This book is dedicated first and foremost in honor and remembrance of my wonderful mother, Martha McDowell. I also dedicate this book to my family: my dad, Jesse L. McDowell Sr.; and my sisters and my brothers—Jesse Jr., Pamela, Sheila, Larry, Ronald, Wanda, Calvin, Carol, and Judy. We were so blessed to have had such a wonderful mother and role model. We are so proud knowing the kind of mother we had and how we were raised. We can all say that we learned something from her. This book will be a lasting appreciation of her spoken words to us throughout our lives. I pray that these words spoken by our mother will be a living keepsake for all of us and others to enjoy.
This book is also dedicated to those who may not have had a mother in their lives—that these words spoken by our mother will be an encouragement to all who read them.
Acknowledgments
Igive honor to God for blessing me to have such a wonderful mother. I thank God for allowing me the opportunity to put in writing the things that she spoke and taught me and my siblings, which are so dear to us. A special thanks to a former coworker who helped inspire me to write this book after hearing me quote different things my mother would say. She loved the quotes I would say, and I am sure everyone who reads this book will love them too. A special thank-you to my husband, my dad, and my son for your encouragement. God bless you all.
Introduction
My mother’s spoken words. This book is being written because I often find myself quoting things that my mother would often say. Many people will be inspired and encouraged as they read and learn more about the many words of wisdom that Martha McDowell spoke. Our family is well known by many people in various states around the country. But there are some things that many didn’t know about their friend and my mother, and that is her many spoken words. This is the reason I am so excited that they will get to know more about what she instilled in her family through what she spoke each day—and the years that she was with us. There is always more that we can learn about someone that we may not have known because we are not with them all the time. We see many different people every day—some we know and others we don’t. There is always something or someone we can learn from. I am excited to share this book with the world and share my mother’s spoken words with you.
My mother, Martha McDowell, was a beautiful woman who loved her family, her husband, and her ten children. Martha was the mother of six girls and four boys. She had such a wonderful
