The LORD bless you and keep you! The LORD let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!

    Numbers 6:24-26

Looking ahead to the new year might overwhelm and sometimes lead to confusion. We need to figure out what to do and what comes next. In these times, God, the creator of the universe, wants to comfort and lead us through this year and beyond and fill our lives with happiness, good health, prosperity, friendship, and general well being.

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.

    Matthew 2:1-2

Wise people acknowledge their need for a Savior and seek to find him. Foolish people, like Herod, reject Jesus and even seek to destroy him. The wise men sought God with sincere determination. (P)Lord, help us to seek you in all moments of our lives.

It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.

    Mark 1:9-11

Jesus's baptism marks the beginning of a journey leading him to the Cross. If we feel stuck in sin, the messiness of life, or our brokenness-do not lose hope. Jesus desires to immerse himself in the messiness of our life. When we unite our sins, addictions brokenness to Jesus, there's peace and healing.

I will proclaim the decree of the Lord, he said to me, You are my son; today I have begotten you. Ask it of me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, and, as your possession, the ends of the earth.

    Psalm 2:7-8

God the Father is proclaiming that Christ is His chosen, anointed King. God's promise to David that a Man would sit upon his throne forever is realized in the Person of Christ through His sacrificial work on the Cross and His glorious Resurrection from the dead. (P) Heavenly Father, thank You that You purposed to redeem me through the sacrifice of a redeemer, and in Your grace, You have told us the end from the beginning and have promised that we are safe and secure in Your gracious hands.

    I will set my tabernacle in your midst, and will not loathe you. Ever present in your midst, I will be your God, and you will be my people;

    Leviticus 26:11-12

The God of heaven and earth offers his presence to be with us. One of the outcomes of being in the presence of God is Joy. The fellowship and faith that endures us through our trials enhance the presence of God to grow in our life. This is bliss.

    (P) Father, come into my life, make your tent, and stay with me.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in company with scoffers. Rather, the law of the Lord is his joy; and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted near streams of water, that yields its fruit in season; Its leaves never wither; whatever he does prospers.

    Psalm 1:1-3

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you oracle of the Lord plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.

    Jeremiah 29:11

Sovereign God knows you, your family, and your likes and dislikes. His plans for you are all laid out in advance, a life filled with his blessings and hope for a new life. (P) God, let your hand be on me, guiding me in your will. Let the hope of your redemption energize me.

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard delay, but he is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

    2 Peter 3:9

God does not desire anyone to perish. His love covers all. He desires all to come to repentance. But only some will. God shows His love and shares His calling. (P) God, giver of life, I desire you and your ways to guide me today.

All good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no alteration or shadow caused by change.

    James 1:17

When light falls on objects, there's a shadow, which changes when the light's direction changes. But the creator of light doesn't change. All blessings and gifts are from our God, who doesn't change His love for you. (P) God, I thank you for all the blessings and gifts and your never changing love for me.

Jesus told them, Fill the jars with water. So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter. So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from.

    John 2:7-9

Mother Mary, who said yes some 30 years back, tells the servers, ¹¹do whatever he tells you.¹¹ Water becomes wine. We have empty jars in our lives; sometimes, there's water in them. But no wine. We get caught up in the never-ending lists of things to be done and forget Jesus. We remember the miracle but forget God. (P) Jesus, I have my jars filled with water waiting for you, my heart ready to receive you in; work in me.

In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was without form or shape, with darkness over the abyss and a mighty wind sweeping over the waters.

    Genesis 1:1-2

Our earth owns its existence to God, for God created the world. God is the uncaused cause and the uncreated creator. God did not depend upon anything outside Himself for His existence, nor will He ever depend upon anyone for it. He creates life in this abysmal dark place. (P) Father, the creator, create in me a messenger to share your glory and love with ignorant others.

In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;

    John 1:1-5

The eternal God reveals to all man in Jesus Christ. The creator of all things, and without Him, no created thing would exist, come down as God. (P)Jesus, the light of the world, let your light shine in my life.

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord; the Lord will be their trust. They are like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream: It does not fear heat when it comes, its leaves stay green; In the year of drought it shows no distress, but still produces fruit.

    Jeremiah 17:7-8

Don't be discouraged if you feel shaken, but remember that we can stand unshakable because the Lord is the source of our strength and righteousness. Through Him, we can stand unshakable like the tree in Jeremiah. (P) Lord in heaven, hide me in your shelter, be my refuge. I seek your strength as I take steps of faith

I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; They will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel.

    Genesis 3:15

The      man      had      just rebelled; darkness rules and is the            way            of       the      world.      Death      ensues.      God's restoration of the world after the failure of the first Adam was manifested in the success of            the last Adam. Anyone who believes and      puts their faith in Christ to save them will experience a taste of the coming restoration in this life and eternal bliss in the fullness of restoration in the next. (P) Jesus, I believe you.

Therefore, just as through one person sin entered the world, and through sin, death, and thus death came to all, inasmuch as all sinned for up to the time of the law, sin was in the world, though sin is not accounted when there is no law.

    Romans 5:12-13

Adam brought guilt and death to everyone, and Christ brought justification and life. The extent of God's grace is even more astonishing than the extent of the condemnation. Guilt received from Adam, guilt given to Christ, life to us in His death.

    (P) Jesus, you brought life into our lives; let your grace fill the inner creaks of our body and soul and nourish us with your spirit.

Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

    Isaiah 41:10

Fear creeps in all walks of our lives, even in our dreams. Here are five promises from God. When fear reigns in, say and believe, ¹¹God¹s with me,¹¹ ¹¹God is my strength,¹¹ and ¹¹God will help me.¹¹

The royal official said to him, Sir, come down before my child dies. Jesus said to him, You may go; your son will live. The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.

    John 4:49-50

Sickness humiliates us. It quickly takes us beyond our abilities. The official didn't see his child heal but believed in Jesus and left. Can you trust God to work in ways that may not be obvious to you immediately? A dream, a goal, a promotion, a new job, a friendship, a marriage, a baby, a family - can you? (P) Jesus, I trust you; I trust you to work in my life.

But even if you should suffer because of righteousness, blessed are you. Do not be afraid or terrified with fear of them, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope,

    I Peter 3:14 -15

Suffering in some form will always be a part of being a true follower of Christ. Peter tells us that it's better to suffer for Jesus than follow the world's evil ways. It's a blessing. Do you think so?

    (P) Jesus, guide me in your ways and teach me your ways to treat my oppressors.

In the course of time, Cain brought an offering to the Lord from the fruit of the ground, while Abel, for his part, brought the fatty portion of the firstlings of his flock.

The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry and dejected.

    Genesis 4:3-5

In everything you do, give Jesus your best. Use your talents and gifts to the fullest for the Glory of God. (P) Jesus, I offer my work as an act of worship that pleases you.

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our lowly body to conform with his glorified body by the power that enables him also to bring all things into subjection to himself.

    Philippians 3:20-21

Citizenship is important because the country in which you have citizenship is one of the most significant things about you and your citizenship plays a major role in forming your identity. When you have accepted Jesus into your life, your citizenship and identity get moved. You are no longer a citizen of this world but a citizen of heaven. (P) God help me in preparing my way to heaven.

When the Lord is pleased with someone's ways, he makes even enemies be at peace with them.

    Proverbs 16:7

Consider some examples. God changed Laban from a pursuing enemy to an agreeable father-in law, and He melted Esau's murderous heart for Jacob's trust in the Lord. Joseph had peace with his master, his jailor, and Pharaoh. Even the Philistines learned to love David when hiding from Saul. Daniel prospered under both Babylonian and Persian kings, and the Romans allowed Paul a rental house and liberty to preach. Now pleasing God is a challenge, but we have many guides to help us. (P) God, I thank you for guiding me to please you. Help me live my life according to your will.

Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like.

    Galatians 5:19-21

Paul reminds us that we dwell in a body which constantly pulls us toward the desires and actions of our fallen, sinful natures. This is a constant struggle, every hour, every minute, and every second of our life. But the hope in Jesus guides our moral choices and leads us to an eternal inheritance. (P) Jesus, I ask you today to take away all of my temptations and make me follow your way.

Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.

    Hebrews4:12

This is a graphic explanation of how completely God's Word can distinguish between the godly and the ungodly. The soul and spirit seem indistinguishable to us, but the Word of God can even discern between these. Therefore, this incredible cutting power of Scripture is a tool to separate our thoughts into good and evil. (P)Heavenly Father, fill my life with your words to help me separate good from evil.

When God saw how corrupt the earth had become, since all mortals had corrupted their ways on earth,
