    The Hall of Gratitude:

    Dedicated to

    Terrilynn

My best friend, the partner in all my dreams, a great wife, mother, and friend.

    My Parents

Whose sacrifices and support have never stopped over the fifty years of my life.

The many will follow the beaten track

    With guideposts on the way.

They live and have lived for ages back

    With a chart for everyday.

Someone has told them it is safe to go

On the road he has traveled o’er,

And all that they ever strive to know

Are the things that were known before.

A few strike out, without a map or chart,

Where never a man has been,

From the beaten paths they draw apart

To see what no man has seen.

    There are deeds they hunger alone to do;

Though battered and bruised and sore,

They blaze the path for the many, Who

    Do nothing not done before.

The things that haven’t been done before

    Are the tasks worthwhile today;

Are you one of the flock that follows, or

Are you one that shall lead the way?

Are you of the timid souls that quail

At the jeers of a doubting crew,

Or dare you, whether you win or fail,

Strike out for a goal that’s new?

    Preface

What do you really want? I don’t mean now or tomorrow. I mean that if you could have all the rewards in the world and all the time you want, what would you really want? What would your life be like? What kind of home would you live in? What type of car would you drive? How would you contribute to making this world a better place?

Would you like to triple your income in the next twelve months without working any harder? Would you like to have better relations with your spouse, children, or friends? Would like to grow and advance spiritually? Would you like to vacation more frequently to exotic destinations?

See, the reason I ask these questions is twofold really. First, I want you to pay close attention to what I am about to share with you in this book and relate this information to your purpose, relate it to the things you want. I’m about to share some very powerful information with you, not because I’m sharing it with you but because it has changed many lives, including my own, and it can change yours too. The second reason I’m asking these questions is because I want you to be thinking of how this information would apply to you personally.

Like many of you, I was raised with the paradigms and mindset of limitation. My family emphasized the need to focus only on spiritual and moral greatness and to look down upon material riches. I have my parents to thank for my strong spirituality and moral values; I love the person I am because of that. But I was mentally restless, and I spent my childhood years fantasizing about far greater things in life than what I saw in my immediate surroundings. There was a huge conflict between where I was in life and where I wanted to be. I came to the United States at age seventeen on February 10, 1977, with $48 in my pocket and spoke almost no English. What I did have though was a big dream and the hope and faith that this land of opportunity would facilitate transforming my dreams into reality.

All the way through school, I was barely a D student. Every year, the teachers would say, There is no hope for Nader, so we might as well move him along and get him out of the system. That changed when I came to the United States into twelfth grade. Imagine this, I was actually given a choice as to the classes I wanted to take. From that point on, despite the language barrier, almost overnight I turned into an A student. By the end of my twelfth grade, I had command of the English language and a strong work ethic. While taking a full-time load in college to become an engineer, I had two full-time jobs, one as an inspector at a citrus plant and the other as a waiter in a fine dining restaurant.

Fresh out of college, I could not imagine sitting in a cubicle, doing engineering stuff all day. Soon, I invested in a Golden Corral Steakhouse franchise, and I built a brand-new building for the restaurant. This was the first of my entrepreneurial ventures, and it was a huge success. By accident, I came across a cassette tape by Zig Ziglar, and that began my journey to learning the power of the mind, the power of me, my own potential. Since that day, I have invested in hundreds of books, tapes, CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, and numerous seminars, some of which cost tens of thousands of dollars. My purpose was always to find new direction, not just to hear a bunch of feel-good rhetoric.

I was motivated and resourceful, and I quickly became successful at whatever I pursued. Yet it seemed that I then lost my fortunes just as easily. In the three decades that I’ve been in the United States, I went through the cycle of immense success followed by going broke three times. I was puzzled but determined to find out exactly why. A deep meditation and countless hours of inner search gave me the answers. I realized that every time I attain great success, I begin enjoying it, and I would back off the mindset and cut back on the information that got me to success in the first place. I would put my personal development education and investments on the back burner. I would begin to unintentionally disobey the laws of the universe and would slack off on investing in my own mental development. I came to the unquestionable conclusion that I was always where I was because of the thoughts I was embracing. When I was hungry and was focused on the prize, I would leap toward it with amazing speed and precision. Then when I was comfortable, I would take my eye off the prize and lose it.

Always Rich is written with the intention of being utilized as a reference book that will help you stay focused on your prize and avoid the costly mistakes that I’ve made. I will share with you how I obeyed the laws and won as well as the laws I disobeyed and lost. Please understand that while you are reading this book, the word rich is not necessarily referring to material riches only. It refers to spiritual, health, emotional, relations, financial riches, and in all aspects of your life.

Napoleon Hill’s classic Think and Grow Rich has perhaps transformed more lives and created more riches than any other book available today. Since its introduction in 1937, millions of copies have been sold around the world. It still remains one of the top-selling books of its kind. This book, Always Rich, is founded on exactly those principles and the principles in You Were Born Rich by my business partner and mentor Bob Proctor.

Having studied the life of Napoleon Hill, I was amazed to learn how rocky and full of ups and downs his life was. Napoleon struggled against numerous obstacles in his life. He achieved tremendous wealth followed by going broke several times in his personal as well as his financial life. Learning this reminded me of my own journey in many ways. I gained incredible respect for him when I learned about the turbulence he had experienced. Many would have said, How can this man who couldn’t keep it together consistently teach me anything about success? However, I felt just the opposite. Realizing the hardships Napoleon overcame allowed me to gain tremendous respect for his unbelievable faith, spirit, and determination, regardless of the odds against him. Think and Grow Rich is a book based on twenty years of research and study of the lives of the five hundred most successful and wealthy people of the early 1900s, not a collection of speculations. It is based on the occurrences that took place with him and others who were able to attain immense wealth and success.

Always Rich was inspired by Think and Grow Rich as well as You Were Born Rich. Both books were written by people of humble beginnings who were able to achieve immense success in life, then share it with others. My hope is that you will discover the secrets in this book and build your own success on them. You were created by God to be rich in every way and in all areas of your life. You are always rich. To discover the treasures within you, never look outwardly, always look inwardly. By the time you finish studying this book, you will discover a hint of your own potential, which in itself will astonish you. With every repeat study, you will discover more and more. But merely reading this book will never get you the results you wish in your life. You must study, understand, and, most importantly, take action by applying the principles you learn.

In the words of Napoleon Hill:

I have never known anyone who was inspired to use the secret, who did not achieve noteworthy success in his chosen calling. I have never known any person to distinguish himself, or to accumulate riches of any consequence, without possession of the secret. From these two facts I draw the conclusion that the secret is more important, as a part of the knowledge essential for self-determination, than any which one receives through what is popularly known as education.

In this book, I will share with you the secret Napoleon Hill is speaking of.

Always Rich is the way we are all created. The only difference between those who currently are rich and those who aren’t is the way they are able to apply the all-encompassing laws of the universe. I will show you how. These laws can never be changed or manipulated, but they can be ignored, if one wishes to do so. Imagine being on top of a tall building and ignoring the law of gravity, you will still fall straight down should you walk off the edge of that building. Because you ignore the law, or even if you are unaware of its existence, the law will not change.

    Introduction

You and I were not only born to always be rich but were designed and created in God’s image to be always rich. Everyone seems to suffer adversity at some point in his life. When this happens, the common advice is to suck it up and try again. Early in my life, I discovered the knack of making money—and I made a lot. I became wealthy and then lost it all twice before I realized that there is more to success in life than just knowing how to make money. I’ve spent several months homeless sleeping in the backseat of an old beat-up Ford, only to be chauffeured in my own Rolls-Royce six years later. If you don’t have the full range of life skills, you will quickly lose it all or waste it all, either of which leaves you a pauper in one way or the other. This book describes my journey to true richness, the foundation of which is spiritual in nature. I’ll share with you how to easily make money, and I’ll tell you how to find your path to enjoy life no matter what your current circumstances appear to be. You will learn how to rebound and be reborn in the broadest sense of the word. You’ll even learn how to be rich and still be happy.

Throughout this book, I will counsel you in many of the techniques that are used to make large amounts of money fast. And I will illustrate these techniques with many examples from my personal experience and experiences of others. This experience ranged from owning a restaurant to starting and running corporations to buying lots of real estate. You will see how I succeeded, how I set the stage for my failures, and how I used the principles of success to rebound each time. You will also see how you can profit from my experience.

But overall, this book isn’t about money. It’s about life and its purpose. I have discovered that I am always rich regardless of my circumstances, and I will show you how to achieve this wonderful state for yourself. The bulk of this book is dedicated to the incredible journey I have had through the realm of personal development and the people who have enriched my life along this path. I was a slow learner, but once I got it, my life became irreversibly successful. So will yours.

My intention is not to reinvent the wheel with this book; the wheels were created from the beginning of time. There have been those far smarter and more successful than me who have studied the principles of success and the laws of the universe much earlier and longer than I have. I plan on building on that foundation for you. My wish is to remove some confusion from your mind on why are there so many books out there teaching the same things in so many different ways. I’m here to set your mind at ease and let you know that I simply plan on sharing specific applications with you. I intend to share experiences that you can relate to on how each time I followed the principles of success and the laws of the universe, I succeeded quickly. I will also explain how and what laws I broke to cause me to lose it all.

Having studied in detail such books as You Were Born Rich by my mentor and business partner Bob Proctor, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles, and The Go-Giver by my friend, business partner, and mentor Bob Burg, just to name a drop in the bucket of great books, I have learned that the laws are the same and so are the basic principles of success.

This book has been written with the intention of putting order in the minds of the true seeker to bridge the gap between where you are today and where you want to be by applying your true potential. Every chapter will build on the previous to give you a complete picture of how to assemble the life you desire, deserve, and are created to live—an always rich life. You will be able to build the life of prosperity in your mind as you read through, then live that dream of prosperity. I will share with you two analogies that will help you easily understand these principles; one is of the juicer and the other the gold-making machine. As you advance and grow your awareness through this book, you will realize you already knew all that I am sharing with you. You will find that you too have had similar experiences in your own life or have seen others have them. I am simply helping you organize your thoughts and share examples that are easy to relate to. Prisons are overflowing with people who wanted more but took shortcuts to get it. Lottery lines often slow you down when you are trying to grab a quick bottle of water at convenient stores. New and bigger casinos are being erected all over the world, filled with those who wish for more. If only they knew how simple prosperity is to create.

I wish I had understood the simplicity of all this at a much younger age. However, I caution you to not allow the simplicity of these principles to be mistaken for ease of application. If it was easy, 4 percent of the people would not be generating 96
