About this ebook

A MIRACLE BREAKTHROUGH IN MENTAL AND GENERAL HEALTH
The cavemen discovered that to pull an animal carcass over a log was easier than to drag it on the ground, so a log was probably the inspiration for the wheel invention.
Since all actions of an organism are in the direction of survival, a scientist discovered that unconsciousness was a natural process to cushion the ultimate pain of death.
The state of unconsciousness was uncharted territory at that time, simply because the medical fraternity, by consensus, stated that there is no memory in such a state.
Inventions come about after discoveries, and the scientist ‘invented’ some processes whereby periods of unconsciousness could be studied.
With a group of volunteers, he did further research and made these startling discoveries:
The people in the research group had various periods of unconsciousness, but all had one period of unconsciousness in common, that of birth.
There is a complete and very accurate record (including perceptions) of everything that was said and done around an unconscious person. However, this record is not available to the person in a conscious state, and thus the statement by the medical profession that unconsciousness causes amnesia.
Unconsciousness is the greatest threat to survival, and the organism knows it.
All mental woes (repressions, compulsions, phobias, psychotic behaviour etc.) and psychosomatic ills (arthritis, ulcers, headaches etc.) have their roots in periods of unconsciousness.
When all the content of unconsciousness is refilled in the conscious memory banks, mental conditions and psychosomatic ills abates.
After the scientist codified the processes and wrote a thesis on the subject, he offered it to the American Medical Association as well as the American Psychiatric Association. Both of these associations are headed by medical doctors, and the scientist must have posed a threat to their survival (a sick patient means return business) because both associations refused his offer or to evaluate his research.
This novel is written as fiction, but is based on lesser known, important facts. It also explores what might have happened if the associations did accept his offer. The book provides the reader with the necessary information should the reader decide to pursue the subject.

‘a Miracle Breakthrough in Mental Health ...Eureka!’ - Brian Fitzpatrick, Sr

A MIRACLE BREAKTHROUGH IN MENTAL AND GENERAL HEALTH

    EUREKA!

    A NOVEL BY BRIAN FITZPATRICK

Copyright © Brian Fitzpatrick 2022 All rights reserved

    BRIEF NOVEL OUTLINE

The FIRST fact is also the title of the novel ‘A MIRACLE BREAKTHROUGH IN MENTAL HEALTH . . . EUREKA!’ There is a complete memory of all PERIODS OF UNCONSIOUSNESS. This was indeed a miracle breakthrough because ALL MENTAL WOES (compulsions, phobias, repressions etc.) and PSYCHOSOMATIC CONDITIONS (headaches, gout, ulcers etc.) have their roots in unconscious periods.

The above fact alone will make the story CONTROVERSIAL simply because medical ‘experts’ believe that no person can have memories of unconscious periods.

The SECOND fact will make the book even more controversial. Unborn babies can have periods of unconsciousness. The aim of the novel is to warn the reader and to create an internet site where people can share their experiences.

The THIRD fact is that there is a REMEDY for mental conditions and psychosomatic illness. This is described in detail in the novel (see footnote).

With much research the FOURTH fact was uncovered. Psychologists and psychiatrists have NO IDEA what causes mental conditions.

    BRIEF PLOT OUTLINE

Planet Earth has a twin; Planet Tolnay. Due to circumstances and a high moral code the leaders of Tolnay decide to compensate the people of Earth for a wrongdoing. A discovery was made that was beneficial to everyone and they decide that this discovery will also benefit Earth’s population.

In order to implement their decision a fact finding mission is sent to Earth. The mission members are all professionals in various fields and must also come up with alternate ideas in case the discovery cannot be shared with Earth.

    This is for

    PART 1

    ORIENTATION AND PREPARATION

Anxiety, nervousness, even a hint of fear seemed the general order, but that was just a cover amongst those present to try and hide their excitement of the unknown.

I was sitting at a console in the third row of the auditorium and tried to make my observations as casual as possible. From my experience as a patent and intellectual property inspector, the one trait that I recognize of a person who is exited is the inability to sit still, and nobody sat still. But then, I did my own share of fidgeting, because I was probably more excited than the others that were in attendance.

My excitement stems directly from a meeting that I had with Knishea two days earlier. She told me that I was chosen as a member of a fact finding mission that the Oversee Order is planning and am I prepared to participate. Of course I would be willing to join, but what is it all about? Where will we be going? Knishea simply said that all will be revealed at today’s briefing. However, she did fuel my excitement when she asked me if I have ever been on a Floater trip.

I was briefly introduced to all the people in front of me the previous day but communications were limited to a ‘How do you do?’ or a ‘Pleased to meet you’ and then I was ushered off to meet some other member of the group. What I did know, judging purely from the small talk that I overheard, was that all were strangers to one another.

We were all given rather strange sounding names as aliases and all introductions sounded peculiar. For the duration of this information briefing, we were told, we had to address one another with these given names. I looked from person to person and was dismayed that I could only recall four names.

That was not quite correct because the pretty one, Margie, whose name I also remembered, was the last to arrive. Our eyes met briefly and I made a gesture for her to come and sit next to me. She waved her right hand in a ‘hello’ to those that noticed her entrance and then, to my surprise, she came and sat at the console next to mine. What surprised me more was that she remembered my name.

Good morning Vic, my name is Margie. She also added a smile.

Hi Margie, thanks for joining me. I said, a bit unsure of myself.

She did not seem to notice anything unusual in my voice tone. With all the packing and all the other errands I had to do, I did not think I would be on time. She did not give me a chance to assure her that the briefing seminar was due to start at 09H00 and that she was not late, but she lowered her voice and leaned closer to me, Did they also relieve you of your luggage at the gate?

Yes, but I am sure that it will be safe. Maybe it has something to do with this seminar but I am sure nobody will go through your things without your consent. I tried to put her at ease.

This is all rather new to me and I don’t know whether I will be able to…. She stopped talking when she saw Knishea walking very businesslike towards the podium.

Knishea is the head of Security & Intelligence of the Oversee Order and since the department for which I work falls under her umbrella, she is my indirect boss. She is of less than medium height, has a bit of a middle age spread but is always very professional. She disapproves with a very sharp sarcastic tongue if anyone was late for a meeting. One of her old tricks was, when everyone was present for a meeting, she would start proceedings even before the scheduled time.

The podium platform raised about 30cm when Knishea got onto it and at the same time all the monitors at the occupied consoles sprang into life with a close-up picture of her face.

    We all got up.

Good morning, please sit, I am glad that you could all attend. Knishea was her staunch, no-nonsense self. I think that the reason she always acted prim and proper was because of her position in the Oversee Order. She did not wait for any response from the small audience and continued. But, maybe I chase you away again! You were all asked yesterday if you still want to continue with this…this, she searched for the right word, mission or assignment. I am putting that offer on the table again. Any or all can leave right now without repercussions of any kind.

She looked from person to person in the auditorium and the audience looked at each other. Nobody made a sound, nobody made a move.

It appears as though we have no takers. She concluded, What if I had to tell you that after today’s proceedings you can still pull out but will then be held in custody for the mission’s duration?

Again the people looked at one another, waiting for the other to make the first move, yet nobody did.

Knishea appeared desperate for us to grasp the seriousness of the situation. No takers?

This time somebody did move, a buzzer sounded.

Knishea consulted her monitor at the podium then looked at a console in the first row. Yes Arlene?

A woman with very dark hair got up. Can you give me an idea of how long this mission will be?

That is the one thing that you all have a right to know before you commit yourselves and I am sorry that I have overlooked it. The duration will be about eight months if everything goes according to plan but no longer than nine or ten months.

Thank you. Arlene sat down again.

Needless to say NOW there was a lot of looking at one another. The earlier excitement had returned because the fidgeting returned. I made a conscious point of not looking at Margie as I did not want to sway her in any way. Knishea at the podium kept dead quiet, matter of fact there was silence in the auditorium for about three minutes, and still nobody said anything.

Knishea broke the silence after what seemed a lot longer than three minutes. You don’t only look like a tough group. You are a tough group! The tension dissipated and everyone seemed more relaxed in an instant.

I think I have just sealed my fate. I took a side glance at Margie, And I think you have sealed yours.

My goodness but she is a looker. The two corrugations from her nose to her upper lip made the bow a little more prominent, add blue eyes and dark brown hair and there is the perfect package.

She did not say anything but she gave me a bit of a smile.

From now security is of the utmost importance. Knishea once again had our attention. I take it that you all have mobile communication devices. Please hand them in now and please do not dial any number at all but place the devices on the console in front of you.

My phone was off (I had to switch it off, as I suppose all the others did, at the request of the door guard when I entered) and I took it out and did as requested, the others did the same. Our phones were put into already marked envelopes, by a man that seemed to appear from nowhere. A short while later the man and phones were gone.

If you have any other mobile communication devices in your luggage it will also be confiscated. Knishea informed us. You don’t have to worry your luggage will be searched in your presence but all of you will also be subjected to a body search by a member of your own gender. Her statement had the desired effect. Once more the people looked at one another but everyone appeared happy with this information.

"This evening you will make one more call, under my supervision, to a close friend or relative to inform them as to why you will be absent for such a long period. I am afraid it will be a bit of a lie, no make that a big lie, but like I said security is now paramount.

"You were all told yesterday, while you were going through the various phases of the security clearance process that this mission is of great importance to our country, Lefhon. That was an understatement. This mission is of VITAL importance not only to Lefhon but to the whole of this planet. Matter of fact there is a real possibility that Tolnay could come under threat in the future or maybe it already is."

I looked at the close-up of Knishea’s face on the monitor to see if this was some kind of a joke. Her facial expression told me otherwise.

The Grand Council of the Oversee Order has a problem with Glanaver. She said a few other things as well, that I did not quite catch because I was momentarily stuck in Glanaver, the ‘rebel’ country where I did an inspection about eight months earlier.

The problem is not really with the country but with one of its corporations.

To say the least, I was disappointed and touched the buzzer. Knishea consulted her console. What is on your mind Vic? She knew my name but stuck to the rules to use our given names.

I got up and let off a bit of steam. With respect you said the mission was of vital importance to our planet, but I cannot see how a single corporation in Glanaver can be a threat to us here in Lefhon, let alone this planet. I sat down. All this secrecy for something so trivial!

"Maybe you didn’t listen to what I said Vic. I said that our planet could be under threat and that the Grand Council has a problem with a corporation in Glanaver. I did NOT say that a corporation in Glanaver was threatening us here in Lefhon or this planet."

Her sarcasm deflated my ego and to rub salt into the wound, a number of people turned around to have a better look at me.

I was awfully thankful when she continued. The corporation that the Grand Council has a problem with, so by the way, is the one that you did an inspection on. She smiled and my monitor confirmed that I was not seeing things. Your report of that inspection is the reason for this mission. Can you see the trouble that you have caused all of us? The audience turned to look again.

Knishea took her eyes off me but to my disbelief she was still smiling and addressed the small group in general. That was just a small joke on Vic. As if by permission a few people laughed. But he did a very thorough job in Glanaver. His report landed up with the Grand Council and is now top priority. A lot of actions have already been set in motion and this briefing is, hopefully, the last of them.

Her smile was gone but my ego inflated just a little.

With a new bit of courage I stole a glance at Margie but her attention was on the podium. I looked around and to my embarrassment found that a few pairs of eyes were still on me.

Now, if there is still any doubt as to the importance of this mission, the person who will address you next will change your minds. The background to, and reason for this mission, will be explained by Denog himself. I really think you are a tough group and on behalf of Lefhon I thank you all for your participation.

Knishea touched a button on the console and the platform lowered, she gave a brief wave and left.

    XXX

Quite a bit of commotion followed. I turned to Margie, I suppose you know who he is?

Margie nodded. Yes, spokesperson for the Grand Council of the Oversee Order. she said nonchalantly.

I was taken aback by her casual answer. Don’t you know that he is the most powerful and also the most important person on this planet? I was a bit disappointed at her lack of knowledge.

She looked at me and her blue eyes reprimanded me. Just because he is the spokesperson for the Grand Council and yes, the Grand Council is powerful, but in my book nobody is more important than the next. You are important so am I, so is everyone else, so please don’t invalidate yourself with ideas of such a nature.

Boy was I at a loss of words. To my relief a close up picture of Denog appeared on my monitor.

Like robots we all got up, but sat down almost immediately obeying his hand gesture.

Good morning. He looked from the one person to the next and mentioned all our new names from first to last. Vincent, Nicole, Howard…. He grinned. So it will appear that you are all committed now? A question none of us could answer because he carried on talking without a pause.

My name is Denog and I was elected as spokesperson for the Grand Council of the Oversee Order. For you to understand why this mission is secretive and important, I will have to give you a bit of a history of the Oversee Order. He selected a button on the console in front of him and a disk-like seat flapped down from the back of the podium. This might take a while so I hope you don’t mind if I make myself comfortable. I am not as young as I used to be.

That was evident from his balding head and the hair that was left gave only a slight hint that it was once dark.

Tolnay had many more countries than there is at present. Denog started his history lesson. A few hundred years ago war was the order of the day. Greed to conquer and occupy land meant war. Big countries engulfed smaller countries and so on. Weaponry became more and more sophisticated and destructive. He grimaced. Something had to happen!

I am sure you have all heard of the Great War of 1834 that only ended in 1837. Needless to say many, many lives were lost. Had it carried on neither you nor I would have been here today. Denog made a flat hand motion across his neck. "They would have wiped out one another!

"History was made when a leader, Roloshala, from a small country, called on the leaders, and by ‘leaders’ I mean heads of governments, of all the countries on Tolnay to cease war activities, for a two week period and to attend a meeting in a neutral country. To everyone’s surprise this was agreed to by all the countries and the war was put on ‘hold’ for the requested two weeks.

"They met in this very city, Lavank, which was also the main city of the neutral country.

"Not all the leaders of all the countries attended, but the majority did, and the Oversee Order was created under the guidance of Roloshala. Of course there were many hiccups in the process of creating the Oversee Order.

"I am not going to bore you with those details, but their first priority was to end the war. Almost overnight a peace accord was drawn up, and signed by all the leaders that were in attendance.

One of the leaders of a rather large country, who did not attend the initial meeting, decided that after the two week grace period was over, he would resume the war effort. This was in contradiction of the peace accord and war was declared on his country by the Grand Council of the Oversee Order. The declaration notice that was forwarded to this leader called for his immediate and unconditional surrender and was also signed by leaders of seventy three countries, all those in attendance! To put it mildly, surrender was swift! Denog smiled.

At that time there was no Grand Council! his smile became a laugh.

"The first members also voted that the headquarters of the Oversee Order should remain here in Lavank where it was founded.

"The years following the Great War were very productive as well as prosperous. Factories, instead of producing weapons and ammunition, started manufacturing goods that made the average person’s life easier and more comfortable.

"Countries with the same interests and cultures united. Yes, all the countries on this continent, joined forces to become one massive union and a production leader.

"Physics, Science and production technology soared and the countries of this planet were at war once more. This war was a production and economic war and is still being fought right up to this present day. It will probably carry on way into the future, for the benefit of the multitude.

"1844 - 1855 school history books describes those years as the innovative years. Inventions and patents by the thousands, a lot of the things and gadgets you use today originated during those years. Birth of the ground wave powered aircraft was also during this period.

"What is important to us here today is that spacecraft, space travel and nuclear fuel canisters were also developed during those years, but I am jumping the gun a trifle.

"The role that the Oversee Order played has of course diversified quite a lot over the years. Its primary goal was planetary peace and that was achieved shortly after its formation. Competence and high ethical standards of leaders, ending dictatorships and fair elections was next on the agenda.

The Oversee Order is neutral and has no army but will deploy the defense forces of some or all countries against one aggressor if the need arises. That has only happened twice since its formation, and I am glad to say with minimal loss of life. Every country on Tolnay is represented at the Oversee Order by a delegation in proportion to its population.

Denog grinned. "In case you are wondering the Grand Council gets voted into being by the delegates of the Oversee Order. The delegates of a country to serve at the Oversee Order, gets chosen by that country. One might think that it costs a country a fortune to support the Oversee Order, but think again. How much does a country save by not spending on the production and procurement of armaments and soldiers, apart from its natural disaster program and basic defenses?

"Now back to business. There are a number of other issues that is also under our jurisdiction, education, human rights, nutrition and a host of other things. However, the issue of corporate morality is under the spotlight here today, or more precisely, industrial espionage. There are a great number of production facilities on this planet, quite a few in Glanaver, that don’t give a hoot about patent rights.

"I want to give you a scenario. You invent, let’s say, a knife that never needs sharpening. It cost you a lot of time and expense so you take out patent rights on your invention. You start producing these knives and there is demand for them.

How would you feel if, a few months later, you discover that there is an exact copy of your product that you did not produce, selling at a lower price, in the market-place? Denog looked around. Not very happy I am sure. Now, you are not here to listen to all the cases that Vic and his team has uncovered, but rather one special case.

Denog cleared his throat. Have any of you heard of Borkem Technologies & Telecommunications or BT & T for short?

Laughter broke out, who has not heard of them? They are the producers of all the mobile telephonic devices on Tolnay. Not only that, all the transmission, relay and receiver cells across the planet also belongs to them. BT & T was the corporation that I was instructed to investigate. One of the main points I made in my report was well known. They had an absolute monopoly on mobile communications.

I take it then, that you are all familiar with Borkem. Denog said. He had made his point and knew it. Yes, he confirmed what we were all thinking, every time you make a call, or send a message on your mobile phones, you add to their coffers. They have been in charge of the mobile phone business for how long now? Since 1998 I think. He laughed aloud. Just think of all the money that we are saving you, now that your phones are gone!

I must admit that the small audience had become more and more relaxed while he was talking. Quite a few people laughed and a comment came from some female with a bit of sarcasm in her voice. Thank you very much!

You are most welcome, Nicole. There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice as well.

"You are aware then, that BT & T has complete control
