Introduction to Renewable Energy and Sustainability
Renewable energy and sustainability are two of the most important topics of our time. As the world’s population continues to grow, so does the demand for energy. At the same time, the finite nature of fossil fuels and the impact of climate change have made it clear that we need to find new, sustainable sources of energy.
Fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, are non-renewable resources that are finite in nature. They are also responsible for the majority of greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. As the world’s population continues to grow, so does the demand for energy, and with the finite nature of fossil fuels, it is clear that we need to find new, sustainable sources of energy.
Fossil fuels are non-renewable resources, meaning that once they are extracted and used, they cannot be replenished. As the world’s population continues to grow and the demand for energy increases, the finite nature of fossil fuels becomes a major concern. It is estimated that at current consumption rates, known reserves of oil will last for around 50-60 years, natural gas for 60-70 years, and coal for 150-200 years.
However, these projections do not take into account the potential for new discoveries or the development
