My life changed when I learned that the monsters were protecting me. What I wasn’t expecting was that knowledge would eventually be what got me killed.

I’ve always felt like I was being watched. All the way back when I was a kid, I felt it.

They were there, watching me. 

It scared the hell out of me when I was young. Watching the pictures move. No one else saw it. But I did. The photographs moved. Their eyes followed me, their expressions changed. They whispered. 

I hated having photographs around because I knew, even then, that's how they watch. It didn’t matter who was in the picture. It could be a photo of anyone, a family member, a stranger in a magazine. But the monsters watched through the eyes in the photograph.
