Fantasy Mind Trip Book 2 - Rainnie Cozpiter

    How to Read This Book

The purpose of this new book series is not only to entertain readers and stir their imaginations, but also to introduce older music to the newer generations who might not have had the opportunity to experience great music from 30+ years ago.

In this book, Chapter 0, the Flipside chapter, and the Afterward can be read like normal chapters. But the rest of the chapters are numbered in accordance with the tracks from the designated album. They are best read while listening to the corresponding track. I have tried to pace each chapter to be in sync with the music being played (and I have slowed down the reading rate in this second book due to feedback from readers), so try to read at your regular pace. You should reach the end of each chapter around the same time that the song stops playing.

However, if you find that your reading pace is not in sync with the song, make changes accordingly if possible, but if it is not possible or if you cannot concentrate on both media at the same time, I recommend reading the chapter first and then listening to the track afterward, allowing your mind to imagine the scene being played out. As for the music itself, it should be fairly easy to find, especially if you search for it on the internet.

My intentions are to find a new way of making music fun to listen to as well as to share my own personal passion for ancient music. If you discover that you really like what I’ve done with the fusion of fictional writing and music, I encourage you to give it a try for yourself too. And if you end up with a story that you are very pleased with, share it with me. I’d love to read it!

I truly hope that you not only enjoy this book but also that your love of music grows in both width and depth.

Chapter 0: Rules of the Club

Come on! Rob thought to himself in frustration. Just this one last class and then he’d be out of there. Then rush back to Uncle Lou’s house with Max so he could see...her. His Lady. Rob sighed out loud, causing a few of his classmates to cast sympathetic glances his way—math class is boring for all of us, dude.

Rob started drawing on his lined paper that was supposed to be dedicated to the math problems on the board. Mr. Fletcher was deeply invested in explaining them at the moment, but Rob had tuned out his teacher’s monotone voice a long time ago. On his paper, he tried to sketch His Lady as best as he could, but no 2D, black-and-white picture could do her justice, much less at the hand of an anti-artist like Rob.

He was disgusted with his attempt to represent her perfect beauty, so he violently scrunched up the paper. The sound was sharp and caught the attention of nearby classmates again. Collin leaned over and whispered, Holy cow, Rob! Are you about to have a breakdown? I’d pay money to see that. Kayla on the other side of Rob heard Collin and giggled. Rob looked at her, then back at Collin, and then sat up a little straighter. Collin saw the change come over Rob and whispered, No? Dang! Raincheck, then.

What the heck is a raincheck? wondered Rob. Collin was always making him feel dumb. It sucked that he had to sit next to him in math class of all places. On the other hand, sitting next to Kayla was nice. She laughed at his jokes, for one thing. She had a pretty face too—nothing compared to His Lady, but that wasn’t really fair on Kayla to be compared to Perfection. Plus, she was just a girl.

Rob slouched in his chair again and endured the rest of class by staring directly at the glare coming off of the white board. It numbed his mind, which in turn helped him to stop thinking about the time slowly trudging by. He didn’t move for the remaining 12 minutes of class.

When the bell rang, it was like Rob woke from a trance. He popped out of his seat, knocking everything off of his desk in the process. Kayla laughed again and tried to help, but Rob was too quick. He snatched everything up off of the ground and stuffed it carelessly into his backpack. He shoved past his classmates without care and was the first out the door despite the fact that his assigned seating placed him in almost exactly the middle of the classroom.

Where’s Max? Rob whipped his head around to scan for his friend among the masses. Sometimes he met up with Max where their bikes were parked (yesterday being a good example), but most times he just saw him later in the evening. Until today, Rob had never wondered where Max’s last class was because, honestly, it had never been important to Rob before. But today was different. It felt like a matter of life and death to find Max as soon as possible.
