His parents raised him in their small home built by his father north of the fairgrounds, where he lived until he entered high school. After graduating from Idaho State University in 1968, he worked for the National Security Agency in Maryland until 1975. From then until 1983, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad Company, including the job of writing, editing, and publishing their Programmers’ Procedure Manual. Then he moved his family to Fort Worth, Texas, where he worked as a computer systems specialist and project manager until his retirement in 2003.view less
