About this ebook

Paul follows his introduction with a greeting to the Roman church and expresses his desire to preach in Rome someday. Paul gives a summary of the theme of his letter: “The Gospel…is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

The Jewish Christians found they were not the minority within a Gentile church. Paul therefore wrote Romans to encourage the Gentiles to live in harmony with Jewish Christians. Unlike Galatia, it is possible that the only Gentile converts in Rome were God-fearing Gentiles and quite happy with most Jewish practices. These Gentiles we’re happy and comfortable with living under the Jewish culture and lifestyle. Converting to Christianity means that you are turning away from evil and more toward the good of this world.

“The just shall live by faith” according to Galatians 3:11 and Romans 1:17. The emphasis Martin Luther placed on the Gospel truth in the sixteenth century resulted in the Protestant Reformation. This doctrine of justification by faith brought new life into the Church and became one of the central teachings of the evangelical churches. An understanding of this concept will result in a deeper appreciation of the grace of God, as it comes to us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Added note of today: Our young people is how we will live and grow up our future generations. Preachers, let’s preach the word today. “Every life, all lives—Black, Brown, White, Yellow lives—matter. Faith is our guide.”

Paul Journeys to and from Rome

Historians say that Paul, better known as Saul, was our very first preacher. Paul must’ve been an evangelistic-type preacher and a writer for the many journeys that he traveled in his day from city to city. What type of preacher would you say Paul was? And why? Was Paul an evangelistic preacher? Was he a Baptist preacher? Was he a Methodist preacher? Or was he the very first pope? What type of terminology would you say was used for Paul’s delivery of God’s message to the people? One thing we know for sure: his audience, the people, the followers were Christians who pledged their loyalty toward Jesus. And those who were not believers yet also listened to Paul. God and the Holy Spirit were in Paul’s life. Paul was an encouraging preacher. In order to have written over half of the New Testament, you had to have the Spirit of God in you—to write any part of the Bible.

Prophets and saints are chosen by God. So then would we say to be in the Spirit and chosen by God is about as authentic as you can get? Some are called by God; some are made. But one thing for sure is you must understand how the Spirit works. To follow the Spirit and be in the Spirit, listen to the Spirit, and then act on the Spirit. Paul’s delivery and writings of God’s words was about as authentic as you can get. Churches and his followers had
