we need to learn to read the road signs that show progress and allow us to relax and be confident we are on the ‘right path’. This expansion of consciousness through direct experience into the subtle worlds and the beings who live there is just one of these road signs on the journey. This is not the final goal of ‘Self Realization’, just one that shows our growing mastery on this great journey. When our children move from first to second grade, it is a really big deal, and must be acknowledged as an important step in their lives. So it is with the first steps of opening our awareness into the subtle worlds and making acquaintance with the angels, and other beings who live there. This book is giving a firsthand account of the beginning steps of how this process can confidently and competently unfold as we advance from individual to divine consciousness.

As a culture, we have been developing our outer potential and these accomplishments have certainly been great. Yet, even with many good developments, this outer focus has left the world in a precarious state of imbalance in our modern times. We could say our outer development is like living on the skin of a peach. The skin has value, but the sweetness of the fruit would be missed if we did not dive into the inner and deeper values of the peach, or in this case, the inner and more subtle layers of nature. This inward journey into consciousness, and the outer journey into creative thought and action work together like the up and down strokes of a bicycle pedal. We need both strokes if we are going to have forward progress. With the information in this book, we are preparing ourselves to become more aware of the inward stroke of the journey, and this is a great and necessary preparation for dynamic and successful outer stroke into activity.

We must ask what steps we can take to wake up and tap into our full potential, but we also must reflect on how in the world did we put ourselves to sleep in the first place? Let’s try to understand this by observation of the world around us. We see newborns and infants looking at the world and sharing their simple wisdom with their families through ‘soul-lit eyes’. We need to become aware when this same soulfulness is shining through us, and when it is not. When it is not, we have to accept that we are at that moment partially, or even completely, disconnected from our divine heritage and source. This can and probably does happen many times every day! The numbers do not matter! What matters is that we become aware when this begins to happen, and learn how to reconnect ourselves immediately. When we are driving a car in the USA and veer too far to the right edge of the highway, the tires begin to make an awful sound on the rippled grooves near the edge. This is to alert us to ‘get back on track’. During a storm, we sometimes lose electrical power in our homes. We can still live and survive this inconvenience, but our lives are sorely limited until we get reconnected to the power grid. When our individual lives become reconnected to the source, life in these moments is transformed and the mundane is suddenly infused with the divine. We are bathed in the flow of true intimacy in these moments. Why settle for less? And why not turn these moments into an everyday reality?
