Introduction
The Wantrepreneur is a tool and a guide to help you put your thoughts and project(s) into reality.
I want people to believe that they can achieve their dreams. You will have many successes along the way - big and small. How you define success may change along the way, and that will be part of your journey.
The concepts that I will share with you here are what I have found to be essential when starting my own business. I struggled for many years, wondering how what I once thought was my dream job had become a trap. I was working for someone else’s dream, and my reality opposed my dreams. I fell into the trap of following the status quo and working for someone else’s dream, but my own had faded away. I had always prided myself on being independent and successful, but the opposite was true. I struggled to realize that the identity I had built for myself was wrong. My reality didn’t match my identity and was far from where I wanted to be. Once I became aware of this and put myself back on track, there was no turning back.
I have divided this book into ten chapters representing different areas - some background basics, education, concepts and ideas on how I shifted my mindset to bring my dreams into reality and understand the system I was participating in. I broke down everything foundational to becoming independent into ten simple concepts entrepreneurs need to know or remember and decide if this is for you. The basic concepts people will tell you that you need to do for a successful business are:
Entrepreneurship is not a one-size-fits-all journey. What works for one person may not work for another, and that’s okay.
Be prepared to take risks and step out of your comfort zone. Success often requires taking a chance on something new and untested.
Develop a clear business plan and set achievable goals that help you stay focused and motivated as you work towards your vision.
Surround yourself with a mentor(s), professional and interest network groups, advisors, consultants, and peers who can provide guidance, direction, and recommendations and encourage you along the way.
Embrace failure as a learning opportunity, and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Every successful entrepreneur has faced obstacles and challenges along the way.
Stay up to date on your industry trends and emerging technologies that will keep you ahead of the curve and remain competitive.
Build a strong brand and reputation by delivering high-quality products or services and treating customers with respect and integrity.
Be willing to adapt and pivot as needed. The business landscape is constantly evolving and expanding, and successful entrepreneurs must be able to change course when necessary and mandated.
Understand the importance of the scalability for work-life balance and prioritize self-care to avoid burnout and maintain a healthy perspective.
Remember that entrepreneurship is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the process and celebrate your successes along the way.
But! The big question has always been, how do we get to this decision-making point when, statistically, the majority of people have never been exposed or educated to these environments? That’s when I realized I needed to understand how the system I participate in works, whether it works for me or against me. This book intends to inspire you to find your mental shift and provide you with enough guidance so that you don’t make all the mistakes I did for all those years. I learned that it was up to me to get that dream back, and now part of that dream has become sharing that with you and explaining concepts in depth so that your dreams can be achievable. Writing this book reminded me of who I wanted to be and what I wanted to become; I hope it serves to remind you of the same.
You will read in this book that success is not an end destination – our dreams can grow and change continuously and even become a legacy after we leave. I am still on that journey, as I never stop learning and evolving and love for you to come with me. So, let’s get started!
I would love to hear about your journey and successes in the coming months or years. I believe in you! It’s time to believe in yourself.

Remember Your Roots
Chapter 1
I had to reset everything and go back to basics; You have to crawl before you walk, walk before you run, and (the knee) was all new to me.
Darrell Campbell. –
American Football Player
In this chapter, I will share with you what I needed to learn before I could really understand what I wanted. What I learned changed my perspective on where I was. I saw how far I was from where I wanted to be. I had to learn what I needed from my education, and what I still needed to learn. Once I understood this, the path to achieving my dreams became clearer. I didn’t have all the answers, but I had a place to start.
I was living very much in the I want it now world. And if I wanted it now, I got it now. I’ve worked hard my whole life, so I deserved it, right? I have had many blessings along the way, but I worked hard. I worked hard in school and worked hard at my career. If I wanted it now, then I was going to get it now.
But where did this attitude of entitlement come from? I saw my parents work hard to provide me with a wonderful life of abundance. I didn’t get it from them, so where did this come from? And I noticed that it wasn’t just me. I saw it in my friends, colleagues, random strangers, and in the media (TV, radio, social media, you name it). It’s all around us. What I came to understand is that society is selling us unrealistic lifestyle expectations, and that is affecting us physically, emotionally, and financially. And it’s distracting us from the work we need to do to truly live abundantly.
More than ever, we seem to believe that we should expect quick and easy results. For anything and for everything. Everything has a shortcut. Everything has a hack. But these shortcuts don’t consider your personal situation, nor do they advise you to do so. They tell you that you want it now, and this is the easy way to get it. Couple this with the expectations of the society we live in, and you find that quick and easy results are a necessity just to be able to keep up. It’s no wonder that we find ourselves struggling to
