About this ebook
I will attempt to show many young men and women of this great nation that you can be anything you dream to be. Cindy and I came from nothing and made a lasting impression on many soldiers and young men and women. I am not going to lie to you. It is not easy, but, folks, it can be done by putting in the time and the effort. Do not accept less than the best from yourself and others. Be a leader, not a follower. Set an example every day of what it means to be in the right. When you know you are right, "don't take no for an answer." There is always someone to make your appeal to. Cindy saved letters and pictures from the times we were separated--Germany and Korea. I will be sharing excerpts from both of our letters and photos along with stories and moments that I hope readers will find informative, humorous, and teachable. Names have been changed to protect the innocent or, in some cases, the guilty. Strap your boots or heels on, and let us get started.

Early Reviews
Steve, how are you?
I am excited that you are doing a book. I have read this a couple of times now.
First, it needs some work on grammar/punctuation. I figure an editor will do most of that.
Second, in my opinion, you need to expand on some of your topics. Details about your youth, about your various jobs, influences.
I really like the chronological flow of what you have done. Don’t be afraid to expand upon these things. First, meeting with Cindy is a major part of the story. Tell it.
Lastly, you need to keep the hell out of Juarez! (JN)
Read all the six chapters and look forward to the whole book. Nice pictures, although the one sitting on whatever it is with the flags probably has a story all on its own. The pictures of Cindy were clearly love-filled. (MB)
Final Draft Reviews
If you have ever been in the Military, you know your soldiers are family. Military life makes memories that never fade. To have a good storyteller put these memories to print is a true gift of God, and Steve Walker has done this. You do not need to have a military background to enjoy this wonderful story.
I give this book five stars. Cannot wait for the next book! (JN)
Hey, Steve Walker, sorry it has taken me until now to get back to you. First, I really enjoyed reading this. You have a way of writing that hooks you into the story, and I can see that in some ways, this isn’t just a story about you and your life but also a love letter to your wife. I don’t have any truly negative feedback other than sometimes the transitions can be a little abrupt, but that’s nothing that interferes with the story you’re telling. I really did want to read more. I liked hearing about these places that I’ve never been to and could in a lot of instances see them through your words. If you have any questions about specific parts that you want feedback on, I’d be happy to answer them. (ME)
Very good. When I first started reading it, I thought, This is only eighteen pages, not much here. Then I got to the end of this part and understood. You tell excellent stories, which keeps the person wanting to read on, which is great. I might expand on your unhappy childhood, which shows how you really pulled yourself up from hell. The death of your mom is a tearjerker. Cannot wait for the next part. (TM)
Yes, an interesting read that draws the reader in. Only a couple of things to offer:
End of chapter 2—You mention the new guy injured and how it changed both your lives. How? It would seem an opportunity to reveal life’s challenges and the impact of those challenges.
End of chapter 6, last 1984
—Did Larry live? It does not sound like it, but not sure.
Looking forward to more! Have a good day. (MB)
