Real Work From Home Jobs and Business Opportunities - Kay Doliver

    Acknowledgements

First, I would like to thank God for getting me through some very difficult times and giving me peace, strength, and joy throughout it to survive and thrive. I also want to thank my mentors, educators, former and future coworkers, former and future employers, and clients. Our career paths, not unlike video games, give us a toolbox to prepare us for obstacles and to make it to the end point, which we call retirement, in the best possible position to enjoy it.

Every experience contributes to what we are able to achieve, so find value in every experience, because even those that seem to be pitfalls are lessons in disguise. In the end, we all hope that we gather a tool chest that equips us to handle the path we choose and reach our goals. I appreciate every experience and everyone that contributed to that tool chest by giving me the opportunity to learn and grow with them. I especially want to recognize Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, where I first discovered my love of writing and whose educators inspired me to reach for my dreams. I cannot forget to acknowledge Bellevue University, where I obtained the degree that set me off on my exciting path.

I have had mentors along the way who I do not want to forget and hope they realize how much I appreciate being taken under their wings. I want to recognize former and future coworkers for shared experiences. I want to thank former and future employers and clients, who provided the valuable skills and experience that I have used to reach my goals and for the opportunities I still have to find.

I especially want to thank my readers. I have spent years compiling this information, and it was so exciting to finally type the last word and hit save. It is the culmination of a longtime dream, and I am looking forward to seeing the results of that labor. I hope it helps and that the website is able to help my readers pursue their goals and to help each other. I cannot wait to hear from you and be able to have you network with each other because we are better together.

Last but not least, I want to acknowledge my children, who are my greatest joy and my greatest motivators. I have not made it to the end goal yet. I am excited to see where my path leads me next.

    Introduction

Today’s economy and the livelihood of millions of Americans are in jeopardy. Many are still stuck at home due to a pandemic that seems to have no end in sight, and we are being told by officials that things may never go back to the way they were. Do not give up, though! This can be the year that changes your life for the better.

While many are unemployed, others who are still working are unhappy in their positions and are joining a new movement called the Great Resignation, which seems to be growing. Americans are rethinking how they pursue the American dream because of the pandemic, and they want more control over their careers. Many aspiring entrepreneurs will realize their dream of being their own boss this year, and you can too!

I do not blame anyone who feels that way because I used to feel the same way ten years ago. Now I have achieved my dream of entrepreneurship, and I want to help you do it too!

My journey was not one I headed into with confidence or a surety of success. It was fear and a lack of confidence that sent me on my path to find my way on my own. That changed to confidence as I learned an unbelievably valuable lesson, which I will give you for free now.

My success was truly dependent on me, and your success is truly dependent on you!

That shift in belief came as I acquired over fifteen job titles during the next ten years, making more money than I had ever made at a job, and I am still adding to that list of job titles and loving it. It has been a journey I would not have missed for the world! Although challenging at times, it has truly been amazing and so much fun.

This outcome is there for aspiring entrepreneurs who invest in themselves and strive for that dream. I want to convey the message that what I did does not require a special formula for success. I am not special by recognized standards (although, I believe in me and am unique, as are we all). I want to urge more aspiring entrepreneurs to realize they are unique and can do this too. I hope to make an impact so aspiring entrepreneurs can realize their dream of entrepreneurship by starting a business doing what they love and earning what they are worth.

I started ten years ago, and it was the best decision I have ever made. In the last ten years, I have performed a wide variety of services for hundreds of companies and a lot of very nice people—services that I would never had imagined myself doing. It has been so rewarding! Now I have compiled everything I have learned into one hundred-plus ways to make money from home so you can get started today.

I did not complete work for every opportunity listed in the book as I was not qualified for them all, but I wanted to include as many opportunities as I could to make sure every reader is able to find work. Readers should read the whole book as it is possible to find avenues of income they may be suited for but never knew they could do. I included some information on where to get more details on each endeavor, where to find and apply for the work, and some information on how to take advantage of each. There will be information specific to each reader that will be your responsibility to research. You will also have to consider a variety of other questions on how you will operate and/or run your business, and additional research should be done by the reader on which companies to apply to when considering any of the options listed.

Most of the opportunities will not require an investment or purchase, but you should do your research for every opportunity you pursue. There will be offers for training, memberships, supplies, or some other purchases to help in that pursuit; and readers should decide for themselves which are needed to accomplish their goals. There are no affiliate links in the book, so I earn no income from anything you click. The links are solely to help guide you in finding the resources you seek.

If you have experience or skills, you may find opportunities that will give you a chance to put them to good use to earn income. While others will require a skill set or training you do not already have, you may find some of those opportunities interesting enough to become qualified to do. However you are inspired, I wish you success.

I would have loved to find a way to share the information without a cost to my readers; however, researching, compiling, publishing, printing, and distributing this information required an investment of time, money, and other resources. I do hope, however, that the information is just as successful for you and worth the cost of the publication.

Although I hope every person who reads my book is inspired by the contents and finds work, I cannot guarantee that will be the outcome for every reader. As each person is different, each opportunity is different, and there are any number of things that can happen that I have no control over. There is no way I can predict what is going to happen. All I can do is provide the information to get you thinking and point you to the websites that will facilitate your pursuits.

In the end, it is ultimately up to you, the reader, to figure out what best works in your situation, to do the research necessary, and to put your best foot forward.

Thank you for reading my book and remember to tell all the aspiring entrepreneurs you know about the book and my business, so we can help them too. It is possible to pursue your dream with the support you need.

    Live Scan Operator

Live scan fingerprinting is the technique used by law enforcement agencies and private facilities to capture fingerprints and palm prints electronically without the usual need for ink and paper. In the United States, most law enforcement agencies use live scan as the primary tool for recognizing and identifying individuals. Live scan is used for criminal booking, sexual offender registration, civil applicant, volunteers, and other positions that require background checks. Live scan results can be verified and returned within seventy-two hours of transmission to the source or the requesting individual or agency. A live scan private service provider is someone who has received the required training and is certified to offer live scan fingerprinting services to applicants seeking fingerprint-based background checks because they are applying or already working or volunteering in positions of trust and for people who work with vulnerable populations such as the elderly, dependent adults, and children. With the exception of law enforcement personnel, state employees, and tribal gaming agencies employees, a fingerprint roller must be certified, and a certified fingerprint roller is required to enter their certification number into the live scan device whenever they roll fingerprint impressions.

Authorized private companies and designated government agencies in California may submit requests for criminal offender record information reviews directly to the Department of Justice using the statewide electronic applicant communication network. The live scan operators submit these electronic requests on behalf of applicants or agencies that are reviewing the suitability of individuals for employment, licensing, certification, foreign adoptions, or entry into the United States or another country.

To protect privacy rights of applicants, the proper handling of confidential applicant information, and the security of the electronic communication network, private service providers or live scan operators are required to pass a criminal record background check prior to training and obtain a fingerprint rolling certificate. The law also requires that any individual who rolls fingerprints manually or electronically for licensure, certification, and/or employment purposes to be certified by the appropriate state licensing department.

There are many organizations that require candidates to take live scan fingerprints as part of the hiring process because it provides a fast, reliable, and accurate criminal background check, which employers can use to verify someone’s background based on more than just a name and date of birth. This service is used by businesses, federal and state government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit organizations must use live scans to authenticate employees and volunteers and if interested in becoming a foster resource parent. In some states like California, all teachers, recreational workers, and nursing home employees will be required to get a live scan as part of the employment process. In many, if not all states, notary publics, realtors, social workers, police officers, and many other positions of trust require a live scan as part of the certification or hiring process. In the past, this service was provided at a place of business. Now it is possible to work as a live scan operator or a private service provider for live scan services without a business location. The requirements to become a live scan operator is different from state to state, so be sure to research the requirements in your state. You can search the state attorney general or secretary of state website for your state for information in your state, or you can check with your local chamber of commerce. Some of these agencies offer literature with information on the process, or you can search the appropriate agency website.

You may need to incorporate your business. You may also need to register as a private security company. You will need to search the Internet for private security company license and registration and your state name. In Arizona and Connecticut, it would be regulated by the Department of Public Safety. In California, it is the Department of Consumer Affairs. You will need to research the Internet for the appropriate agency for your state and, if required, complete the license and registration process to become a private security company.

Qualifications vary by state, but all will require passing a live scan background check and proving you have the required education and experience. You will have to also submit an application in addition to any required steps. The links below are for companies that offer training, equipment, referrals, and more information on the opportunity. Each company’s offerings are different, and there is a cost involved, which varies. In California, currently the fees include a live scan fee, which is paid where it is performed, a Department of Justice Fee of thirty-two dollars, a Federal Bureau of Investigation fee of seventeen dollars, and a certification fee of twenty-five dollars, equaling seventy-four dollars at the time of completion of your live scan. These fees may be reimbursed if you are getting this done for an employer. There may be additional costs involved, so do your research.

Some of the links below offer marketing and affiliate opportunities, and in some cases, these affiliations can allow you to be able to provide the service to customers in groups and bill to a corporate office when employers are trying to simplify the process for themselves and staff. You also can research the Internet for other companies that offer this training and more information on how to become a live scan private service provider. As with any other business, you will need to have the equipment, software, and business acumen to run a business. You will need to review and meet local, state, and federal requirements for running a business and be able to handle the responsibilities of running such a business. You can also read the section on free internet advertising for additional ways to market your services when you are ready to start finding customers. I work with unconventional entrepreneurs to facilitate and expedite the process, so if you need help with finding your unconventional path, ands starting your business, schedule a Breakout Strategy Call with me.

    Auctioneer

An auctioneer is the person who conducts an auction, announcing the lots, controlling the bidding by recognizing bidders, accepting bids, acknowledging the highest bidder, and declaring goods sold.

In the United States, auctioneer license requirements vary from state to state and are regulated by the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), which serves as a basis for auction law. Auctioneers who operate in states that do not have a license law are required to follow UCC guidelines.

Whether an auctioneer or auction company, you are legally required to obtain all necessary licensing required by state, city, or local laws. In some states, you may require additional licenses not required by others. For instance, in some states, requirements include a car auction license. This means you will need a car dealers’ license, which allows you to sell cars commercially, in addition to a separate auction license. Both the auction license and car dealers’ license are state-issued. The license will specify the maximum number of cars per year that you can sell. If you want to sell more than the specified maximum number of cars sold per year specified by your license, you will need a car dealer license. In addition to the abovementioned licenses, there is a possibility there may be other jurisdictions or municipalities that require additional licenses.

For instance, currently in the state of California, the state contact is the California Secretary of State Office in Sacramento, and they require the following, which is subject to change, so please do your due diligence:

Completion of the course requirements from a state-approved auction school.

There is no state-required license in California, but you may be required to acquire a license or permit from a county or municipality, but you must be registered and meet all other requirements.

    A twenty-thousand-dollar bond and a thirty-dollar bond filing fee.

Attending auction school is critical to success in this occupation, so if you do not have the required skills and/or training, that is where you should start. The required training should equip you with knowledge in industry best practices and skills that ensure success. Find a school with qualified instructors that limits class size so you get individualized attention. Try to find a school that is willing to invest in the student after graduation. This shows you they are committed to your success. On average, full-time auctioneers in the US earn between forty-seven thousand and fifty-seven thousand dollars annually according to current job statistics. You can search online for an approved auction school. However, make sure they are an approved school. As the schools must be approved for your state, this is research that you must do on your own because it varies by state. You can start with the following links, which lead to organizations that offer the training:

    www.auctionschools.com

    www.auctionacademy.net

You should research online for more information on what is required in your local jurisdiction and to verify what is required where you will be operating and ensure you are compliant. Some of the links below may be able to provide some of that information.
