Preface
On a cool rainy night, on the island of Corsica, France, Antoine found a beautiful six-year-old girl named Boz’ena under a holly shrub. She was hungry and sick from eating the nonedible red holly berries. Where she came from, she could not remember, except her real parents left her because they were too poor to keep her. They hoped a kind person would find her and provide for her a much better life. To help her forget her abandonment, Antoine decided to call her Holly Marie, first because he found her under a holly bush and second because it was in the city of Santa Maria Poggio. She was excited to have a new name, a new life, and in a short time, she accepted Antoine as her foster father and started calling him Papa.
Antoine worked as a balloonist for a circus. He was a professional and studied the weather and wind currents before he would take his balloon up into the atmosphere. He and Holly Marie traveled Europe as Antoine taught Holly Marie all about the skills of an aeronaut. Holly Marie was not afraid of heights, so she learned quickly how to fly a hot-air balloon. Antoine also taught Holly Marie how to act proper and be a lady. They would often take the European royalty high into the sky, and she knew how to treat them appropriately.
Now Holly Marie is at the North Pole because, while flying solo, celebrating her eighteenth birthday, her hot-air balloon was captured by some strong winds that carried her up north until she crashed onto the cold Arctic ice near the North Pole Village. She was immediately rescued by the local, friendly baby polar bear that the elves named Blue Tooth. Blue Tooth quickly decided to get her out of danger from the freezing temperatures and took her to meet Santa. Santa, being overwhelmed by her stunning beauty and poise, proclaimed her to be a princess.
Holly Marie was a lady, but newly proclaimed to be a princess. How does a princess act in a magical world of elves, fairies, and snow?
she asked herself. She soon realized that the first thing that this princess needed to do was to meet and greet everyone in this mystifying world.
