About this ebook
"The Ballet – With Encores," I consider to be an "Ode" to my parents' and their enduring love – a story of their beautiful romance, inspired by and composed – not too miraculously – of their own verse. These extraordinary expressions of my parents' love for one another, with myself included, date from 1944, through to 2007. Their life-long passion is compelling, and is a declaration of love in its most positive sense – it is a bond never broken between a man and a woman, a husband and wife, and their adoring daughter.

A Gift of Love
My parents, Mitzi and David Libsohn, in essence have entrusted me through their writings, with their gift of love.
It is that love about which I have always written, that is my parents’ grounding force and most precious possession, for it connects us all and when expressed, it is unconditional and everything improves because of it.
This, my latest book, represents Mitzi and David’s very special and enduring love affair, with its all-important and universal theme—love, and the message it conveys. It is MY gift of love to them!
Always having guided me on the right path, my parents continue to be my role models and beacons of light in my life. Now, I am glad for the chance once again, to continue to share their extraordinary story of love and commitment, with the hope that it will be an inspiration for one and all!

Prologue
The Contest
The morning of June 18th arrived like any other—the sun had risen while I slept, filling my room with a golden glow for which I was grateful. A feeling of expectancy was in the air, for at eleven o’clock that morning, I was scheduled to be at the PATV station in Lake Success, New York, for my interview about my latest book Messages Of Love Remembered.
I decided not to waste a single moment, and I hurried along in my preparations for the show, on this very special day!
Arriving at the studio, I was greeted by my Interviewer, and as we began to relax and speak about the topics we would be discussing, an afterthought of a play writing contest sponsored by this very station was presented to me, with the suggestion that I become an actual entrant. Stunned, I thought …a play? How could I ever create and write a literary piece such as a play?
It seemed daunting and unattainable, and more importantly, about which I knew nothing. Without giving it a second thought, I discarded the offer and walked onto the set to begin the show—Access Spotlight: Pauli Rose Libsohn.
At the conclusion of my interview, for some unexplainable reason, I started to think of the proposal that was offered me, and of the prospect of my writing a play. Suddenly, I became intrigued. I thought …why not? I too, can do this!
Boldly, I asked for the rules of submission of this formidable
contest. It was then that I decided—I would write a play in one act, and it would be a success!
Upon my return home, I began to research plays and their format, going on several Internet sites that gave detailed step by step descriptions, describing how to proceed and compose a successful play. Studying them all, I quickly realized I could do this!
Instantly, I started to write, using the step-by-step format that I had discovered moments before, as my guide. My play would be based on a chapter in my biography What Is Love,
named The Ballet.
I knew it would be perfect—a true-life story of young lovers—my parents—and their chance encounter on a subway platform after an unexplained separation. The young man David, has in his pocket, two tickets to the Ballet that he was returning due to circumstances beyond his control, which have now become the central and pivotal action of the play. David and the young woman, Mitzi, have actually been reunited by an incredible act of Divine Intervention.
Seizing the moment, David invites Mitzi to that very Ballet, which she gloriously accepts. This modern-day story of Romeo and Juliet,
however, comes with a marriage proposal at the end of the evening! And so, once I completed creating and describing the Cast of Characters, the Setting, and the description of what action was occurring at the curtain rise,
