About this ebook

After escaping the final battle of a century's long cosmic war, Orin Garvik crash lands on a seemingly uninhabited planet and is presumed dead by his own people. He regains consciousness and finds himself within the walls of Temporal Security Agency with a large portion of his memory gone. He is given a different identity, a job and a small loyal team. Ten years later, everything seems to be working out fine for the newly promoted Captain, until the agency receives distress call specifically requesting Orin's assistance and asking for him by name. Going against her better judgement, the TSA director allows Orin to answer the distress call personally with a member of his team as backup. Has the TSA director made the right decision? Is Orin and his subordinate walking straight into a trap? What is the true identity of the Chosen One, and why is he wanted so badly? Has the massive reputation that Orin had gained through the agency put him in to much danger? Will Orin be able to overcome his spiritual weakness long enough to save his race from total extinction? Will Orin be able to save all of creation, or will he end up leading the universe towards it's complete destruction? Only time will tell....

    Chapter: One

    Cosmic year: 9096’46

Smoke and flames had burst forth from every window and every doorway in every building in the capital city on the planet known as Colisto Majoria. Kaila Garvik stood in front of the landing platform alongside the rest of the over two hundred thousand survivors of the last assault at the hands of the Alirian armada and looked on in pure terror as her entire home world fell apart all around her.

The attractive and very well dressed two-hundred-year-old Colistonian waist length jet black haired female with a slender and long leggy build and almond-shaped ice blue-colored eyes couldn’t believe that the way of life that her people had led all of those many millennia ago could come to such a violent end.

The young woman gazed around her environment and just found all the Chaos and destruction just far too dreamlike to be happening. Deep down inside, however, Kaila was more than aware that the era of the mighty Colistonian Empire had come to a close. At that moment, a familiar finger tapping the youthful Colistonian on her shoulder tore her from her thoughts.

The young woman turned around and became overjoyed as several massive Torvakian star-liners touched down on the landing platform that lay in front of her and the remaining survivors of a century’s long war between her home world and the planet Alira Prime.

Kaila then turned to her left and to her relief found a familiar tall and mature aristocratic looking young man with short amber colored hair and small oval shaped piercing apple green colored eyes dressed in long and flowing royal blue colored velvet robes looking back at her with a deep frown of concern on his handsome features. For a few intense moments, an awkward silence hung in the air between the two of them. Kaila took a deep breath and announced, I hope my brother made it out of the city all right.

The young man took Kaila’s left hand into his own and then replied in a voice that was full of deep regret and sadness, Come on, Kaila. You know how resourceful Orin is. I’m sure that by now, your brother has made it to one of our concealed ships and has traveled far away from all this madness and destruction. The Colistonian female wiped the tears out of her eyes and then inquired, What if he hasn’t, Avery? What if he didn’t make it out of the palace in time before it exploded?

Avery took a deep breath and replied, as he guided her towards the awaiting star liners, If that turns out to be the case, then I’m sure that Amara will take both Orin’s soul and spirit into her complete divine protection. Now come along, Kaila. If your brother is still alive, I don’t think he’d forgive either of us for dying on him. Kaila nodded and then followed Avery and the rest of their fellow Colistonians to safety.

    Ten years later...

Kaila Garvik, now dressed in a bright, green-colored tunic with matching ankle length leather boots sat on a large and lengthy rectangular tan colored living room sofa in mournful silence, as she thought about the tragic fate of both her brother and her entire home world. Not a day went by that train of thought didn’t enter her mind. Kaila missed her brother very much indeed, and she longed for the day when they would reunite. She had tried very hard to keep a positive attitude about Orin’s possible survival, but after many years of receiving no word from him, her attitude became more and more apprehensive until she had become convinced that her brother had died during the final battle of the war.

At that moment, a light knocking sound on the front door of the town-house snapped the female Colistonian out of her brooding. Kaila wiped the tears out of her eyes and then called out, You may come in. The front door of the town house opened, and a lean well dressed medium built short blond-haired young man with falcon shaped silvery purple colored eyes asked, as he walked inside and closed it behind him, Are you going to be all right, Kaila? The Colistonian female nodded and replied with a sad smile, You don’t have to worry about me, Edric. I’m sure that I’ll be fine. Edric Kovar sat down on the empty chair that was positioned right across from the sofa and inquired, What is it that’s bothering you, Kaila?

Kaila took a deep breath and replied, Well, if my brother was still alive, today would have been his three hundred and thirty-fifth birthday. I miss him. Edric shook his head and then asked, What makes you think that your brother’s dead, Kaila? I’ve heard rumors about a Colistonian survivor somewhere out there making waves throughout the entire universe. Kaila leaned back on the sofa and replied, Those are just rumors, Edric. Nobody can survive a planetary explosion. Besides, I’m sure that if Orin was still alive, he’d have contacted me by now.

There were a few moments of awkward silence.

Kaila cleared her throat and then inquired, So, what have you been able to find out? Edric stretched and replied, The violence against your people has escalated. Just this morning, the members of the secret police arrested about twenty Colistonians males and females, including children, on charges of interplanetary, high treason and religious blasphemy and taken away to a compound of theirs that seems to be located somewhere well beyond the outskirts of the city. I’m afraid that if something’s not done soon, your race will be once again be on the brink of extinction.

Kaila sighed and replied, I’m sure that if my brother was still alive, he’d know what to do about this. Orin had proven himself to be quite a warrior during the war. Edric nodded in understanding and then asked with a curious smile, If your brother was still alive, wouldn’t fact make him the only surviving off world Colistonian left in existence?

Kaila glimpsed the eager look in her friend’s eyes and declared with a lively shake of her head, No, Edric. I know where you’re going with this. And I will not allow it. Even if your theory’s right, summoning Orin to this planet would place him in more mortal danger than you could ever imagine. I think they have put my brother through enough hell. Orin would be safer staying as far away from us as possible.

Edric sighed and then explained, Kaila, just think about it for a moment. If your brother is still alive, then there could be some truth to the Alirian prophecy. This would mean that Orin has a great destiny ahead of him. With his kind of power. Our shared enemy wouldn’t stand a chance against us. Orin could help us put an end to all of this tyranny and bloodshed. Besides, I don’t think that your brother would refuse to help the remaining members of his own race. I think we should try to contact him. We might get lucky somehow.

Kaila took a deep calming breath and then replied, I’m not so sure that would workout, but you’re more than welcome to try. Edric got back to his feet and declared with an enthusiastic grin, as he made his way back to the front door, There’s some research that I need to look over back at University first. I’m very well aware that this’s a long shot, but I just might pinpoint his exact location. They’ll have the technology that I’ll need to send out the distress call in all directions, which will increase our chances of Orin receiving our message. Later on, you and I can meet up at that downtown bar that you seem to like so much. For the sake of all your people, let’s just hope that the rumors are true and that your brother is still alive and well. Kaila nodded and replied, You’re right, Edric. I couldn’t agree with you more.

Prince Gavin Tallemar strolled down the main corridor of the royal palace hoping he could make it outside, before his parents returned from the month long religious fair that was being held downtown. It had almost been impossible for him to comprehend the way circumstances had changed after his family came to power.

At first, none of his fellow Torvakians seemed to have anything against their new Colistonian friends. In fact, most even sympathized with their tragic situation. But now, it was as if half of the population of his race had turned on them. Gavin thought about all the Colistonian friends that he’d been able to make during their first few years on Torvak.

It saddened him to imagine all the suffering and hardship many of them were going through because of his own family’s racial hatred. It seemed like everywhere he looked now days; he saw nothing but cruelty and violence. He was more than well aware that it was all a direct result of the personal bigotry that his father was so fond of spreading to their fellow Torvakians.

The tall, handsome, and athletic, dressed youthful prince with silver-colored falcon shaped eyes and curly shoulder length acorn colored hair wanted nothing more than to put a stop to all of it and to avert a bloodbath before it started. Where are you off to at this hour, your highness?, a familiar voice and asked with a sinister undertone that caused the young man to stop dead in his tracks. Gavin turned and, to his astonishment, found a member of the Torvakian secret police standing there with a high-powered laser rifle trained on him.

The young prince took a deep breath and then replied with a good-humored smile, Well, to be honest, I’ve got a boiling date that I’m already running late for. I’ll see you later. The armed soldier shook his head and announced, I’m sorry, my Lord. your father gave me strict orders to keep you inside the palace tonight for your own protection. Those Colistonians have already taken to the streets.

Gavin sighed and then replied, "I don’t know what in the hell your problem is, but I have nothing at all against the Colistonians. I have no reason to fear them, and I know for a fact that
