Dedication
This sequel is dedicated to all those readers, friends, and family who were touched by God’s powerful message concealed deep within the original book: The Story of Oscar!
Acknowledgments
To God, give all the glory! For both The Story of Oscar and its sequel are God-inspired, God-purposed, and God-designed.
Dear reader:
This is the sequel to The Story of Oscar. It is a Christian book glorifying the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Previously . . .
It all happened on Christ’s birthday, December 25, sixty days into my eagerly anticipated retirement. I woke up with the sweet afterglow of not having to set an alarm clock, not having to sprint to the shower, gulp down a cup of coffee, or ponder what to wear. And best of all, not having to fight the interstate traffic to get to the office on time. Life was good! I was free at last—accountable to and responsible for no one, except GOD, of course! Being newly retired every day, even a holiday, was a Saturday. Until . . .
While driving to my daughter’s house to see what Santa had dropped off for my grandchildren, I sent up a Thank You God prayer for blessing me with the wonderful gift of freedom.
As I rang the doorbell, I heard scurrying little footsteps and muffled giggles. My ten-year-old granddaughter, Macy, opened the door. She grabbed my hand and pulled me into the family room.
Maw-Maw,
she said, sit down and cover your eyes!
I did as I was told. When I opened them, I saw something warm and wiggly in my lap. Hidden in a clump of brown and black fur were two tiny black terrified eyes gazing up at me. I stared back at them with equally terrified eyes while my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren broke into a sing-song: Surprise, Maw-Maw, Merry Christmas!
There it sat, the cutest, little two-pound, seven-week-old Morkie puppy (a blend of Yorkie, Maltese, and Tasmanian Terror) I had ever seen. It was love at first sight (who doesn’t love puppies). After oohing and aahing over his sweetness, the next nanosecond jerked me back to reality and hit me like a Mack truck. At that moment, I felt my beautiful, sweet freedom oozing away, hijacked! My life was being turned upside
