Chapter - One
Cosmic Year : 9096'53
The complicated system of internal corridors and central control of the massive Enochian cargo ship, which lived in a cloaked geo-stationary orbit far above the stratosphere of the small and unsuspecting populated planet known as
Ouclahr overflowed with a frenzy of activity.
A uniformed and well-armed squad of Enochian soldiers herded enslaved alien beings from a myriad of different galaxies back towards the wing of the ship that housed their individual sleeping quarters. A small team of technicians sat at their individual computer terminals scanning the planet’s surface to locate and capture their most recent runaway before he could make it to the Ouclahrian and inform them of their presence in the area.
The planet below the orbiting cargo ship seemed vulnerable and easy to conquer. Most of the neighboring worlds were more than well aware of the high-tech defensive capabilities of the Ouclahrian military and the colossal ground to air photon weapon that the planet’s high council had no qualms using against all would be invaders. This, of course, wasn’t the only reason the Enochian empire had made it a point to never target Ouclahr for harvesting.
The Ouclahrians made it clear to everyone over the centuries of the aggressive intolerance to the cosmic slave trade, and the combative and very well trained members of their military enjoyed making examples of all passing slave ships that were detected by their cloaked and sensitive orbiting radio telescopes.
At that moment, the slim, attractive, blue skinned, very well dressed and well armed one hundred and twenty-seven-year-old Enochian female commander with diamond shaped orange colored eyes, waist length violet colored hair and an authoritative yet charming personality known as Balogh Harbuck sat back on a large, long and comfortable royal blue colored sofa with a relaxed smile, as she looked around the spacious and furnished environment of her private quarters.
Now and then, the young woman would glance at the slender, dressed and quiet fifty-six-year-old Autarian slave girl with shoulder length green colored hair and crescent moon shaped violet colored eyes who sat all curled up in the northwest corner of the medium-sized room for a moment and then turned away due to lack of interest.
Balogh remembered the layout of the vast and lavish estate back on her home planet of Enoch and realized with a smile that she couldn’t wait until their current mission was over. She was more than ready to return to the comforting reassurance of sleeping in her own canopy bed. She became the commander of the Enochian military’s third division. It had become the job of both her subordinates and herself to track down and recapture all runaway slaves.
It was a job that Balogh hated with a passion. If the Enochian female had her way, she would’ve been more than happy to let this slave go. The planetary law of her home world prevented her from doing so. Balogh was more than well aware of the fact that the government authorities would deal with any kind of insubordination. The young woman remembered what became of the last Enochian citizen who had spoken out against government policy and shuddered.
They had tied the young man to a pole in the middle of the planet’s capital city and lashed him thirty-five times in front of the members of the public just before a firing squad subjected him to a summary execution. In fact, there were many Enochian laws and policies that she didn’t agree with. The female military commander felt powerless to do anything about them.
Balogh recalled how happy she became when a messenger informed her of the change to the policy concerning slave treatment. The young Enochian female had allowed herself to believe for just a moment that circumstances were changing for the better.
As the weeks passed, the miraculous transformation in the government policy had led to a violent uprising by slaves who’d become more and more bold and antagonistic towards their owners. The policy also resulted in many of the slaves making attempts at escaping from their captivity, which caused many members of the Enochian population to request a return of the old policy.
The political officials within the Enochian government ignored the demands of its citizens. After a while, the escape attempts became more and more frequent and daring, until one of the male slaves made his way to the Capitol city’s central landing bay. In no time he has gained a fast ship which he had no problem operating.
Within an hour, the male slave had the well armed silvery-gold colored Cruiser in the air and then out of the planet’s stratosphere. They recaptured the male slave within a matter of a few days, but the incident prompted the Enochian government officials to take action and created the military’s third division. An intense feeling of hunger dragged Balogh from her, reminiscing.
The Enochian female commander turned her gaze back towards the Autarian female slave and then announced with a calm and firm tone of voice, Come over here, Leonia.
The youthful slave girl got to her feet and asked with a timid frown, as she made her way over to her owner, What is it you require of me, my lady?
Balogh took a deep breath and replied with a reassuring smile, as she took both of the trembling slave girl’s hands into her own, I’m starving, Leonia. I need you to run down to this ship’s cafeteria and fetch dinner for the both of us. Can you do that for me?
Leonia grinned, nodded and replied with an eager grin, "Yes. I can do that for you, my lady. Thank you for
including me. I’m starving myself."
Balogh nodded and said, I thought you were. Make sure they give you and I the same quality of food. If you run into any trouble with the kitchen staff, don’t handle it yourself. Just come to me, and I’ll take care of it. Have I made my instructions clear to you, Leonia?
The Autarian nodded and replied, Yes, My Lady. You’ve made your instructions to me very clear. I’ll be back with our dinner as quickly as possible, my lady.
Without waiting for a reply, the young female slave pulled her hands out of her owner’s grip, turned around and bounced out the door of her owner’s chambers to perform the requested task. balogh got to her feet and made her way over to her private bar intending to pour a drink for both herself and her slave, when she heard a sudden knocking sound on the outside of her chamber door. You may enter.
, Balogh declared, raising her voice an octave.
After a moment or two, the door opened and a onehundred-fourteen-year-old, medium built and blue-skinned Enochian computer technician with neck length purple hair and pink-colored star-shaped eyes dressed in a single teal colored tunic with matching polished tight fitting ankle length boots known as Cranor Saffold walked into the room and closed the door behind him.
Balogh turned back to her task and asked, as she reached under her shiny obsidian colored counter and pulled two medium-sized brandy glasses and a tall corked transparent green colored bottle that proved to be filled to the brim with strong dark colored wine, What is it I can do for you private Saffold?
The computer technician cleared his throat and replied, as he made his way over to the counter and held out several documents, "Here is the copy of the latest planetary
bio-scan that you’ve requested, Commander."
Balogh put the filled glass of wine down on the counter and
