About this ebook

The book you're holding in your hand will change your life forever! You have a choice to make: either continue to live the same life you're currently living, hoping for a bigger, better, and more abundant life, or begin to architect the life you desire. Hoping for better will only lead you to have what you've always had with no change. In other words, hoping will do nothing for you. However, if you're like the many people whom I've taught these principles to, you desire something different. You're like the clients I've assisted to dramatically change their life to be exactly what they've dreamed it to be. With You Are the Architect of Your Life, you have these principles clearly laid out for you, so take this book, read, study, and apply the principles to your life. After all, you are the architect of your life, and you get to decide the life you'll design, build, and live.

You are the Architect of Your Life - David Worthy

    The Beginning

We don’t see things as they are,

we see things as we are.

    —Anaïs Nin

You are the architect of your life. In sharing this idea with you, I want to make it clear that I’m not one to live in the past. Why do I state this, you might ask? Because as you read, you will discover that living in the past only creates and materializes more of past events to show up in your life. However, I do believe it is worth a short amount of time to understand how you arrived at your current place in life.

Since you have picked this book up, hopefully you’ve decided to be the architect of your life. You’ll need to recognize where you began and how the current life you live was designed. Allow me to be clear: you designed your current life, either on purpose or by default, but you designed it!

One point remains clear, to move to a new destination in life, two things are required: you must know where you are currently, and you must know where you want to go.

The truth I want to get across to you in this first chapter is that your current situation is the result of programming that you attained from birth. In all actuality, you received programming from the moment of conception, and that programming has led you to this point in your life.

Being the architect of your life means you’re taking responsibility for your life and how it goes from this point forward. From my own personal experience, this is both exciting and scary. But so what? Your goals in life should excite and scare you, or they are not worthy of you. You can no longer point the finger at anyone other than yourself.

I want you to appreciate from where you’ve traveled to where you currently are. You’ve made it this far, and with a little awareness, you’re going to make it a lot further.

Commit that you will not beat yourself up as you discover the things that have led you to this point. Deal with yourself with compassion and understanding. For you to make lasting change, you must understand yourself. Understanding yourself means that you will, with compassion and curiosity, discover why you think the way you think, and how you will adjust in order to create a better life for you and those you love.

Being the architect of your life is going to require you to make change, and change, while necessary, does not always come easy. We are without doubt creatures of habit. Those habits that we currently hold within our subconscious mind are known as paradigms. Paradigms take time to build, and they also take time to tear down and build new ones.

What is a paradigm? Great question, and while I could give you a medical or scientific definition, I will not. Simply stated, a paradigm is a multitude of beliefs that shape our lives and cause us to get certain results. They become habits from conditioning that operate like a program, just as a computer operates by programs. Results are the outcome of doing things a certain way. Most of the time in our life, it is not a matter of doing a certain thing, but rather a matter of doing things in a certain way that causes the results we receive. This is known as cause and effect. I will help you to begin to cause an effect in your life by being an architect your life.

Maybe you feel stuck, or that you cannot get any better results than what you are currently getting. At one point in my life, I felt the same way about my life. However, I discovered that all this could change when you understand how. Allow me to share with you that paradigms can be changed, and by using the principles I’ll share in this book, you can immediately begin to change.

Paradigms control what you do, just as an autopilot system controls an airplane. The key is to begin changing immediately.

Let’s talk for just a moment about your brain. When your brain is functioning, this is called the mind. The mind is the brain in action. The mind has two distinct parts: the conscious thinking mind and subconscious programmed mind. How did you get your current mind or mind-set?

When you were born, your subconscious was wide open. Information was provided to you from various sources and which you accepted as truth. Everyone does this because the information is provided by people who were here before you. You trusted the information as credible because you trusted the people providing the information as credible. Whomever you believe is credible, you accept information from them or the source. For instance, many people believe that the news is a credible source, so they accept what the news offers them.

All of us do this: we take the trusted information because it keeps coming through trusted people. Not knowing how to get our own information or truth, we’ve accepted someone else’s information. This planting of information continues for many years, or until you decide to become the architect of your own life, at which time you decide the information and truth that you’ll accept.

When this occurs, life becomes very interesting. You no longer count on others for the gathering or planting of information. You begin to gather it for yourself.

Certain information is rejected as false. While it may be truth for some people, it is not your truth, and therefore, you reject it. Isn’t it amazing how many people believe that they can do no better in life than they are currently doing? These people believe that life happens to them and they have no choice but to accept life as it comes.

These people are outward directed and focused. In other words, they accept what is said, provided, or given, not recognizing that at any moment they can choose the life they want to live.

My major reason for studying and gathering this information over many years is to assist everyone I meet with gaining the life and results they want. I was once told that results are your résumé, and I couldn’t agree more with this statement. The results you are getting right now can get even better, and if you don’t like the current results you’re getting now, I want you to do me a favor: be gullible enough to follow the plan that I’ll suggest in this book.

Why should you? Granted, you may not even personally know me, and do not have any reason to accept what I’ll share with you. However, I’ve tapped into something. Something that is far greater than I ever expected. I’ve put it to the test in my own life, with many people I’ve coached and trained, and even more than this through the people I’ve reached through various outlets, and I can share with you that their lives have been dramatically changed.

But I don’t want you to just take my word for it. I want you to put what I’ll share with you to the test. Follow and do what I’ll ask you to do, and you will experience change.

I am sharing with you what transformed my life and how I attain everything in my life. Even at the time of this writing, I am continuing to study and discovering even more revealed knowledge of how these principles work. I am learning that you can win every time in every arena, whether it is a tangible or intangible result that you desire. I want this to occur for you too.

All my life, from the time I left my parents’ home as a young seventeen-year-old going to serve my country as a United States Marine, I’ve wondered why things occur the way they do. Why do some people get phenomenal results while others cannot seem to get themselves out of the daily funk of life? I’ve served people in so many different capacities, and one thing I’ve discovered is people are pretty much all the same. Sure, we may look different or come from various backgrounds. However, when it comes to the functioning of our mind and thought life, we’re all pretty much the same.

The more I’ve studied human behavior, the more I’ve come to recognize that we all want a better life; we just need some help in attaining the results we’d love to have! From family to health to finances, we’re all desiring the very best we can acquire.

From the time as a young child in my parents’ home, I’ve witnessed people wanting better results. I grew up in church, and as far as I knew, many of these people were God-fearing people. I joined the Marine Corps, and likewise, I witnessed the exact same thing as a United States Marine. People who wanted better results but somehow just could not get the results they wanted. I’ve also served as a minister and pastor of a church. I’ve traveled to foreign countries.

Again, I witnessed people who were good people. I’m talking about people who will do anything for you. Yet these people could not get the results they desired. Now, I do not want you to think that I’ve never witnessed anything that was good, because I’ve witnessed plenty. But my challenge, and the challenge that many of you have today, is why does it work for some and not others? Why does it work sometimes but not all the time?

As a certified personal trainer, I’ve witnessed the exact same thing repeatedly with my clients. Some get results and some don’t, though they seemingly work just as hard and eat right. However, they just don’t get the results they want.

Here is the part that was really baffling to me. Some of the people who could not get better results were very bright, and some even attended some of the top universities and colleges. While at the same time, some of these people were not as bright, but they obtained super results.

Why is this? Well, I’ve got the answer! It took me some time to figure it out, but now that I’ve figured it out, I am going to spend the rest of my life studying, applying, and sharing these principles with anyone who will listen. It’s really a rather simple explanation, and when you understand and apply the principles that I’ll share with you, your life takes off with some of the very best results. Not only do you get better results but also, with what I’ll share with you in this book, you can get the very best results every time.

The only thing I’m going to do is share some ideas with you. I want to make you even more aware of just how much you can attain and the steps to do so.

As for the past, we’re going to have a very healthy attitude concerning the past. It does you no good to make your past a weapon that you use to beat yourself up. All the events of your past can be used to assist and educate you of life experiences. Gather your past experiences, and use them as lessons of life and an investment into your future. You’ve got a very bright future in front of you because you’ve decided to change.

Remember, there is nothing any of us can do about our past. In other words, it is what it is. However, allowing the past to continue to dictate what occurs in our future, and that is exactly what will happen if you continually focus on your past, and it is not where you want to be either.

If you don’t accept the past as your education for better, then you’re going to live the same regret, remorse, and bitterness of the past. Whatever you do, don’t allow yourself to do this. Your future begins now as you design and build it.
