About this ebook

What is Truth? Truth is the existence of God. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Has God revealed Himself and His truth to humanity? How do we know who He is? We find God's revelation to man through Scripture in His Word. God has revealed Himself and His truth through His distinctive forms and functions during His Creation, His Son, and His Redemption. God exist and Scriptures hold the key to Finding Truth.

    Dedication

I dedicate this book to my sons, James Allan and Everett Tyler, who were my inspiration in writing this book.

Having left home at the age of fourteen, to attend a boarding school in Switzerland for your high school years, Dad and I questioned the degree we had taught the Word of God to you.

As parents, we reflect back to our lives knowing we did our best, yet questioning how well we did our job. We struggled with this thought and when you came home during your semester breaks and holidays, time was spent in the Word catching up but never feeling we had spent enough time.

While you attended the university, though you were receptive, it became difficult continuing on the same path. Difficult for the obvious reasons, age and distance. You had become young men and we continued living countries apart, still reuniting during semester breaks and holidays, for you had repatriated to our home country, the United States, in pursuit of your higher education.

My writing within the pages of this book, I wanted to ensure easy access to questions you might later have regarding our doctrine. Also knowing to pass on our faith from generation to generation, we must be steadfast in the Word and carry it in our hearts unequivocally or we risk losing our next generation to our faith and our doctrine.

Today I also dedicate this book to my nephews and nieces. To those who know Christ and to those who know of Christ but who have not surrendered their lives to Him.

My love for James and Everett, my nephews and nieces, and our family generations to come, was my ultimate inspiration in writing Finding Truth.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6, KJV).

While breath is essential to having life, making it the means and evidence of life, the words inspiration of God, is the living Word from our living God.

The Spirit gives life…the words I have spoken to you, they are full of the Spirit and life (John 6:63).

All scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16).

    Finding Truth is written:

For people who are searching, "Seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7).

For people passing our faith from generation to generation, Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).

For people ministering the message of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and leading people to Christ, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

    Preface

While living in the State of Louisiana, a prophet of God prophesied over my husband and me, saying, One day you will see places you never dreamed. Three years later, my husband’s engineering career in the oil industry took us overseas, living in various countries such as the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Nigeria, Indonesia and Angola. We have traveled extensively, having seen many parts of the world as prophesied, Places you never dreamed. Evidently, God’s plan having us live overseas has not ceased. We continue residing in a foreign country with God’s faithfulness and His protective hand upon us.

Nearing the end of our assignment in Indonesia, my husband and I were faced with the decision whether to accept an assignment in Africa again, specifically Luanda, Angola. We once lived in Lagos, Nigeria, and we vowed never to return to Africa.

Lagos, Nigeria, had not been an easy assignment. Poverty was severe in a vastly overpopulated city. Malnutrition, starvation, homelessness, parents with children begging in the streets for food or whatever handout they could be given, people with lost hope for tomorrow, much less a future, was what we saw daily in Nigeria. Never had we seen people in such despair. Having lived in other countries such as Venezuela and Indonesia, we saw it there as well but not anywhere near the degree we saw in Nigeria. Moving from Nigeria was with mixed feelings and emotions, yet with relief, for their despair and their hopelessness weighed heavily and it was heartfelt.

Accepting the assignment for Luanda, Angola, was prayerfully considered and surprisingly without hesitation. My husband and I looked at each other as if to ask, Is there something wrong with us doing this again! We felt at peace over our decision and that in itself was perplexing!

Through it all within my spirit, I sensed being told, There is reason why you are going. I did not try to decipher it but it lingered with me 24-7, as if giving me assurance that we had made the right decision. Rightfully so, not only had we vowed never to return to Africa but we had considered retirement. Nearly twenty consecutive years working and living overseas in hardship countries, we looked forward to repatriating to our home country, the United States. Accepting this assignment was a last minute, unforeseen change in our plans. Readily accepting it had been beyond our understanding.

Upon arriving in Luanda, as our driver exited the airport, I looked out my window to view the city and the people. Instantly, I felt my heart ripped out with what I saw. I saw poverty with chaos and displacement. Not like what we had seen in Nigeria. This was from twenty-seven years of a civil war that had only ended fifteen years ago. The evidence of the war and what it had done to their lives and to their country, was disbelief beyond words. My heart felt pierced seeing this and my tears began to flow. Then in my spirit I was told, I brought you here to pray for my people.

While living in Luanda I embarked on a journey that changed me forever. I surrendered to what I had been told within my spirit, Pray for my people. I became a prayer intercessor and I was given a new heart interceding on behalf for people with lost hope. For it is through the power of prayer that lives are changed and souls are won to Christ.

Today I sit in awe knowing the moment God touched me, changed me and gave me a new heart. When God has a plan for our lives, He knows how and when to reach us. His timing is never early and His timing is never late. He then can use our lives for His glory and honor.

Writing this book comes with a profound desire to step out and teach truth to a lost world that hungers finding truth.
