The greatest acknowledgment and credit belongs to the sustainer and ultimate Creator. About ten thousand years ago, God breathed life into man and created the universe intentionally with careful precision and design and not by chance nor by evolution nor over an inflated man-invented time line.

All things were created by him and for him. Things include all businesses, buildings, golf courses, shopping malls, sports arenas, and business books.

My wife since 1987 and three amazing children are all divine gifts given to me, greater than I deserve and exceedingly more than anticipated.

This book has been needed for many years. I would like to share many truths in this book.

Seek and you shall find. Ask and it will be given to you, knock and the door will be opened to you. No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24)

It is true: If you ask, you will receive. This is a dependency model. If you seek, you will find. This is a yearning for model. If you knock, the door will be opened for you. This is the persistence model. The same is true in business.

The truth will set you free. The truth is business miracles are many times God’s interventions. God showed up and showed out. You can’t explain everything rationally. This book has multiple examples.

The reason I wrote this book was so business men and women could read, believe, and invite the Lord into their business. Be careful though! After I did, it was never the same. The same can be true for you. Do you believe these three verses?

I am going to tell you a story about how God spoke to me. That is right. He spoke to me. Out of billions of people, one beautiful fall day, he spoke to me. I had asked God for years to talk to me in a way that I would never forget. He did. One day, he really did. And then, he did more than that. He put it in writing. Something I imagine very few people have ever experienced or have known. That is why I wrote this book. I have to tell you the story, and I want you to follow this guide: from rags to riches for an abundant life and career. It is too good to keep to myself!

Invite Jesus into your business (and your life if not already) and buckle your life seat belt. And you are about to enjoy the ride of your business life.

After all, all things were created by him and for him. How great thou art. You are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). Let your light shine. You are the salt of the earth. Seek first his kingdom, and all these things will be added unto you.

I will make you fishers of men. First, trust me, really trust me. I am the vine. No man can do anything apart from me. Let it flow. Don’t push. Rest easy. Let it flow.

Believe in me. I can do all things. All things were created by him and for him. I Am.

Everyday, I trust. I trust every day.

You will know when it is time. My divine rod will touch you, and everything you put your hand to will prosper in time. Trust me now.

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

I will follow.

I will preach.

I will teach.

I will love.

I will evangelize.

I will first trust.

Introduction

Chapter 0

First Trust: Your Guide from Rags to Riches

I want to share with you miracles that I have seen. I want to share a story to you about how God spoke to me. After you hear the story, you will know he spoke to me. I could not make this up nor did I. It is true. God’s Word is true. The title of my book is First Trust. In this Chapter 0, the true first number zero, I will tell you the story. The rest of the book will tell you about many business miracles I have witnessed over the years. They too are true.

Here is my story of First Trust.

It was a nice fall day when I decided to play a quick 9 holes of golf while my son was getting ready to pack up to go back to college. I ran over to the country club to play a quick 9 holes of golf.

As the president of the company for fourteen years now, we had three major directions the company could pursue, all having a major and very different impact on the employees and me. I was consumed with the overwhelming choices and did not really know what the best path was for all concerned parties. I didn’t know what to do.

When I got to the fifth hole, the number one handicap, I put my second shot a few inches from the hole for an easy birdie. This never happened. I rarely, if ever, par the hole. The Lord got my attention.

Now I was asking him, What do you want me to do? The business decisions were weighing too heavy on me.

On the next hole, a 550 yard par-5, I drove the ball to the top of the fairway. When I got to the top of the fairway, the GPS on the cart said 275 yards out looking down at the green. I looked up at the bright shining sun.

I was still asking him, What do you want me to do?

The Lord said, First, trust.

He did not say this audibly, but I heard what he said.

I repeated out loud, with
