About this ebook

TO FIND ONESELF IN THE DUALITY OF CONTRADICTIONS, ONE MUST FIRST LEARN TO KNOW ONESELF. THIS HOWEVER IS NOT A NATURAL PROCESS
As contemporary human beings, we exist in a one- and two-dimensional world,
of fearful desire for food, wealth, sex, recognition, and immortality.
Unaware of its illusory state, where perception manifests our reality,
we are equally unaware of our own hybrid state:
As beings of physical and metaphysical features for which,
the attainment of the Higher Dimensions is our very birthright.
This ‘attainment’ does not come naturally though; it requires our awareness of the conceptual world,
as well as the acceptance of our conditioned mechanicalness within it.
These observations and contemplations aim to offer such awareness, and to enhance the Seeker of Truth with the means to discover, understand and accept his or her undivided Self.
This book combines philosophy, including gnostic thought, religion, as well as the observed psychology and sociology of contemporary ways, within the arenas of politics, geopolitics and corporatism,
through the lens of spirituality and magic.
It is this that defines the supernatural wonders into which the Seeker of Truth must cross his or her own threshold.
As with all things of substance, the answer to these mysteries, will not be found in selected subjects or even the sum of their parts – as in such, one only finds Chaos. It is only in knowing the Whole of the Self that complete acceptance of All can emerge.

    FOREWORD

These writings are not aimed at being an easy read or to become overnight best sellers or carry fame for fortune; they are aimed to serve a selected few who, by their nature, accident or fate, have come to realize that the phenomena of their existence, and that of the world around them, cannot be explained rationally. Nothing is random, but there seems to be more than merely the mechanical nature of things, and more than just a ghost-of-sorts within this machine.

Within these pages, one enters an investigative journey into the inner world of man, with its intention being the discovery of itself. It describes, not the ‘what’, which is the effect of man and his individual and collective psyche or ego, but the ‘why’ and ‘how’.

Note that the masculine referral such as ‘man’, him or his, throughout these writings, does not refer to gender but ‘mankind’ or ‘humanity’

    As Above, so Below

Just as there are systematic rhythms, cycles and patterns in Great Nature and the physical Cosmos as a whole, there are equally similar predictable phenomena in the meta-physical or supra-natural worlds; things that cannot be explained intellectually or logically, and the purpose of which defeats contemporary thought. There are many ‘Big Bang’ theories prevalent in the attempt to understand man, and much is categorized in contradictory scientific analysis or is officially buried within state or other fear-imposed dogma; fear that has most people cower from discovering the unknown.

Writings such as these are regrettably undigestible to a great many due to their inability to resist the various easy, attractive and cunningly orchestrated alternatives or distractions which have, over many years, mesmerized them into various states of hypnosis. These states are such that they falsely believe they are awake and that their minds are free. Unable to awaken to the multi-dimensional realization of the being known as man, and a realization that is the birthright of every man and woman to discover, its existence remains shunned in lieu of the supposed easy and unburdened life of perpetual pleasure and comfort.

These writings are therefore aimed at assisting those who are on the threshold of falling asleep or having accidentally awakened, and to offer them a path for contemplation. The intention is to stimulate their awareness of a reality they falsely believe is their own, and which they equally falsely believe, cannot be altered.

To start this journey, it is necessary for one to sincerely realize that the dimension of the observable Cosmos we perceive with our basic sensory apparatus, is mechanical in every way. Its design is conscious and intelligent, and everything in it works according to specific laws and parameters; laws which equally apply to its living inhabitants of all forms. Within the divine architecture of this mechanism’s numerous elements, energies and forces, a form has become manifest, and one that incorporates the influences of the entire cosmos: Man.

Subject to a variety of external factors, combined with his ability to transfer knowledge to peers and successors across many millennia, the intellectual ability of man grew, but as neither his social or spiritual nature, nor his physical abilities evolved, the world around him evolved instead. Across the centuries and especially over the last decades, the various structures of man’s so-called ‘civilized world’ imposed general states of thought-reform and opinion-control. These reforms, although mostly by cunning design, simply follow the characteristics in the mechanical nature of man. Regardless, the purpose of these designs was and still is to control, and if necessary restructure, global economies – including humanity and its systems of exchange. This is mostly done by weakening the bastion of human sovereignty, and the most powerful tool known to modern man: the thinking and focused mind or psyche.

The presence of these possessive ‘forces’ is not new though; they have been around for as long as the human ego upon which they feed. Much has been written about these and can be found by the inquisitive seeker-of-cause, but a one-sided record of history is not what these writings are about.

The existence of a dark side within human nature must however be considered and recognized if one seeks to sincerely know and understand the meaning of a path of ‘Truth and Light’. The inner work required to grow and enhance the true self, to germinate a soul and transcend this very limited dimension – if one wishes to do so – is a journey fraught with material, sensual and vital distraction, as there are veritable powerful and magical energies that work to convince man’s feeble ego to submit and subject itself. To not take these into account will most definitely lead the unprepared and uninitiated traveller onto an incomplete-able journey.

When using the ordinary or contemporary form of analytical thought and reason, limited to his present dimensional reality, the answer to man’s deeper questions will not lead him anywhere. To transcend this dimensional limitation, man must begin by accepting that a large part of the intellectual analysis of his questions can only be done symbolically or through simile and myth; thereafter he must, through patient and persistent work, gradually awaken to the paranormal or meta-physical realms.

To contemporary educated authorities and positivists, this was an unacceptable condition and, subsequently, they created a world of constants and internally referenced or pre-determined theories, some of which were even more imaginative than the ancient myths they persevere to avoid or replace. This is understandable though. In the polar world of opposites, answers to questions are constantly formulated through external relation, outside of the actual phenomenon. This one-dimensional approach is hopeless though, as the seeds to the answers man truly seeks lie dormant within each one of us; seeds that need to be known of first, located second and germinated third. Thereafter, careful cultivation is necessary to find fruition. Most of us do not know this; we are not aware of the existence of the proverbial key, or the door it unlocks, and naturally we cannot envision the space or state of realization it leads to. This is due to a limited dimensional understanding, carefully hidden by man’s everyday conditioning.

The existence of this key, door and state can be taught, but only if the listener sincerely allows him- or herself to do so, as the key to the door will always lie in the heart of the individual. He or she must truthfully develop the passion – not desire – to realize this, to the extent that nothing in this world or life is more important. Letting go of everything, including that which we call ‘I’ is required, to find out who, or rather what we truly are, and to learn the ultimate meaning of non-being and formless. It is a scary concept but it does not have to be; part of the purpose of these writings is to assist the willing and truthful seeker to commence his or her journey back to the Source of Consciousness, the Absolute.

Where then does the road start, and how does one begin? Perhaps by asking the question: ‘Do you believe in Magic?’

The difference of opinion between man or apparition – when it comes to observing holy ones – has caused centuries of strife and war in pretty much all known religions, and subsequently diluted, distorted or deeply buried the message these messengers brought forth. It seems man remains unable to accept the message without judging its messenger, such that if the saint or prophet does it, it’s called a miracle, but if man does it, it’s magic – yet why can they not be both one and the same? Why is it that contemporary man does not wish to acknowledge the meta-physical and super-natural, or the magical and miraculous powers present and evident within him and his everyday activities? Why is it that much of his contemporary beliefs are in contradiction or opposition to what is obviously rooted in universal Truth?

Man ‘officially’ acknowledges the placebo effect as real, but is unable to understand or acknowledge the power that harnesses and drives such self-healing. He acknowledges the infinity of thought, the infinity of the universe, the infinity in energy, and even the infinity in numbers, yet still he tells himself he is finite and everything around him has a beginning and will have an end. It appears he is unable to comprehend or acknowledge that, in the presence of any infinite realm where there is no end and no beginning, all things that exist with or within it, must be equally infinite! If he factually knows that infinity exists, how can he possibly perceive anything as finite?

To find the answers of infinite and unknown dimensions, man cannot search in the known and finite. In the world of opposites, man’s journey outwards must start inwards, into the seemingly finite being but which is rooted in the infinite – the inner world of man. To do so, he must first learn to observe himself so that he may know himself; for the magician within to awaken and bring the impossible, incompatible and opposite elements together is magic – it veritably creates life! It also enables man to live his life harmoniously, in peace with himself and the world, producing that spark which germinates the seed of the soul, and then feeds it to its full enhancement – fulfilling the very purpose of being!

That is what these writings are ultimately about.

Book I enters an analysis of the Inner World of Man, and is followed by Book II which contemplates the Outer World of Man. These two are concluded by Book III, Merging the Inner & Outer World of Man, which connects them.

To understand the whole, we must know the parts and realize that it is not their sum that creates, but the flow of synergy within.

    A PERSONAL NOTE

When asked by people, who were familiar with me, if I planned to write a book about some of my life experiences, it always seemed to be a bit of a controversial topic to me. Although I believe we all live through our day-to-day events, and simply face the challenges of living life as they unfold, as any man would, to them it seemed, my journey was still more adventurous. Perhaps it was because mine included, from time to time, the physical struggle required to preserve life and, whilst facing considerable odds, weathering the taste of fear whilst escaping, with the skin mostly intact, from a variety of complex, challenging and unusual circumstances.

In addition, I had been privileged to interact, by my nature, fate or accident, with teachers and mentors across a wide spectrum of physical, technical, intellectual, geopolitical and spiritual or religious fields – all of whom naturally left their stamp on the psyche of my being.

To some who envisioned a more eventful life for themselves, others’ lives will always seem more interesting or wholesome than theirs. This view was contemplated for many years; not so much due to a desire to write or not to write, and therewith share tales and learnings, but rather on:

    -    If the tales one would write were true?

    -    Why would one do this, what would the purpose be?

    -    How would this best be accomplished?

The first consideration was ‘Truth’: One’s biographical writings would be based on personal recollections and perspectives, and as these all had viewpoints and opinions attached at the time of their occurrence, it seems obvious that one may not remember and recollect an event as it actually occurred. In fact, it was quite clear, considering the nature and ego of man, that one would likely, subconsciously, lean towards describing it the way one desires it to be remembered.

The second consideration was ‘Why’: Regardless of the accuracy of these tales, they would merely seem interesting to some, a challenge or inspirational to others and something unattainable and other-worldly to many more. Neither of these would necessarily be conducive to such readers; on the contrary perhaps, as it would take away the realistic observation of their own unique lives. Each one of us lives his or her own unique adventure, as boring or as exciting as it may be; each equally suffers his or her own tragedies, co-creates their own fate and would subsequently write their own beautiful and meaningful story, as they experienced it. The impact of any life-changing experience is never defined by the ‘what’ that occurs, but rather how it was perceived and how it was responded to. What right does one therefore have to influence a fellow being’s focus by intentionally distracting him or her from their own complex journey of life, with that of another?

The third and last consideration was ‘How’: How to convey certain unusual and vitally important discoveries that were learnt and engrained through a way of life?

The true beauty in life does not lie in quantity, quality or its variety, but in being able to be consciously observant of the present in all its profound wondrous detail, and to see the universal interconnectedness in both the large and small in every detail. To do so requires correct knowledge, sincere work and wilful sacrifice; enabling oneself to identify and let go of things that are not necessary, and observe what remains. The emergent effects and realizations that arise from these are unique to every person and cannot be taught along standard lines. Hence, these three undertakings of the third factor became elucidated within the 40 chapters of this book, compared to the 32 chapters of Book II and tied together in the 9 chapters of Book III.

The project that spanned across roughly 20 years started with a focus on thoughts that began to emerge on specific concepts, that had germinated and had begun to take root along logic and reason. Intuitiveness and intellect aside, there were many additional components that led to this process. One cannot discount the profound influences on the psyche and its teachings of various teachers and mentors such as Terri, Stuart, Phil and Vidyananda, but also a great number of others with whom one consciously interacted with along the journey of life, or the chance encounters one has with interesting people who, after a brief interaction, left one with certain selected but profound insights.

Then there were the 20th-century writings and teachings of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky, Krishnamurti and Osho, Freud and Jung, Allan Watts, as well as discussions with various and numerous learned and wise Buddhist, Hindu and Orthodox Christian monks. Even the views of more radical observers such as Terrence McKenna and Rupert Sheldrake were observed, as well as those independent researchers of man’s ancient history such as Hancock, Bauval and West, which carried much weight. Added to this diverse bouquet of influences were the much older writings of ancient Stoic philosophers such as Marcus Aurelius as well as the profound messages of Hermes Trismegistus, Gautama Buddha and Jesus Christ. The list can go on as there were and still are many enlightened beings of vastly diverse backgrounds, views and standings, but unlike contemporary man’s way of seeking and highlighting their differences to confirm their sectarian ways, the miraculous was found in discovering the obvious common ground they all shared:

To seek out and teach Truth.

Last but not least were the ‘other’ teachers that are not of this world; encountered during deep meditations and altered states of consciousness, sometimes enhanced by ceremonial practices using plant-based medicine such as Ayahuasca.

The sincere wish to know, combined with an interest in learning and a willingness to unreservedly open up to these numerous and various teachers, thereby enabling their teachings to sink in and saturate the core of the self, led to the emergence of an intuitive understanding of a great many things. At times, one could simply have a deep conversation or correspondence with someone, who was either psychologically very strong or very disadvantaged, but from which contrast revelatory and profound insights originated.

The last years of rewriting and editing, it can perhaps be said, were done more consciously, but even then – what does ‘consciously’ actually mean? Who runs the machine and how does it come about, being formatted the way it is – was it by accident, nature or fate, and which is which, how do we differentiate between these, and is there anything that is actually random?

It cannot be denied that the ‘present’ anyone finds him- or herself in, within that confluence of the inner and outer worlds, is that which was brought on by each and every one of the hereditary, conditioned or coerced, experiential and causal influences; and that all parts – good, bad and those in between – were essentially necessary to come to be where and what one is today. There were, across the years of this life – whether as a professional soldier, sailor, diver, or in businesses of various and unusual kinds, in often difficult and trying circumstances or strange locations – many eventful and often unusual experiences, for which one’s understanding required vast amounts of time in observation, contemplation and meditation. Along these there were also many interesting, boring, average as well as aggravating people, from all walks of life, class, religion or beliefs, ranging from the animist shaman to the devout fundamental follower of religious dogma, with levels of intellect ranging from those with super-genius and brilliant capabilities to the most primitive. From each and all of these, great and valuable lessons could be and were learnt, and all became integral parts of my present being, as ultimately, to sincerely understand, the existence of all things on all sides of the various spectra need to be accepted.

Intuitive understanding, as referred to above, does not come by itself; a sincere willingness to know, even at the cost of having to forget much that was false or not very important, was necessary. Then, not only letting go of what one believes is the known reality, but also being prepared to enter a space where one’s very life-existence in time and space may become irrelevant when one lets go of that false reality. As long as one remains identified with it, one cannot let it go – and that includes one’s place in it. This can pose a great and torturous mental dilemma, as it entails ripping out the ego by being willing to let go of everything – including the very idea of one’s existence, mentally erasing the footprints made in a world one thought one was a part of.

Consequently, by now being able to apply deep, unrestricted and constant thought on all things that puzzled, some of the conclusions derived by following this kind of work were profound. It was beyond anything one can ever find by constant reading or searching or talking; among the conclusions was the awareness of the existence of a certain type of portal or access, to all forms of knowledge and understanding. It now merely required the veritable passion to develop an undivided and immovable intention to seek and discover the true knowledge and understanding of the sincere self.

Ultimately, none of the views or discoveries written about in this book are unique. Everything noted here was already discovered thousands, if not tens of thousands of years ago – evidence of which is everywhere, in plain sight to the awakened and initiated eye. These writings are not for everyone though, and especially the deeper work is not popular in contemporary society which frowns upon anything but that which is sensory or measurable. My own journey on these subjects has been at times not one with a great many companions; in fact, the road became lonelier due to a separation off contemporary man’s ways and thinking. Many an old friend would honour or humour by listening, but only to the point where the views and findings began to infringe upon their ‘chosen’ and ‘safe’ material lifestyles, beliefs and patterns. Attempts to describe a discovered, observed, studied and constantly changing world – a world in complete opposition and contrast to theirs, would uncomfortably and unacceptably tear into their unchanging and outcome-based existence – one which they preferred to perceive through electronic screens and biased third-hand sources.

It is therefore with the assumption that perhaps their eyes and ears were simply not yet ready to open and that perhaps, one day or one life, they will. It is with sincere hope, when they do choose to awaken, that access to bona fide forms of literature or learning remains easily available; meaning those from the unedited teachings of ancient masters, and not that which has been and still is purposely inserted by the charlatans and propagandists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

As we race at an ever-increasing speed, through our various and busy lives, desperately trying to ‘make it to the other side’, at a certain point in life we may begin to grow wiser and receptive to a divine presence within and without. This is when we begin to hear the reason and logic behind the old Stoic and Gnostic philosophers, unswayed by the passage of time or political and religious dogmatic theology. Of the various purposes of this writing, another purpose was to weave within its fibres some of these old insights, and the reader is invited to review these with an open, unbiased and truthful heart. If you feel there seems to be some resonance, then re-read, contemplate and if need be, read it again. It may take as many as three reviews for the layers of a conditioned and opinionated mind to dissolve. Then, take pen and paper and write down your own thoughts and feelings, but allow the free spirit within to flow, like water; founded in the heart (or soul), through the brain (or mind) to the hand and out the pen, one may witness miracles and magic as never believed existed within.

    BOOK I

    THE INNER EVOLUTION OF MAN

    Chapter 1

THE TRANSCENDING AND DESCENDING DIMENSIONS OF MAN

    Image No. 1

Man is a most complex, beautiful and unique creation.

Of both form and formless substance,

he has within him all the Divine elements.

Understanding this from a dimensional platform

of either form or formless is not possible.

    One must become Him,

    in perfect balance and presence, truthful and good;

that which is false and impure, at death remains,

as only the pure is true and eternal.

The problem in trying to explain or understand higher dimensions is that man generally only uses the three-dimensional faculties and language, that he inherited through hereditary means and education. To describe something that is beyond the laws of time and space as he knows it, and thus theoretically indescribable according to the laws of his three-dimensional existence, requires a higher level of understanding. For this he has to learn to use his Intuitive Center, and this center can only be self-taught and germinated through work and inner contemplation.

One may wonder Why bother? and to this it is probably best to say, if that is how one feels, then don’t – really!

If one does not really see the point or is not passionately drawn to understanding the Creator’s higher essence in man, which resides inert within the deep subconscious of all people, then it is best to leave this kind of study alone. Without passion and sincere intent to grow and expand, one will achieve nothing; in fact, what one finds may become too disruptive to one’s everyday and still very necessary existence and psyche. If however one is sincere and passionate in this, and has continuously wondered about simply too many inexplicable and coincidental phenomena, then continue reading, but remember to ingest these understandings in little bites, ‘baby steps’ as they say.

    Try to imagine this first:

A one-dimensional object is a simple line that has two directions, and ‘anything’ that exists on that line will either move towards one side or towards the other. This is the extent of its existence or awareness, and it knows nothing else.

Then extend one’s perspective outward and begin to see the 2nd dimension, a mere plane or surface. In the minds-eye, one notes how a hypothetical two-dimensional object – a mere plane – consists of an infinite amount of one-dimensional lines.

Expanding awareness further, one begins to make out the solid volume of a three-dimensional object like a cube, and one understands that this solid will consist of an infinite amount of two-dimensional planes.

Here now is one of the keys to understanding a hierarchical law of dimensions:

Just as something on a one-dimensional ‘line’ cannot comprehend the reality of the ‘higher’ two-dimensional plane or surface, something hypothetically existing on the two-dimensional plane or surface cannot envision the existence of the three-dimensional solid it is a part of. The three-dimensional solid, however, knows and is able to understand the two-dimensional aspect of itself, as it does of the one-dimensional context within its two-dimensional sides.

From the lesser’s means of understanding and viewpoint in all things, the higher cannot really be fathomed or understood. Something on a one-dimensional object cannot understand a plane-surface aspect, and something on a plane-surface dimension cannot understand the depth element that makes it three-dimensional. But that which is, or is conscious of, the higher is always aware of its lesser elements’ existence.

Like the trillions of cells in the body that individually do not understand the sum total of man’s complexity, man himself however, does understand the concept, life and complexity of a cell. In the same way that man does not understand the concept of a Being that is neither mortal nor immortal, that is both time-less and space-less, such higher Beings do understand man!

Now, if one can almost understand this, transfer this concept to man itself.

If one considers that man generally ‘reads and studies’ things one dimensionally – like in the form of a line: he starts the book on the first page at the beginning of a sentence and follows it by reading it to its end. Just looking at the book as a whole though, he will not grasp its content. This is therefore how he studies most things, including his life, ‘a beginning with some time in between and an end’.

Then consider how man ‘sees’ all things two dimensionally – like a picture. A smiling face is automatically assumed a happy one and its observer has no idea or comprehension of the life and the complexity of that person who carried that smiling face. Man thus surrounds himself with photo-like pictures of what he believes entails his reality and identity; ‘creating memories’ he calls it, yet he remains unconscious and unaware of the depth of what he is looking at.

The only aspect of man that remains three-dimensional in him, is his physical form; but even here he is unable to comprehend this dimensional state or accept its changes through the even higher dimension he simply knows as ‘Time’. He walks around with many time-recording pieces and lives punctually, but he has no actual idea of the meaning of ‘Time’ and ignorantly continues to observe Time as something one-dimensional, like a line with an end. One can imagine how he now frantically tries to make sense of this multi-dimensional confusion: he fearfully observes and tries to forget, or at least slow down, the constant ‘change’ that must exist for ‘Life’ to be! Not accepting the physical form’s decline and its inevitable end, man’s awareness of his life remains in a two-dimensional state.

The contemporary man is born a three-dimensional being but, due to his artificial and social conditioning into an entirely mechanically responsive being, from the very minute he is born, he has descended and devolved along his various senses into mere two- and one-dimensional states of consciousness.

He is hopelessly and disastrously stuck here. From a lesser state, man is unable to see or acknowledge the higher dimensions, let alone understand them, and consequently he lives his life grasping at finite material, physical and measurable things to fixate his beliefs.

The particular dimension that man’s ‘sensory awareness’ exists in characterizes everything he does, feels, senses and thinks. When he chooses to awaken and has worked hard on an understanding of himself for many years, he will gradually begin to sense that the reality his five basic senses observe, is actually quite false, deceptive and opposite to ‘Truth’.

And herein lies another paradox of the life of a contemporary man: The opposite of ‘Truth’ is an ‘untruth’ and, as an untruth or a lie has no substance and is not real, it does not exist. The personality or ego of man which lives a lie therefore, from a higher dimensional perspective, does not exist!

Unless one has attained a level of awareness of the higher dimensions, it is very complex if not impossible to dispute such paradoxical statements as, from within the lower one- and two-dimensional perspectives described, reality is in constant flux; it actually changes whilst one is looking at it, and unless one becomes acutely aware and knowledgeable of this, one does not actually ever take note of it – and most do not. As this seems unimaginable to the basic senses, one cannot but wonder why this is so, and how is it possible that the vast majority of people seem oblivious to the Divine Truth?

It is because most people are actually asleep most if not all of the time; they exist in a hypnotized and mesmerized bubble that is carefully guarded and contained by a two-dimensional ego that deeply fears being detected. To avoid such detection, the ego goes even further by finding safety in numbers; descending into a one-dimensional environment it is able to create collectives in forms of religions, tribes, nationalities, political affiliations, social and professional status as well as various gangs and sentiment-based organizations. To these groups, all ‘belong’ to whatever title they have given themselves and the identity of which they sadly deem as their own.

One-dimensional states of being are of the type where one is ‘either with them or against them’, within which is created a well-defended but entirely one-dimensional environment, perspective and existence!

These collective, one-dimensional organizations in general, have also subconsciously conditioned in the minds of their members, a state of being, or certain patterns of belief, that lulled them into the false belief that man is conscious, awake and intelligent, and that God and Divine beings such as Angels are mere children’s stories.

As the observant reader may have noted by now, these are serious allegations, and by no means simple teachings that one can learn and understand by just reading. They contradict everything one knows as ‘real’, and therefore require an inner revolution, that challenges all one believes to be true and, especially, all that which man thinks is the self or ‘I’.

Understanding this requires one to challenge everything; from man’s system of mind or thought conditioning, also known as ‘education’, to his social and supposedly democratic ways of living, his false belief in dogmatic religions, and an evolution from worm or fish, to ape and man.

[On the latter point of ‘evolution’, it should for example be quite obvious to logical reason that, just like making copies of copies cannot create an original, a lesser animal cannot evolve into the higher more complex form by itself. Man could not have grown out of the ape, but inevitably formed from a confluence of divine influences, out of higher dimensions. Unbeknownst to him, he is therefore already a part of such Higher Dimensions!]

The contradictions of this study are such that they must question every ‘known’ truth and penetrate everything personal as well: all the numerous forms of identification of ourselves, all those things which we constantly say ‘I’ to, as well as the understanding of what the true meaning of our existence is.

Even the very concept of the process known as ‘understanding’ must be re-interpreted:

Most people are ‘educated’ and believe they are clever, know everything and therefore, believe they ‘obviously understand’. This is their biggest failure. Believing that they know when they do not, is worse than not knowing that one knows not; therefore – in believing that they know when they do not, they are in worse trouble because, for as long as they believe this, they cannot learn anything new – their eyes and ears are automatically shut.

True understanding can therefore not be taught, only realized.

Realization comes from obtaining correct and verified knowledge and combining this with conscious work in a finely tuned balance: this is what ancient Gnosticism actually referred to. Gnostics were not simply people who had knowledge, they were those who sincerely practiced living by applying what they learned, in measured balance. They understood that too much work and too little knowledge creates someone who is always busy, but never knows
