In this life, man never considers why he has been given life, universal facilities, health, wealth, family, sources, and power, with no control of death, losses, pains, mental sufferings, etc. Under the scientific and technology boom, human life pattern is changing to such an extent that social, marital and family bonds have degraded and money has become the life goal. The sensitive bonds such as purity in love, sincerity, marriage, and innocent children seem to be at the mercy of circumstances without meeting the psychosocial spiritual needs. So, insecurity, depression, anxiety, and various psycho-social ailments have become a part of this modern capitalist society. The moral-ethical discipline of pure Divinity seems to be sole solution to apply moderate life with logic, objective application of the rules of nature, and the revealed objective knowledge of the Creator (knows better than His creature's wisdom) to meet the present global issues.

Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him. PREFACE

Human beings are progressing with leaps and bounds but, unfortunately, regressing with the same speed in moral-ethical and social bonds. Human claims a lot but have limited knowledge, senses and power to change his destiny. The universal system is running in a set standard and law of causation by unique Authority; otherwise, it would have collapsed.

Adam’s creation was as rational and creative skills over other creations but lost his superiority due to temptation, power and derailed by his enemy under revenge, till his children re-organized and followed the given directions for which selected prophet guided them from the revealed knowledge to reclaim honor in paradise. Unfortunately, human being instead of setting his mind to follow given direction, gets overwhelmed by the id impulses and blind wishes (Nafs-e Amarrah), and loses insight (Nafs-e Lowammah) in the race of power. To such an extent, that he even loses mental peace by disobeying the Creator’s Will, becomes extremist (abnormal) in deeds, whereas some who obeyed and prayed to Almighty Authority, get high status (Nafs-e Mutmainnah), peace and paradise.

Since the start of human life on this Earth, he is confronting to adjust with nature and often confronting crisis and catastrophes. So, under crisis he looked for help from his Originator through various approaches to address the Creator, who is invisible to mankind. In this regard, the elder intellectuals with a hold on their tribes took the responsibility to approach the unseen Master through attaching extra power to please the angry Lord by developing idols empowered to meet the crisis. In order to please gods of various needs, they started universities, festivals after getting crops and paying attributes with gifts to their preachers, who were taken as special caste with power to help the ignorant sentimental followers. These saints, due to their great character, insight and ceremonial distinction, were taken as the associates of gods. So, the concept of personality worship was infused in the religious practice among all the races.

As such religions were the production of human imagination, God selected the prophets as models of great ethical values and revealed the knowledge for the correction of people. The already-empowered preachers were supported by the wealthy class who were wealthy, holding social control and were involved in corruption and vulgarity; they not only opposed the prophets, but killed them as a lesson to their followers. All these facts are narrated in detail and depth within the holy books (Zabur, Torah, Injil and The Qur’an) for the historical data on religion and reminded to learn the fate of great kings, nations and old civilization.

No doubt, the ultimate and final Authority and all knowledge is within the Master of this universe. He knows the Psyche (Ruh), its functioning skills, three aspects of Ruh fighting within a person, its causes, preventions, solutions, training, discipline, etc. He kept on sending human prophets from time to time with holy books under his Sole Command (MONOTHEISM) to correct self-made gods and idols of deceased prophets, which people used as personality worship instead of practicing the right direction or following their model of worshipping practices.

Although globally, three-fourth of population believe in the Abrahamic religion (Jew, Christian, Muslim), with the passage of time, the preachers in their lust for control, personality projection and hold on the ignorant sentimental followers, divided into religious rivalry due to fabrication in the concept of Divine power.

In reference to the subject of history of religion, psychology of religion, religious confrontation, sectarian rivalry, the author has presented thoughtful data in his book Psychological Foundation of the Qur’an (three volume). From the psychological point of view, intellectuals and researchers in various civilizations have been trying to present religion through deep study of human psychology, its mental functional skills, creative and social adjustment toward a progressive society. Among all such civilized society, historically established and well-known pioneers are the Greek philosophers. They set down psychology as a science of soul. Later on, it improved to be called science of mind. A remarkable point is that during the origin of psychology, it was a part of philosophy which has its four pillars of knowledge to study the comprehensive study of human beings. These four components of philosophy are psychology, logic, ethics and philosophy. With the passage of time, as psychology matured and become independent, its scope of study, research and discussions stuck to its boundaries and progressed as a unique subject about the mental functioning and behavioral study only. Since that time, the ethical, moral aspects have been ignored and it has turned alike a science, but its sophisticated part of distinction of morality, discipline, religious aspect of a rational human being as far better than animal and animal instinct has been ignored. Therefore, in this modern day civilized world with modern technology, scientific inventions and capitalist affluence, they act like barbaric mammals in killing, organized crimes, adultery, frauds, looting other sources, snubbing the poor, playing with the life, property, land and sources by dominant wealthy, super powers, so-called democratic, educated scientist preparing lethal arms to crush the opponent countries knowing that the whole universe will be at risk in this fight.

At this stage, educated people know the worth of religion, moral-ethical values, practices to get peace, prosperity for a global humanitarian loving society but the human weakness of temptation, fun and pleasures, looking for ease in life, being in control of the maximum in shortest possible time, selfishness and self-projection turn them blind to think life is short and dear ones die before them. The revealed books about human psychology, his weakness, evil spirit, impulsivity with id impulses (Nafs-e Amarrah) insight are provided but knowingly they still want to remain in fool’s paradise till death.

So, human research of psychology with all claims seems to be subjective, each researcher presents his own theory concepts, and laboratory data is gathered by human about the human beings. On the other hand, the Originator, sole unique Creator of whole universal system including living creatures and human being knows all alone better than His own created deputy on Earth as they are confronting and creating evil as immortal children of Adam.

Currently psychology has wonderfully progressed in various fields of human services and played a key role in the appearances, personality and outlook of human personality but, unfortunately, they ignored the real self and Soul/Ruh due to which man has distinction from the other creature. Even the most advanced, wealthy and affluent act like animals in lust and sexual craze, like the nation of Lute; even the APA, who once declared it abnormality during my studies, now take it normal and natural process.

With the abrupt change in science and technology, human beings get crazy in monetary gains in this capitalist race. So, all old values, moral-ethical system, child training, marital bond as a family unit are gradually vanishing. Human sentimental bonds have been commercialized to such extent that with wealth, you can play out your lust without any responsibility of wife or children in a family set-up.

Due to imbalance in psyche, the extremity is prevailing. Therefore, the bifurcation between religion and psychology has discarded human values and richness of social pure and sweet relations. So, whatever new progress may be done in psychology, the rate of abnormality will keep on increasing due to ignoring the growth of self-centered life pattern and over-emphasis on worldly gains till a natural balance between religion and worldly gains is found.

Another phenomenon worth consideration is the serious consideration to work on psyche/soul/Ruh which is ignored as it is invisible and assessed by scientific tools. In fact, it is not the fault of religion or God if they have clouded the religious system. The solution lies in implementing religion and ethical-moral values based on scientific tools of reasoning, observation, thinking with insight through applying it in life affairs. Fortunately, when a truth-seeker applies objectively with creative mind, he finds a middle practical and peaceful path is there to pass life in this world by following the revealed knowledge of the Divine sent to mankind to pass a successful balance life. I have tried to see this missing link after repeatedly objectively studying the Qur’an from the glasses of current psychological achievements, science and technology outputs and capitalist race of hoarding as life mission. You can have the same insight to find facts about this short life-span where you are sowing and will get results over your deeds as one came alone empty handed and will face his Creator with his own account book and no own will be there to support or help you. At this stage no excuse will help as the revealed direction of the Creator is available but in the luxurious life pattern, we have no time to see rather we make fun of such persons that they are outdated people beating about an old bush.

All mental functioning and behavior are controlled by the Ruh; otherwise, the body is of no use and the beauty for which we worked throughout life is buried in the grave. Fortunately, the worth of the soul’s importance has been realized through IT and artificial intellect. So, this most important aspect which has been ignored but Greek philosophers needs to be revived. This will re-establish the ignored bond of human study. Unfortunately, religious preachers who instead of creating importance of the purpose of life and revealed knowledge in its original forms, have created self-made and exaggerated stories or restricted life principle and the educated and new media-based generation has turned against religion due to their dual personality. Certain religious figures have turned religion into a business to collect alms from sentimental followers to help save them from criminal deeds and recommend them to enter door of paradise on the basis of tokens and provisions.

Keeping in view the universal truth that no one has born on his choice, having no control on future, fate, death, children, wealth, health, peace, property or life affairs as all covert, intermittent and hidden stimuli (like COVID-19) are out of human control but in custody of Allah/God/Bhagwan/Kheda. They have taken the present life while it is a short stay to invest in good deeds and stop from prevented deeds with good prescribed action through self-control and patience. He is given freedom of choice to see how much he obeys his Lord. Unfortunately, people have lost time in race of wealth, power, beautiful women, vulgarity, lands and other temptation and not concerned about death to move for the strict accountability process according to revealed books.

So, we must observe facts of the universe, apply senses and develop insight about the only one Established Authority on how to pass a meaningful and moderate life by controlling the evil temptations, perform prescribed deeds, follow the model of the Prophet (PBUH) and act over the description of holy books to develop a prosper social setup based on mutual rights and duties. So, in coming chapters, I have tried to narrate the scientific data out of the sole reference of the Qur’an, a continuation of holy books of Tora, Injil, Zabur and references of all the prophets sent by Allah for the guidance of derailed people since the origin of this universe.

In my last research publication, Glimpses of Human Nature and Islamic Guidance for Peace, I have narrated the Qur’anic clinical findings related to human mental illness, scientific research tools, personality issues, mental hygiene principles, etc., so I have added in this book the clinical weaknesses of human beings, the rich principles, and the unique discriminatory title of Divine power for the insight of truth seekers.

During the process of human self-exploration, various concepts of human nature have described the potential and basis of mankind to correct the abnormalities within him. French scholars’ concept of human being as a rational human being seems close to the Islamic psychology which empower him as a unique Divine creation with potentials of creativity, exploration and extremities to control natural resources with eternal life like his Creator of the universe. Mostly under the fast-tracking and self-centered period, even man has lost the status of unique creation in the universe. In fact, this temptation dethroned Adam and his wife from the peaceful environment of paradise. So, since derailment, his generations are fighting to quench his thirst of power and self-survival, even at times turning into a brutal civilized mankind with probabilities of evil spirit like homicidal and suicidal tendencies on this Earth. In order to remind and redirect the corrupted The Ruh, the Creator revealed the directions for correction for enabling to return to the status in paradise through noble normal deeds. However, mankind becomes extremist in the life-span without realizing the mission of the Creator, mostly involved in the temporary worldly directions, with the evil spirit prevailing.

The history of Islamic or Muslim Psychology is as old as the revealing of the Holy Book. The Prophet (PBUH) was the leader to spread the monotheist concept with human dignity, rights and duties, peace and prosperity for a balanced society. The mosque was declared a hub of training and disciplining the masses with knowledge, justice, and social activities; it was a counseling center for the community to pass meaningful life in a disciplined environment for all genders, ages, and even the non-believers in the state.

With the passage of time, scholars and leaders emerged in the mosque as a teaching, training and research center and as translation of other books started; its knowledge was spread in the world. Psychology remained an outstanding subject in the masses as it is related to the study of the relationship of the Creator and creatures, with the direction of following a balanced life pattern. The Qur’an is a continuation of the holy books sent to follow a dutiful and responsible life. A rich source of human psychology, it has been revealed for the correction of mentally-sick and derailed people who become extremist and lose the prescribed direction of the Creator. So, it has more preventive measures than curative aspects. The concept of accountability after death and demarcation between Allah (God) and mankind was made clear to bring a social bond among the people for their collective role in positive, productive and meaningful relationships.

Islamic history is full of great psychologists and scholars like Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi (865-925) Abu-Ali al-Husain ibn Abdallah ibn-Sine (980-1030). According to research, the word for Islamic psychology or film al-Nafs, the science of the Nafs (psyche), is the medical and philosophical study of the psyche from an Islamic perspective and addresses topics in psychology, neurosciences, philosophy of mind and psychiatry, as well as psychosomatic medicine.

According to Islamic psychology, the treatment of mental illness might include baths, music, and occupational therapy reflecting the great emphasis placed on the relationship between illness of the mind and problems in the body. Medicine would be prescribed in order to re-balance the four humors of the body, an imbalance of which might result in psychosis. Insomnia, for example, was thought to result from excessive amounts of the dry humors which could be remedied by the use of humectants of the body.

As stated in the writings of Muslim scholars, the term Nafs (self or soul) was used to denote individual personality and the term Fitrah for human nature. Nafs encompassed a broad range of faculties including the qalb (heart), the Ruh (spirit), the aql (intellect), and irada (will). It is believed by the Western psychologist that Muslim scholarship was strongly influenced by Greek and Indian philosophy by drawing particularly from Galen’s understanding of the four humors of the body, as well as the study of scripture.

It is recorded that in medieval Islamic medicine in particular, the study of mental illness was a specialty of its own, and was variously known as al-‘ilah al-Nafs (approximately "curing/treatment of the ideas/soul/vegetative mind), al-tibb al-the Ruhani (the healing of the spirit, or spiritual health), and tibb al-qalb (healing of the heart/self, or mental medicine).

The classical Arabic term for the mentally ill was majnoon which is derived from the term Jenna, which means covered. It was originally thought that mentally ill individuals could not differentiate between the real and the unreal. However, due to their nuanced nature treatment on the mentally ill, it could not be generalized as it was in medieval Europe This term was gradually redefined among the educated, and was defined by Avicenna as one who suffers from a condition in which reality is replaced with fantasy.

As far as ethics and theology are concerned, in the Islamic world, special legal protections were given to the mentally ill. This attitude was reinforced by scripture, as exemplified in Sura V-4:5 of the Qur’an: "Do not give your property which God assigned you to manage to the insane: but feed and clothe the insane with this property and tell splendid words to them."

This Qur’anic verse summarized Islam’s attitudes towards the mentally ill, who were considered unfit to manage property but must be treated humanely and be kept under care by either a guardian or the state. This belief was similar to that of modern psychology, specifically to Sigmund Freud’s beliefs that the mentally ill require help and treatment, as opposed to how society dealt with the mentally ill before modern psychology.

The Qur’an has repeatedly told of such mentally sick aggressors who were destroyed for such deeds. The mental state of such persons is analyzed in V-2: 6-10, "Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearings, (i.e., they are closed from accepting Allah’s Guidance), and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be a great torment. And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day while in fact they believe not. They (think to) deceive Allah and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not! In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies."

As far as Nafs-e-Lowama is concerned, The Ruh is blessed with insight, just like a sensitive censor for self-control and self-correction in life. So it is warned that one should apply senses to control Nafs-e-Amara (Evil) intensions like Mutatarif (Extremist), Kazeb (Liar), Aneed (Rebel), Zanoon (Subjective assumptions), Khaasem (Argumentative), Mujrim (Incriminating), Mufsed (Trouble-maker), Munkar (Obstinate), Maghroor (Arrogant), Mushrik (Polytheist), Yashkaroon (Ridiculing), Zaeef (Emotionally Weak), Fawish (Malicious), Zalem (Cruel), Jahl (Ignorant), Insaan (Forgetful), Muftenoon (Insane), Kaluha (Easily disheartened), Farara (Reluctant), Moleenm (Disgraced), Muntasir (Destroyed), Tatamara (Antagonistic), Muzdajir (Dishonorable), Saroora (Deranged), Aashir (Self-centered), Alaudoon (Crossing limits), Manooa (Miser), Khataea (Sinner), Maazeera (Excuser), Bidaha (Mixing facts), Sahoon (Lost in direction), Motawabaeen (Punished for Arrogancy), Muqsam (Manipulator), Zahed (Retaliator), Ghafiloon (Callous), Mutufafeen (Cheater), Ghaween (Lost), etc.

Throughout life, there is a constant fight and struggle between Nafs-e-Amara and Nafs-e-Lowama in deciding deeds. This is called life, which means restlessness, anxiety and struggle till the last moment. When the Ruh departs from the body, then bodily needs and temptation also come to an end. Those who maintain a balanced and moderate line of action based on reasoning and have self-control and patience, enjoy life with self-content; whereas those who are trapped in flow of Nafs-e-Amara and have all, still remain empty or restless in the race of temptations and extremity in life. In short, the Ruh/psyche with Nafs-e Mutmaina enjoys a meaningful, humanistic, moderate life by sharing peace and pleasure with the fellow human beings without any guilt or anxiety. Human beings are reminded that above all the Ruh is created by Allah inside one’s self as stated in V-7:205, "And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful."

The current Western theory about Freudian concept of psyche, which is mostly applied in psycho-analysis by the Western psychic process, is centralized in Id, Ego and Superego. During researching the Nafs (Psyche), I found this concept is already revealed 1,450 years ago in the Qur’an. The details are placed in my book, GLIMPSES OF HUMAN NATURE AND ISLAMIC GUIDANCE FOR PEACE.

In it, Nafs e Amara that acts like a wild horse and indeed overwhelmingly commands a person to do evil deeds, is narrated about in V-12:53, "And I free not myself (from the blame). Verily, the (human) self is inclined to evil, except when my Lord bestows His Mercy (upon whom He wills). Verily, my Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." So, in other words, this Nafs is sovereign over us, and human beings are subjugated by it to follow all of its dictates and commands. There is no compulsion in Islam as it is guided with logic, so narrated to mankind in V-2: 256, "There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, and then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower."

The second type of Nafs is known as Nafs-ul Lawwamah. This word is derived from ‘Lom’ which means to ‘reproach.’ At this stage, Nafs reaches a point that if it commits a sin, its conscience wakes up and criticizes the doer. This is the first indication that man’s Nafs is wakening up and perhaps most men in the world are at this stage. When common men commit a sin, they awaken and become sorry and sad. It is this self-critic that forces some criminals to give themselves up. Lawwamah here means to self-incriminate, to self-reproach, to have blame. So, this is that Nafs that does sometimes bring a person to sin, but then that Nafs self- incriminates, reproaches itself, and feels bad and guilty. So, the sign of this is precisely that the person has such a Nafs that when they commit a sin, they feel remorse, regret, guilt, shame, and embarrassment, and they wish they could take it back, that they never did it, and that they may even intend at that moment never to do that again. So, they are fighting a battle with their Nafs. Sometimes they sin and sometimes they are able to stay away from sin. The mosque is taken as a symbol of social support, guidance and counseling from senior seasoned scholars, center of resolving community and religious issues, center of knowledge, research, social and judicial activities to promote love, respect, belongingness and homogeneity in society.

The third way of expression of the Ruh, this word has been used in the Qur’an is Nafs-al-Mutmaina /satisfied soul. At this stage, Nafs reaches the stage of certainty; in the Holy Qur’an, V89:27-30 addresses the righteous as, "(It will be said to the pious): O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! Enter you, then, among My honored slaves, And enter you, My Paradise!""

So, Allah Almighty addresses in V75:2 which means two things. Finally, it is narrated that the Creator is aware of individual capacity of a person, but He is Gracious and Kind, so each one will be accounted accordingly, as stated in the last verse of Al-Baqra as in V-2:286, "Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

The Muslim psychologists and scholars played a key role in serving not only the Muslims’ psychological ailment but also spread their findings among the non-believers. Unfortunately, with the fall of Abbasid dynasty and attack of Hulaqu Khan, libraries and research data were destroyed, and the names and contributions of the great Muslim psychologists were after the Dark Ages renamed by the West.

While thoroughly studying the Qur’an about various nations, I found that Allah has described with analysis and details about the fundamentals of human nature. So, He sent His prophet to direct and guide the derailed people for correction in life time. Besides the positive aspects of mankind, He has pointed out these negative and dominating wild attributes of Human Nature which is addressed in the Qur’an.

I found that mostly the Muslims have stopped following the pillars of pillars of Islam in pursuit of wealth, personal gains, power and pride by suppressing the rights of their own Muslims brother. It is surprising to note that Allah sent His Prophet (PBUH) with revealing of the Qur’an for correction in faith against the polytheism and faulty practices of Bani Israel (Jews) and Nisara (Christians) for forgetting the true messages of their respective holy prophets.

The Qur’an reveals there were few of these people who practiced and followed the right direction by doing prescribed deeds in Ahele kitab who will be rewarded, where as strict punishment will be awarded who betrayed after the commitment and detracted the followers by creating human associates (Prophet Isa’s son of Maryam among Christian and Prophet Uzair as son of Allah among Jews) with the Creator for their personal gains and power in the masses. But most of their religious scholar just preached without practicing; it is described like a donkey holding pile of books on his back, knowingly detracting the innocent ignorant followers to meet their super ego.

Unfortunately, in the Muslim Ummah, certain scholars have endorsed such practicing even after the submission to Allah, "Allah is the only one almighty power and Muhammad is His obedient messenger." Such as:
