    Gospel of Matthew

    Author: The writer of the Gospel of Matthew is Matthew himself. He was one of the twelves disciples of Jesus. Matthew was a tax collector before Jesus called him (Matthew 9:9). It is not surprised that Matthew was very meticulous in recording much detail of Jesus’s teaching, for example, the Sermon on the Mount (Chapter 5–7).

    Date of writing: AD 55–65 a time when most Jewish people were converted to Christianity.

    Reason for Writing: Matthew’s intended audience was his fellow Jews. He wanted them to know Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah and the Savior of God’s people.
